Chris and Joyce you both are the best. I’m a movie and award show nerd and love both of your commentaries. Please keep it up!

Great show! Love these… Matt Damon deserved a nod for “Ripley”, “Eyes Wide Shut” deserved more attention, it’s aged well

The Blair Witch Project would not be close to a nomination any year, LOL. Could feel Joyce rolling her eyes hard at that typical Christopher bad take. Being John Malkovich, Talented Mr Ripley, and Magnolia are there in a field of 10, and then I'd say The Matrix and Boys Don't Cry would complete it. Next in line: Election and Toy Story 2. After that: The Hurricane, Topsy Turvy, Three Kings, The End of the Affair, The Straight Story, Fight Club, All About My Mother, and October Sky.

I saw the Phantom Menace before the original Star Wars trilogy and I could not understand why it was so popular. It was such a blah story.
Sixth Sense - I did not figure it out until the reveal. It was the 1st time I was blown away by a movie twist/reveal!
I remember the most about this Oscar’s was that it was *NSYNC’s moment. They had just released the biggest album of the year and performed at the Oscars!

Biggest Oscar's disappointment for me is Caine winning over Cruise!!! His performance, well, role, was pretty much created for him and it was so complex. I was super annoyed.

Weirdly, a lot of people believe that Revenge of the Sith is like a top 3 Star Wars which I don’t understand

Why you Totally forgot THE IRON GIANT? It is a better movie than the half of nominees and winners. 🙄

Technically, you are correct in saying this was the last Oscars of the decade, since the show was held in 2000. But, the show was awarding films from 1999, which is not the last year of the decade.

The framing device that was filmed, then edited out, had Thora Birch's opening video returning at the end as a prosecutorial evidentiary item in the courtroom where Birch is being tried as accomplice to her dad's murder. Wes Bentley already was convicted, wearing prison garb in the courtroom. It was that dark irony screenwriter Alan Ball wanted and director Sam Mendes decided didn't work. Ball talks about this in the DVD commentary.

How can you put Shakespeare in Love over Schindler's List and Unforgiven? I didn't think either of you were that hot on Shakespeare in Love when you did that throwback...
