    Thanks a lot for this video! My 2009 corolla is at ~85k miles, so this video will come in handy when it’s time to replace the alternator

      Dang! I can’t believe your corolla only has 85K. My corolla is at 135K!
      That corolla is not even broken in!

    Hey bro let me know if that fixed your issue with idle. Mine idles normally with a/c off but when I turn it on and im at a light stopped it jumps down to 600-700 rpms and almost sounds like its going to shut off but then picks back up in rpms.

      I have driving my car 4 times since I installed the new alternator, and it has yet to do the shudder. So I’m going to say this fixed it!

      @shahrozalijafri8816 2 года назад +2

      Is it on its original compressor?
      Also the car may need a tune up like its throttle body cleaned, spark plugs checked and all the other jazz before coming to the conclusion that the alternator is bad

      @@shahrozalijafri8816 Pretty sure it is. Dont know exactly everything about the car I just got it from my brother in law. I know it doesnt have the original engine. It was blown coming into town to visit us. They replaced it with an engine with like 140-160k and idk what all was replaced when the put in the new engine. He didnt do the work a shop did it. The car chassis has about 201k on it.

    Yo your next project should be an interior vinyl wrap! They sell custom kits for the '10gen Rolla which already come pre-cut dashboard kits for under $100. a nice glossy black would really suit yours well!

    Replaced my serpentine belt last month. Curious if anyone has replaced their alternator with a higher output one for car stereo upgrade?
    🤔

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 года назад +1

      I have heard people doing that. But usually they have like a huge stereo upgrade with like 2 12” subs and a much higher quality amp!

      Yeah i replaced mine with a 240 amp alt and running a 18 in the back of my corolla

    Hey know it been a year I have 2010 Toyota Corolla le , my vote go is 13.5 with everything on? All these auto stores says it fine , everyone says it should be about 14.50 I dk can you help? Thanks dude

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  Год назад

      With a bunch of accessories on, it will most likely be lower than the 14.5. But if it starts going lower then 13V, then it’s not going to charge the battery good. And will need a new alternator, or a better alternator!

    I put a alternator on a 2009 corolla and when I put the alternator on, the belt was loose even after tightening the alternator and angling the bracket how it was. I put everything on correctly and the belt is still loose. Any ideas?

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  Год назад

      The only thing I can think of would be a worn out belt.
      Have you tried to buy a new one and see if it fixes the problem?

  • @Isaiaha400

    My toyota dropped idle to 200rpm and was shaking really bad at stops. drove home fine now it wont start. Im thinking i had the same problem

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 года назад +1

      This helped my idle a little bit, but I also think it might be my battery. So it could either be a battery or the alternator! If you can jump start your car and it will run. Then it most likely is your battery.

    ⚠️Hi my 09 corolla has problem with the rpm dropping to 500 or 600 when I put it in gear and it shakes but when I turn on my head lights the rpm goes to 900 basically goes back to normal
    Does your car did that before you changed altinator or not ?? And did it fix your idle or not ??
    Cuz I'm im thinking its the altinator in my car too
    Big fan keep up the good work

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 года назад

      Yeah my corolla was doing the same thing. And when I changed this out it did seem to fix my idle issue. So hopefully it will stay fixed. I have only been driving with it for about 2 days now!

    Oh goody, I get to sound like an old geezer and do some dadsplainin 🤣🤣🤣
    When I was your age and maybe even younger, getting 30k-50k on an alternator was good. 🤷‍♂️
    The ratcheting pulley is the known weak link on those. The Chinese alternators on Amazon are garbage too. Apparently they don’t like to pack grease in bearings over there. So expect it to start squealing within the first 18 months.
    You probably have a local starter/alternator shop that can rebuild yours with quality parts, at a fair price. It’s worthwhile to have that sitting on your shelf.
    You can replace the ratchet pulley with a normal one too. Count your grooves and diameter of the pulley and search eBay.

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 года назад +1

      🤣 🤣
      I knew people could fix the alternators up, but I looked for like 5 minutes to see if I could find anyone local. ( so I didn’t look to hard).
      But I did keep the old one just in case I did want to try and rebuild it.
      But yeah we will see how long this cheap Chinese alternator last!

    The alternator carbon brushes wear out and thats all that needs replaced

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 года назад

      If I knew anything about alternators I would have rebuilt it. But since I don’t, that’s why I bought a new one.
      But in the future I plan to try to rebuild my old one!
