Really like that 12x48 tile. Looks great.
thanks, fortunately it was flat and all the edges were spot 90 degrees. Otherwise it could have been a nightmare
Loved the tile material you guys used for this bathroom, awesome job on the install! 👍👍
thank you, those tiles were top notch
That looks beautiful
thanks Linda, it turned out very nice and the 12x48s made it fast
Great video. QUESTION: How do I tile a 4'x6' cold room off a bathroom? It's a concrete floor with a door that allows only 1/16" thicker than the tile for clearance.
Well done.
thank you
Awesome video guys. You really give a lot of information in the short space of the video. Do you guys have a video on how to prep for tiling a walk-in shower floor?
thank you. We have several videos. What kind of tile work will you be doing?
@@HomeRepairTutor I'm going to be changing my normal shower enclosure to a wider walk-in shower with a glass curtain. I will be using mosaics inside on the shower floor and going with subway tiles on the walls. It's a concrete floor so I will have to break the floor out so that I can move the drain from it's current location to install a linear shower trough. That's going to require me to re-concrete the floor and go through all of the steps that you outlined in this video. Do you have any pointers on how to get the proper slope with a linear drain? The drain will be located close to the wall, so I need to make sure that the waterproofing is done properly.
😍👏👏👏
what was the diamond disc for the grinder? you mentioned it very quickly I couldn't catch the name.
Thanks for all of the great videos, you guys are awesome! Two questions:
- What is lippage? (Not sure if I spelled that right)
- How do you finish off the section where the tile meets the tub? Just grout? Or is there a finish/baseboard molding tile you use?
As always, the work looks great.
thanks for the great questions. Lippage is when adjacent tiles are uneven, eg one tile is higher than the other. Ideally floor tiles should be flat relative to each other for aesthetic reasons and to reduce tripping. The transition between floor tile and a tub should be filled with 100% silicone for expansion and contraction purposes and for waterproofing. Hope that helps
well done. What are the time lapse for this video? thanks
we primed the floor and self-leveled on Day 1 then let that setup overnight. Day 2 we applied Hydro Ban and allowed that to cure. Then we set the tile on Day 3.
Can uncoupling membranes, such as Schluter Ditra, be used over concrete floors?
Yes absolutely
Yes these are hard to handle, but they cover quickly
we wanted to quickly highlight the prep but those videos are available on our RUclips channel in full detail 👍🏼
I see you and sal are now on re-runs? Was this a new strategy from some youtube strategy course you guys took?
only the first few minutes of this video revisited prior videos, the rest was new. We felt it was important to show the self leveling and waterproofing so viewers would understand the importance of prep. There wasn’t any strategy apart from that
have to say - newer seen some one laying tiles so messy...
This video is very mis leading, the so-called “tile levelling system” doesn’t level the tile. It is only used to help installation by 5 percent only. Please don’t tell people that the system is to level the tile. The floor should be straight before installing and the rest falls upon the skill of the tile setter. The only thing the tile clips do is push the tile down more and keep the tile in place to set overall. Diyers, please be aware of this, and don’t depend on these so called “tile leveling clips and set ups.
