About a week ago I made a desperate comment asking how to beat Norse as Atlantean. I'm very proud of myself that the solution I came up with is basically what Boit came up with too. Start Classical age with counter barracks units, any mix of Katapeltes, Turma, or Cheiroballista, depending on what the opponent is making, with only a few murmillo. Gradually start mixing in more Murmillo and start making some Prometheans. After doing some damage, go Heroic age through Hyperion. Win a free fight using Chaos, and start spamming Contarius, Satyr, and Arcus. This should be enough to get a gold starve, or even to break into their base with some Destroyers. If not, go Mythic, distract with Tartarian Gate while building up Fanatic numbers. Granted, I am not a top player, and I have only succesfully pulled it off a few times. Classical age is still tough, I have to be on the defensive for a good bit, while using sky passages to keep getting resources. But any other strategy feels completely hopeless vs Norse, unless they're doing some dumb stuff. btw you'll want at least 3, preferably 5-6 oracles out. Just put them around your base or near sky passages
@@bruvkek4629 Are you quoting that from the wikia? If so, it's actually a bit misleading In legacy Fanatics had a x2 bonus vs. infantry & Norse Heroes i.e. Hersirs & Ragnarokers. Norse Heroes were effectively infantry when it came to taking bonus damage, but not exactly. As an example, Throwing Axemen did less bonus against Hersirs, compared to what they did to most other infantry In Retold, all these little exceptions have been ironed out. Now Norse (melee) Heroes are straight up infantry & Godis are ranged human units (like Toxotes & Throwing Axemen) for the purpose of taking bonus damage. So the Fanatics still get their standard anti-infantry bonus damage against Hersirs & Ragnarokers As another confusing example, the wiki states the Hoplite gets no bonus against Turma (x1). What it means is that the legacy x1.5 bonus they had has been removed. But Hoplites still get their standard x1.25 anti-cavalry bonus damage against Turma in Retold
yeah its pretty unfair, but I could have handled it better and maybe win, I was new to Oranos, and so didn't make as much sky passages as I should, and also didn't make any oracles. It also was the first time I faced Ragnarok, I think that you should stop your villager production, build a lot everywhere on the map and protect your gold income, and hit and run as much as possible, keep your ranged army in tiny spots around towers and palaces. Ps : I think ragnarok got nerfed a bit since then (it was like 2 weeks ago)
@@Senorpoontang heroic egyp, norse and greek have their dedicated anti-inf units. Cheriobalistas of atty cant hold rag heroes. Heroic atty should be able to beat ragnarok because what you say is baldr is a "I win" button for norse and it makes no sense competitively.
@@eget4144Where did I say that? Is it not obvious that the two options are to either go mythic or effectively win before the rag? Fanatics destroy rag and a gold starved Norse cant get upgrades for the rag.

I think it is unfair for atty. There is no counterplay if you cant get to mythic age. Atty should have a move to do in heroic age.

That would make the mythic age GP completely worthless. Much smarter to just tune the Rag Heroes themselves if they're too strong.
