    This is a great simple repair if your steering is having this clicking issue. My clicking went away and my steering became a little more firm and sporty like it was originally.

      Glad to hear that! F chassis electro steering is often a let down, I personally really enjoy it, having driven almost every modern BMW in existence (not lived with though!) there’s certainly worse out there :)

      Hi @ramen9996, I own a BMW F25 X3 and it has horrible steering when driving; it pulls left or right while normal driving on the highway, and it has noise when moving steering when standing in one place. If I replace the steering rack thrust bushing, will it improve steering?

      you mean you closed it with 80Nm thenn u released it by half and it was most of the time a great result? im asking cuz i also need to do this on my own car and im not really sure how exactly. i dont want to lift the car 10 times

    • @brarautorepairs

      70 NM is in TIS. But the nonsense is them checking to play with a special tool. That right there is a show stopper for anyone trying to do it properly as per the BMW engineering team.
      The original part to begin with wasn't properly built and the dealership should be forced to sell this repair part at cost instead of charging $250 CAD.

    I've got some creaking when turning the steering 180 while stationary, sometimes there's a clunk, but mostly creaking. BMW diagnosis was this thrust piece and also steering spindle bottom w joint.

    • @EuroFeverGarage
      @EuroFeverGarage  Год назад

      My clunk ended up being my sway bar end links, I could only replicate over bumps. Your clunking, is that only doing full lock to lock?

    • @anonymoustravelvidz
      @anonymoustravelvidz Год назад

      @@EuroFeverGarage it's a bit both, but more so when doing lock to lock. I hope the diagnosis is correct for the same noise when accelerating from stationary.

      @@anonymoustravelvidz Obviously these techs would know more than I, so I do hope they solve your issue. I have heard top hats are also known to creak, though not clunk as far as I've seen, so it may be time to just do some sort of front end refresh

    • @I_got_10_felonies
      @I_got_10_felonies 11 месяцев назад +1

      @anonymoustravelvidz Have you figured it out? that creaking noise might be coming from your inner tie rod. I was also getting a creaking noise with the full lock turns when stationary & replaced both my tie rods & the noise is gone. & my thrust piece has been replaced as well a year prior so I know that wasn;'t contributing to the creaking

      Thank you for watching! As for symptoms I’d say not strongly enough to say the thrust bushing was the cause. In the end it was my sway bar end links (check pt.2) so I’d say look at those if you have a louder clunk

    • @EuroFeverGarage

      It will feel tighter as the bushing has been refreshed. If it’s significantly tighter, where when you turn the wheel doesn’t come back to center, it should most likely be loosened

    • @EuroFeverGarage
      @EuroFeverGarage  Год назад +1

      Hey there, thanks for watching the video. If the turning of the steering wheel feels tighter than before, as in more difficulty, then you may need to loosen how many turns you did on the bushing. If the issue persists, you may be having an alignment issue but that would be my initial thoughts!

    Mine had it already after 4y and 40k km. Very annoying and It's not only the noise the car also drives very bad on long straight lines on highway. After repair (dealership) noise was indeed gone, but the correct steering feel never game back. In my opinion it feels more loose due to the two rubber gaskets on the new part, it turns too lite.
    I can only say the steering is bad in all bmw f series ( 3,4, and 5 series) all using the same shitty electric power steering rack. Came from a lexus IS which also already had a electric steering but was much better in feel and straight line stability. The BMW only feels nice on twisty raod, highway is bad also with the new part. Also have a Mini now 75k km, also start to clunk. I can only conclude BMW' products are not the best quality you can buy. Some parts are really poor (costdown) not to speak of the timing chain problem most engines suffer of on the f series

    • @EuroFeverGarage
      @EuroFeverGarage  Год назад

      Hey there thanks for the watch! I agree that the electric racks definitely aren’t the best, especially in this first move after the hydraulic steering of the older models. The current g is an improvement but as soon as you put them in sport they feel way over boosted and artificially heavy.
      Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll ever see a perfect replica
