Im a simple man,i see kalmah i click
Great stuff!
I’ve been listening to metal since the early 1980s. As a kid, I was buying early Iron Maiden albums, early Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth etc.
After all these years, and after hearing & seeing tons of amazing metal bands, Kalmah is my favourite band.
They combine all the best things in metal: great guitar work, awesome drumming, wicked keyboard solos, cool bass lines and venomous vocals. Their music is just the right combination of great melodies and brutal sounds.
Some standout songs:
Hades, Withering Away, Heritance of Berija, They Will Return, My Nation, Heroes to Us, Moon of My Nights, The Black Waltz, Sacramentum, Seventh Swamphony, The Trapper, Blood Ran Cold, Take Me Away, and many more.
I love the swamp guy. I also love how the band smiles and look up when he's saving the kids like "that's our boy!"
Excellent band, my favorite song of them is probably Heroes To Us.
Kalmah is one of bands that are awesome, but for some reason they are stuck playing on tiny stages instead of getting any fame. Check out Hades, 12 Gauge and Hook the Monster from them.
For some less known melodic death metal, check out Whispered - Strike.
Can’t forget “The Black Waltz”
Damn shame really...they're godly
You're too right. They would deserve so much more recognition and I've never understood why they never got it. I know the heydays of melodeath are long gone as are their real chances of ever hitting it big, but unlike many of their contemporaries from late 1990s and early 2000s, Kalmah still sounds fresh and I honestly can't ever remember hearing a bad song from them.
Swamp Metal at its finest. Love this band and it’s great to see them getting some attention. Their first 4 albums are classics. The guitar work and their melodies are amazing. Check out Hollow Heart, Swampshell, They Will Return, Evil in You, Hades, Dance of the Water, Burbots Revenge, Hero’s To Us, Mindrust, Bitter Metallic Side and 12 Gauge.
good comment but learn to use the apostrophe properly :)
Great shout by your patron. Epic riffs and melody.
At these times, the groan of wind is truly the best songs especially at those times. Just listen and read the lyrics as they were predicting worldwide pandemic.
Kalmah hades! Which is one of the most popular and the song they finish every show with. Also the song third the magical is one of my favorites!! I waited 15 years for them to finally come to the USA and I got to go see them in a dive bar that held like 300 people. One of my greatest metal achievements!! 🤘 rock on keep doing what your doing
“Time takes us all” and this one are my favorite Kalmah tracks. So stoked to see you react to this one!!!!
Melodeath is almost mainstream music in Finland :D Best served mixed with some folk metal...
Kalmah is one of the best Melodeath bands, still an underrated popularity for them that's totally unfair. Check out Seventh Symphony, Dance of the water....etc.
Seventh Swamphony is truly a masterpiece
Agreed heroes to us not to mention the meaning thats behind the song
Kalmah is top 3 metal for me. They are so underrated
It's time for Wintersun. God help you when you hear it.
You should read the lyrics of this song... It's almost prophetic. Sure it's about h5n1 (bird flu), but fits the current situation spot on...
Kalmah is pretty much as melodic as melodic death metal comes... I really like their music
Defenetely! And their new album kicks ass aswell
Great review! 😄 Kalmah's Pekka Kokko has one of the best growls in melodic death metal scene. You should check Shape of Despair's Monotony Fields album for some of the lowest growls and most beautiful music ever created IMO.
Kalmah are a close tie wtih Amon Amarth for my favorite melodeath band. Glad you enjoyed them :) As for suggestions for reactions, "Take me away" was their latest video release, but isn't quite as musically intense as this one. "Seventh Swamphony" has a good little vid with their mascot Swamplord (the bloke who saved the kids in this) serving it to environmental vandals and then there is "12 gauge" , a song that was written to highlight the high number of alcohol + firearms suicides in their home region during the dark months.
Hell yeah Tom, love this song.
The most important Kalmah songs that all fans would agree are Hades, Swamphell and Heroes to us
Hades, baby!
Hollowheart and too Finnish dm is amazing
To the Gallows.
Hades great song heroes to us super good guitar solo from them
Cool solid melodeath. A lot of similarities to Bodom, though I always preferred Bodom.
Definitely got bosom vibes.
Bodom was always a less good kalmah...but still good \m/
Here some great melodeath from finland
Mors principium est
Bloodred hourglass
Insomnium
Wintersun
Children of bodom
Eternal tears of sorrow
Amorphis
Norther
Diablo
Kill the Romance
Shade empire
Ensiferum
Bloodred Hourglas is great. Where at John Smith 2 years they only got 30 min.
@@kah227this year they were playing again. But they had 1 hour this time :D
Hades - Listen to hades
Reac to , kalmah , sacramentum
I thought the same thing about death metal so many bands
Nice, I agree Europe has great metal bands. It is time for Judas Priest- screaming for vengeance, you will love that one!
People dont deserve Kalmah music....
Bodom is more like Helloween + Iron Maiden and Kalmah more closer to Megadeth and Slayer
Hey man, if you wanna try a melodic death band from America, you could try AETHER REALM, they have a very european vibe to them and they do their thing as good as any of them (Although you should probably try Wintersun first to get where they get their influences from)
I think this one is good to start with!

This is possibly the worst song you could hear from them it was the most popular at one point I believe, however, the blind leader, man of the king and suodeth are much better listens imo not to mention the low quality of the recording in this video
