Seeing Tenzin's daughter ( forgot name) weave through the air boards with such grace and her hands up makes me emotional. Her movements and demeanor completely mirrored Aang. When I first watched this I remember still mourning the old gang. The Last Airbender 100% means the world to me.
Firebenders/Fire nation natives typically have golden eyes just like people of the Water Tribe have blue eyes, Earth Kingdom has green eyes and Air Nomads have grey eyes. Hope this isn't a spoiler. So Mako just looks like a typical fire nation person.
Good job understanding mako and bolins situation so quickly, I’ve seen reactions where people are confused as how they can be brothers but bend different elements.
I too really enjoy the music of this show. Additionally, I love the fighting choreography in Korra. Its consistently good across both shows and its great how they always seem to keep it feeling fresh, despite having countless battles that take place across the episodes. Also, you guessed right. Mako the character was named in memory of Iroh's voice actor. 💙
Idk if it was just a rumor, but I heard the bending was supposed to be just as fast in AtLA but it requires so many more frames per second that it would take too long/be too expensive to animate. Again, unsure if this was ever officially confirmed
I always found Tenzin's dislike of Pro-Bending interesting, because you know if they had early Pro-Bending matches while Aang was still the avatar, he would have been in the stand, junk food in hand, cheering at every match he could.
It's because as the last elder air nomad, he thinks he's the only one responsible to keep their teachings going. So, he is very strict on following the traditional way of bendings.
Another thing too is that Tenzin is just a stoic person who sees the deeper meaning in things and sometimes it doesn't jibe well with everyone else. He views bending with a form of religious reverence that shouldnt be taken lightly while other people can have simple fun with it and do more
Aang: "I'm so excited! Katara, pass the fire flakes." Katara: "I don't know why I let you drag me here. This is just gonna be a bunch of guys throwing elements at each other. Isn't it?" Sokka: "That's what I paid for."
The way you guys reacted to and were understanding of some of the scenes with Korra, indicates that you might just be one of the best people to react to TLOK. Loving it and can't wait to see more!
Also, regarding Pro-Bending scoring: 1. By pushing people back into their inner zones, you hold the advantage and will score a point if you can hold it until the timer of that round ends. If you push everyone on the opposing side into one of their inner zones, you can advance and take their territory as well. There are three rounds and you need at least 2 of 3 points to win. 2. If you knockout the opposing side (a Knock Out means you knock every player off the back end into the pool of water down below), then you win automatically, even if you lost the first two rounds. 3. A Draw/Tie can occur if ... A. No team gaining any territory B. The teams lose the same amount of territory. ... in the case of a Draw/Tie, there is a coin toss. The winner of the coin toss chooses one element (Fire, Water, or Earth), and then the players of that element from each side duel in a 1v1 on an elevated platform. Knock them off the platform to get the point. You'll see more of this unfold as Book 1 goes on!!
I mentioned in the previous comment about the themes rather adult, and this is one of the times I really prefer LoK over ATLA. Mainly because how it is portrayed on success from failure. I felt more connected because the way Korra reacts to being unable to airbend is close to teenage reaction as possible, at least for me. So I felt her struggle. Being expected to master something you should be mastering, and the feeling of wanting to participate in something you are interested in, which is kinda like academic school vs extra curricular. And yes it goes on, the blaming of others, and even Tenzin's own shortcomings in losing patience are all relatable too especially growing into adulthood, and starting to become a mentor figure for my junior colleagues.

According to canon, an avatar often has an opposite personality to the avatar that came before, while also possessing their own unique personality. I.e. Aang was very passive, non-confrontation, wise, and childish, but also brave when his hand is forced. Korra is fierce, stubborn, blunt, rebellious, and often chooses violence over reason. However, Korra also inherits some of Aang's traits.
Try not to compare characters in this series to the previous one. This is its own thing. Eye colors dont mean related, they are different from person to person but difference races have more common colors. Greens for Earth, Blues for Water, Golds for Fire, Blue and Silvers for Air. There are other colors like brown, Black which are neutral n more but yeah they arent a specific character lineage thing. The current main characters are not blood to any of the others.
@@Какой-тоКактусThey didn’t say that. Obviously LOK is a continuation and result from ATLA. Everyone knows LOK wouldn’t be the way it is without everything in ATLA. The Last Airbender definitely felt like and Industrial Revolution era world. Not everything was machinery but the Fire Nation especially had coal powered vehicles and metal ships. Meanwhile Korra gives more of a 1920s America vibe, especially in Republic City. Early cars, phonograph players, early radios, mafias, even some of the music at times gives that vibe.

Regarding the golden eyes, it’s a normal Fire Nation trait, not exclusive to Zuko’s family. Just as water tribe folks have blue eyes and earth citizens normally have green eyes
Not sure if its 100% true but mostly you do recognize peoples heritage in the show by the color of their eyes. Ember for Fire Nation. Blue for Water Tribe. Green for Earth Kingdom. And grey for the Air Nomads. In republic city a lot of people mix. Their parents are indeed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom.

