"I Remember You" was a great song and I still have the 45 rpm record. It was a remake of a very popular song 20 years earlier. Reached #5 (for two weeks) in the US in Oct, 1962. I was just 8 but I loved music even then.
I was a fan of his when he came to Britain in the late 50’s and it took him several records before he broke through over here. But what a breakthrough with that superb updating of an old standard ‘I Remember You’, which launched him to super stardom in the U.K. He made 4 number ones and made many fine recordings in his career often updating old songs and giving them a country treatment, a music incidentally he loved. Unfortunately, after he stopped recording with Norrie Paramor, the hits dried up and sadly he lost the ability to be able to sing. RIP Frank, I’ll always remember you.
I worked with Frank, summer season Jersey UK 1961. Fond memories. RIP.
