bulb: amzn.to/2pJ1Glj 2007 Toyota Highlander. Showing how to replace the license plate light bulb. Dealer wanted $38.82. Cost me a $1.25 to do it myself.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
Shattered the first bulb with channels, then used needle-nosed to pull the bulb out, then add sure the red dot on the bulb was away from the L / R on the bulb encloser. Works fine, very bright looks great! Thank you for this video
after being let off with a warning by a cop last night for not having plate number lights, i had to go replace both of them. i, too, was stymied trying to take the entire assembly off. thanks for posting this video, it helped me a lot
I got pulled over by officer Galindo with Harris County last night at 11:30 LOL I said I know I wasn't speeding because I was on cruise control and he laughed. No ma'am but your plate is completely dark. He was so nice and I had no clue it was out. He told me to take the warning over to Chimney Rock with the bulb receipt.
Thank you very much for this tutorial, I just replaced my car's plate light bulb based on your tutorial. It was very easy and only cost $4.50 to buy two light bulbs in #168. Thanks again
WOO HOO! Thank you for showing this video and like you, I certainly felt it was something I can do my self. It would be NO surprise to me if the dealer noted on your license plate frame was wanting to charge you an outrageous fee to change the bulb. Clint Newell wanted about $160 to change out our in cabin air filter (.75/hr shop time!) I was able to do it for a Toyota $18 filter and done in 10 minutes.
Got pulled over 2 days ago so I googled how to do this and will replace myself. Thank you for this video because I never paid any attention to license plate bulbs!!! BTW, I was given a ticket, no warning!
Went to pep boy they wanted to charge me 32 dollars, to change but they did not have a appointment slot, so I schedule for later in the evening and came home, found your video (great instruction by the way), and did it myself in less the 10 mins for both lambs. great stuff thanks you save me 32 bucks and a drive you rock dude..
Lots of good "sidebar" advice here...."don't force anything, compare with the old one, test before reassembly". You are an excellent mechanic, in my opinion.
I dowsed the old screws with Kroil penetrating fluid. I used the philips head screw #8x3/4 from AutoZone to replace the rusted screws.. Also I had to use vise grips to pull out the old bulb from the frame. Thanks for the video.
Thanks... you exactly addressed my question. Wasn't sure whether to unwrap the electrical tape in the back and pull the bulb out from the back or pull the lens cap off. Very much appreciate your time posting this.
I thank you for the video. Clearly stated, calmly presented, saved all of us money, and legal hassles too. I would echo ursulamajor2000 that it helped me a lot to lift the hatch when I was putting the units back in. Also, the bulbs were pretty hard to get out. I finally used a pair of pliers to pull them out. Worked like a charm.
wtfff, here in Florida you don’t get pulled over for that. I’ve noticed mine were out and wanted some LEDs just to make it stand out. Crazy if you get pulled over
Thank you I got done in about 20:00 mins. It took some doing putting it back in but I got it back in and it only costed me $6.85 at Auto Zone but that is better then what the dealer wanted. Thanks once more :-)
What year Sienna is this? We have a 2014, and all other videos I've seen show that you have to take off all the inside panels and it is a nightmare. Dealer wants $90 to replace bulbs.
ok i replace the bulbs while the truck was open then i close the truck an start the car an they didnt come on but they come on while the truck is open so whats the problem
Terrible time removing screws on '08. Salt belt. Screws deteriated. I'm resorting to ordering new lenses and cutting old out. It's easier to work on by opening tailgate and bringing to your level.
@@rayleon0869 I can get you the info tonight. Once I removed the thread portion of the screw I just matched the closest one in a stainless steel phillips pan head sheet metal screws from Lowe's. #8 x 1" or guesstimate. For the right one I was prepared to cut off head with a Dremel like tool. But instead drilled tiny holes around the screw assembly to remove rest of light. Then used vise grips on the remaining. I ordered new Toyota lamps before I did this.
@@rayleon0869 #8 x 5/8 stainless steel pan head phillips sheet metal screw is what I used. Can get at Lowe's, Home Depot. 3/4" would probably be ok too. Its just going into plastic. Stainless steel won't corrode. Also. I remember drilling small holes to cut off the plastic tab of light that protrudes into area opposite side of screw in order to get out lamp. Its amazing how stubborn the screw was into plastic. Good luck.
I would check at your local auto parts store. If they can order just the socket, you can cut the wires, and crimp or solder the new one on. If they don't make an after market one, then order one from the a salvage yard.
Just go to any auto parts store. Have your Year, Make, and Model number. In my case: 2007, Toyota, Highlander. They will get you the correct bulb for your vehicle. For my vehicle, i use a 168 bulb.

Thank you! Didn’t even know this was a thing til I got pulled over a few nights ago.
Haha me too. Just got pulled over on Saturday. Didnt even know it was a thing.
lmao i got pulled over last night
i got pulled over tonight the office was really nice kept saying the only reason that i pulled you over was for plate light
Same bro legit last night🤦🏾♂️
My husband got pulled over last night for the same thing, literally right as he was front of our house 🤣
I think you did a great job on the video and I was able to change both of my license plate bulbs all by my single female self! Thank you!!!
+Joy Colson Your welcome.
not smart enought to get a man to do it.

@Hezekiah Skyler instablaster :)
Thanks! Dealer quoted me $40 too, got the bulbs for $4 and about to change them myself 👍🏼
Ha, I just paid $6 for a pack of 2 bulbs... 4 years after you made this video. Inflation!!
Afraid to ask how much the dealer wants now :)
$7
I paid $8 😂
Checking in from 2022 with $8.75 for one bulb

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't sure how the assembly fit together but your video showed it clearly. Saved me some frustration!

Wow. Where are you from? Around here, you could be missing a bumper, and they won't pull you over.
Ticket for that ?! Unless they 2 were all out, if just one and you got a ticket, that's bad.
My dealer just tried to charge me $45 to change the bulb - thanks for the help!

Wow really ? I just recently changed my bulbs ($6 Auto zone) it literally took me 5 minutes.

Thanks. My dealer wanted $35.88 to do this :).

Mine is 2004, can use the same bulb #168 for it ?
Your local auto parts store, can look that up for you.
Where did you purchase the bulbs?
Mine was a 168 bulb. Any auto parts store should have them. You can have one delivered to your house: amzn.to/2pJ1Glj

Think they only come on, when you turn your headlights on. Try turning on your headlights, and see if that gets them working.

I paid 9 dollars today smh
I was quoted $91 for license plate light replacements. Oh boy.