**FREE OF SPOILERS :)** I think eye color, especially in ATLA, was pretty important when comes to bending/ancestry. Water benders have blue, Earth benders have green/brown, Fire benders have golden/redish toned eyes, Air benders have grey. Because we didn't see too many firebenders faces that weren't in the royal family, you may think that Golden eyes are a firebending royal trait/zuko specific but it isn't, because Admiral Zhao and Avatar Roku both had golden eyes as well and were not royals. There are some exceptions to this with some having black eyes (some non-benders) like Jet or Mai, or Suki having a tinge of dark blue and Ty lee having some grey. It could be a sign of some ancestry from those nations, like Kyoshi Island is close to the Southern Water tribe so it's possible some earth nation non-benders and water nation-non benders mixed a bit there. In Legend Of Korra, because of Republic City, a lot of people with different backgrounds have met there and started families-- primary example is our new characters Bolin and Mako, both brothers are related and have different bending abilities (fire and earth). And Katara and Aang's son Tenzin who is an Airbender regardless of Katara's waterbending genetic.
Tenzin and Korra both make a good point, times are changing Korra needs to learn all styles of fighting, traditional and modern but also hand to hand non bending. But also being the Avatar fighting shouldn't be the first thing you do unless it's with a gang like the first episode they need to be caught but without destroying half a city street next time.
I know a lot of people don’t like Korra because of how stubborn she is but you really can’t blame her. It’s how she was trained by the white lotus. You’d figure they would of had someone spiritual to help guide Korra while training in the other elements
I'm actually really surprised to how they reacted to Korra. Others are so quickly to judge but it's nice that they see the big picture, like Pudgey saying since they are not at war so Korra learned bending differently and at her own pace, there wasn't any hurry.
Hey guys, just wanted to comment that i found your channel during the book 3 finale episodes and wanted to let you know that after that i went and did the entire watch through and right when i was like, man i hope they do korra heres korra. Also love the formatting of your videos, well done!
Enjoyed your reaction. And I agree, despite being older, Korra is more naive than Aang as she was raised in a very different environment. Aang had already been exposed to different nations and peoples.
Just finished my first rewatch of Korra since I watched it when it some out. A couple weeks ago. So thick is good timing Had a couple friends watch it with me this time. Bunch of 34 year old nerds.
what's interesting is that both the pro bending and the air bender exercise are using the same technique. light on your feet, adjusting all the time, moving with the flow of energy around you. tenzin just hasn't found the right teaching method, korra needs something like pro bending that's more her style, with an opponent, clear goals, and learning curve she's used to.
Have you considered reading the Avatar comics and reviewing them? They're not merely tie-in comics you easily ignore, they deal with mysteries the show left dangling since it ended when they still had plotlines left for S4. As such, the first few comics deal with things like the mystery of Zuko's mother and the Fire-Earth Kingdom relations, it's very good! They're also fairly short and easy to read, so you guys could definitely review them or just do a stream talking about them one-by-one. I definitely recommend them. They'll also tie in to some of the events of Korra! Just something to consider.
These pro bending matches felt like the biggest missed opportunity to have a Pro Bending videogame. The closest we got to that is in the LoK videogame, but in small sections
all firebenders and in the fire nation are very similar so mako is just a very good regular firebender. Hope this isn't a spoiler but Mako and Bolin have no connection to Zuko and his family. I also like that you said mako is a fire bender while bolin is an earth bender, you were right their parents are from both the fire nation and the earth Kingdom
My hero Academy T-Shirt rules!... Altought the Dragonball and Naruto ones goes right into my overall favorite Anime series ever :) ... Korra showing in the 2nd episode why she's a different Avatar!
Korra kinda have some sense if Vibration. Everyone cherished her cause she's an avatar and she got everything what she wanted, so she needed some lessons from life
I feel like they could have made her struggle with airbending without making her 4 years old. She throws legitimate tantrums and she's 17. She even does it in front of the little kids who look up to her 14:42 also that training ground she burned down belonged the airbender kids for their training. I can't believe being self-absorbed with a propensity for tantrums is what the writers consider feisty and headstrong.

"In honor of Mako.." wondering if they remember that.?
A lot of your comments are making me excited (and impatient) for you to see what's coming and how certain things play out.
You can tell Tenzin has Kataras temper lol
NOBODY is like Kyoshi lol but what i find so interesting about Korra is shes a waterbender SPECIALIZED in Firebending. Hothead asf
We should all stop comparing the shows, if you prefer one just keep it to yourself and let's enjoy the ride, we're not here for the show itself, is that was the case, we would just watch it, we're here for the reaction
Mako, named after Iroh's original voice actor :)
Despite critics I really liked The Legend of Korra. Watched it years ago
"She seems very happy, and he seems stern and serious"... Hmm, that seems to remind me of some people, but I can't quite place who. :-)
**FREE OF SPOILERS :)**
I think eye color, especially in ATLA, was pretty important when comes to bending/ancestry.
