Not technically a botch in a match, but Becky Lynch getting her nose broken by Nia Jaxx elevated the hell out of Becky and made her look like a total badass by the end of the segment.
I don't think Triple H's throat injury or Lesnar landing on his head made those matches better at all, those are scary moments and the matches would've been just as good without that happening. Lesnar landing the SSP would've made the match better. Ditto with Taker almost landing on his head. None of this enhanced the matches in my view.
I completly agree. even this first one and him saying the glass dont breaking made the match better. the match would have been better if it did break the first time because shanes head wouldnt have hit the ground so many times and a chance of a fractured neck
I don't think you understand how it elevated the match in the real world. It takes away the wwe us fake headline and added something intriguing. It's no roman colloseum but it gets us close
The lore it brings rises the matches in higher regards like the hell in cell match between taker n mankind or the msg street fight between hhh vs catcus jack
you gotta understand, when a major botch happens, it brings more eyes to the match. obviously, scsry botches are nothing to take lightly, but when everyone is okay in the end, the power of hindsight takes it's course
SAME! Everyone always talks about the first fall and acts like it's the craziest thing that's ever happened. And it actually was the craziest thing that had ever happened, for all of about 10 minutes, then it became a whole different thing. The fact that, against EVERY person there with him as he was being wheeled away, got back up after the first fall and decided to continue with a dislocated shoulder is wild.. The fact that he got up AGAIN after a dislocated shoulder with an added jaw, concussion, internal bleeding, bruised ribs, and having an emergency tooth extraction performed by Dr. Chair landing on his face only to go on and not only stay in character, take a chokeslam AND be thrown onto a thousand or thumbtacks is legitimately insane. Nothing like that will ever happen again, hopefully. But even most non-wrestling fans have heard about it or watched that one. Mick is so underrated as a talent and would do damn near anything and everything to make his adversaries look like a million bucks. But he alwaus seems to be overshadowed by his opponents most of the time. You'd never see his opponents take those kinds of bumps or risks to put him over.
The brutal thing was the first belly to belly overhead suplex because Angle and Shane didn't know the glass was plexiglass, Shane was dropped directly on his head. You can hear the loud thud of his skull bouncing off the concrete. Shane was a real one for taking that bump.
Shane McMahon vs Kurt Angle is probably one of my personal favorite street fights in professional wrestling history. Also, don’t forget to the reason the reason the glass didn’t break the first time was because someone replaced the plexiglass with real glass. So not only did this make the glass harder to break, both Shane and Kurt ended up getting cut by real glass although Shane ended up getting the worst of it.
Honorable mention: The 2005 Royal Rumble match where John Cena and Batista went over the top rope at the same time because it led to Vince McMahon sliding into the ring tearing his quads and he sat there directing orders. 😄
Honorable mentions: 1. Mankind vs. Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match (King of the Ring 1998). While Mankind getting thrown off the top of the cell through the announce table was planned, him getting chokeslammed through the roof of the cell to the mat while a steel chair smashes his face was not. 2. The Rock vs. Triple H vs. Kurt Angle (Summerslam 2000). HHH was supposed to Pedigree Kurt through the announce table but the table collapsed prematurely, giving Kurt a concussion.
Sure, the Royal Rumble double elimination got us the immortal moment of Vince tearing his quad and sitting in the ring barking orders... But I never understood why they did not simply declared Batista and Cena double winners. This was the peak of where they were playing the RAW vs Smackdown split, and both of them ended up going to Wrestlemania and winning their respective title anyway. Restarting the Royal Rumble just to have Cena eliminated under 2 minutes always felt so anti-climactic.
I admire Cesaro's toughness and strenght. The guy is not human. He deserves respect for tooking that pain and proceed with the match like nothing happened 💪🏻
The Royal Rumble botch with Cena and Batista is annoying because both guys ended up with World Title matches at that Mania. Should've just called it a draw, and then run a pre mania match between them for who gets the main event.
The Lesnar one did make it more memorable But not for your bull reasons. Didn't give a sense of vulnerability for the last 30 seconds of a 20 minute match. Shocked everyone cus they thought he was injured slash dead.

Gonna throw a mention to Edge accidentally faceplanting after spearing Jeff Hardy midair in the second TLC match, helped get that over as a spot that was dangerous for *both* of them.
Punk vs McIntyre is the best Feud of the year. Best storyline maybe the Cody's "Finish The Story" but Punk and Drew sure took their feud to another level. No Doubt About IT.

Damian selling the leg for the rest of the match and doing his big power moves with one leg, with everyone not knowing if Damian was severely hurt or not. Everyone expecting to hear that Damian was injured after the match and would have to vacate the belt, only for him to be 100% fine afterwards.
I'm fairly certain in and interview about the Summerslam match Cesaro said it wasn't that his teeth were broken, but that they were pushed back up into his jaw and had to be pulled out.