Meelo is a little menace... HE'S THE BEST!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁
This episode is reference to the chase episode where aang moves through Azula and zuko’s attack in the three way fight
There was also sport bending in the Avatar airbender, Toph was a competitor
I know a lot of people don’t like Korra because of how stubborn she is but you really can’t blame her. It’s how she was trained by the white lotus. You’d figure they would of had someone spiritual to help guide Korra while training in the other elements
I'm actually really surprised to how they reacted to Korra. Others are so quickly to judge but it's nice that they see the big picture, like Pudgey saying since they are not at war so Korra learned bending differently and at her own pace, there wasn't any hurry.
I love korras' stubbornness
I think as you watch the show, you’ll start to see how Tenzin’s personality is more akin to Katara than Aang
Love how pudgy asks the right questions! We know what you mean and you might be on to something!
Just finished my first rewatch of Korra since I watched it when it some out. A couple weeks ago. So thick is good timing
Had a couple friends watch it with me this time. Bunch of 34 year old nerds.
i can barely wait for you guys to get even more into the lore of this universe that the shows bring
I couldn't wait for Spartan to see Pro Bending... I'm so pumped for this Kora Journey
Mako is named that because it was Irohs voice actors name and he passed away
what's interesting is that both the pro bending and the air bender exercise are using the same technique. light on your feet, adjusting all the time, moving with the flow of energy around you. tenzin just hasn't found the right teaching method, korra needs something like pro bending that's more her style, with an opponent, clear goals, and learning curve she's used to.
Mako is my favorite character named after the voice actor of Iroh 🔥🙌
Cool fact here, Mako's move in firebending inspired from Mohammad Ali
Mako, is named after atla first iroh voice actor who died during production of atla second season. Great reaction guys, love from argentina.
Assami is coming😍😍😍
Spartan “his heads mangled and it’s all bent” 🤣🤣
all firebenders and in the fire nation are very similar so mako is just a very good regular firebender. Hope this isn't a spoiler but Mako and Bolin have no connection to Zuko and his family. I also like that you said mako is a fire bender while bolin is an earth bender, you were right their parents are from both the fire nation and the earth Kingdom
"She's going to be humbled real soon" 😢😐🤫 and then some lol
My hero Academy T-Shirt rules!... Altought the Dragonball and Naruto ones goes right into my overall favorite Anime series ever :) ... Korra showing in the 2nd episode why she's a different Avatar!
Dante basko(Zuko) voices a character in this show that all I can say and I can't wait for you guys to hear it and pick up on it
to be fair to Korra, Aang also had avoided learning firebending a long time too
Spartan’s landing strip starts really high.
Mako was named after iroh’s original voice acter
Comparing Mako and Bolin to Zuko and Sokka isnt the best mindset to take into this show tbh. It may hurt your enjoyment if you think of them that way.
Mako gets made fun of a lot and gets a lot of shit from fans but dude is an absolute machine in terms of bending. Absolutely top tier.
"Stern and serious" = Spartan
"She seems very happy"= Pudgey lol
20:55 "What's happening here??"
Me: Too much... *sigh* Just.....just too goddamn much....
I can't wait for later episodes, even later seasons, I wish I could binge watch all of your reactions like I did to the ATLA reactions right now 😂
Golden eyes represents Firebender.
Korra kinda have some sense if Vibration. Everyone cherished her cause she's an avatar and she got everything what she wanted, so she needed some lessons from life
And we reach the introduction of best boy Bolin! 😁
Introducing Bolin, an earth bender Sokka
You guys do know that airbending is invisible to the naked eye unless the air is condensed
Airbend movements are entirely based on dodging, Korra struggles so much cause she is a full w person
I need more episodes to watch. Also y'all are in for a treat, the show gets dark pretty quickly
it dangerous for her to be in the city because she grew up in isolation learning the elements, but she is not used to city structure politics etc.
Thank you for making these videos, just came across your account and couldn’t help to subscribe and like 😅
Excited for you guys to see more of Amon, as well as Book 3, it's as good as ATLA Book 2
Technically Toph did a form of pro bending as the blind bandit, but it wasn’t like this
That's a good point, it's easier to have a normal teenage reaction to something because there isn't a massive world crisis to focus on.
so exciting watching you guys reacting to korra! *me being the only person in the comments who prefers LoK to ATLA*
Nah, lots of people prefer LoK. I like them both a lot but LoK edges it out a bit for me.
I love this choice of shows, I’m going to watch them all
😂😂 pro bending is basically just more advanced for what they did when y’all first saw the blind bandit too
Loving the reactions
Damn you guys are fast.
Avatar Korra is good. It's just very different and different times in the Avatar world.
22:23 When Spartan is wrong it's never important, lol.😂
I feel like they could have made her struggle with airbending without making her 4 years old. She throws legitimate tantrums and she's 17. She even does it in front of the little kids who look up to her 14:42 also that training ground she burned down belonged the airbender kids for their training. I can't believe being self-absorbed with a propensity for tantrums is what the writers consider feisty and headstrong.
all firebenders have that eye color bro
I love Legend of Korra
