thanks, very helpful. This video is easy to understand, volume xcellent, voice is clear, lighting is great , helpful tool tips and pricing and where one could buy.
Thank you so much! I try my best at every aspect lol
Thanks my dude! Straight forward and got the job done. :)
No problem! I’m glad I could help
Great job man! Excellent video, informative instruction, very helpful. Just what I needed before I complete the job myself. Thanks!
Thank you! I’m glad I could help
Extremely great, helpful video! 😊
Thank you. I’m glad I could be of assistance
Very helpful. Helping out my Dad on his Corolla the top 12mm bolt broke off in the alternator. Ughh. Drilled it out but hole off centered. I'll just buy new alternator if i cant install old one correctly. Old belt had over 100k and it looked like yours. Thank you for the help.
Oh dang that’s a pain. Well I’m glad I could help
Hey do you remember where you got the new bolt by any chance?
This was very helpful! Thank you
You’re welcome. I’m glad I could help
Nice work. Your engine bay is hella clean compared to mine 😅
Thank you. I recently bought it and they did a good job cleaning it 😂
When i did my 2010 I used a Sharpie to mark the threads on the tensioner bolt and the alternator bolt in relation to each other and the bracket.
I didn’t think about it initially but the new belt is tighter than the old one and the bolt might not line up to the same spot
@@MTParadise my new belt was actually longer than the one being replaced but was good to have for a reference since I pulled the tensioner and all the upper bolts first 👍
@@somenotherdude333oh wow ok, then yeah 😂
Thanks for the video! It made it very easy for me 😊
No problem!
A tip for anyone trying to replace their Corolla alternator with an OEM type (I'm sure there are countless others too that could benefit from this) ... it isn't likely going to easily slide back over the bracket so the lower bolt will conveniently line up with the mount holes. I could not slide it on at all. After consulting with a friend that's a Toyota mechanic, BEFORE lowering the replacement alternator in there, insert the bolt and thread about half way down into the receiving threads thru the second hole. Hold the alternator against something non-destructive (my lap was sufficient) and strike the top of the bolt with a hammer - give it a couple good hard hits and you'll notice what looks like a built-in washer, which is obstructing the whole thing from seating over the bracket when trying to install it) will slowly become flush with the inside of the bolt hole surface. (I said this applies to OEM type replacements - Denso - because I have no experience with aftermarket units and whether they're designed without the obstruction.)
Thank you for adding that information
Super helpful thanks and clean car cleaner than mine 😅
No problem, I’m glad I could help. I recently got it and the dealership had it looking good 😂
Your video is clear, but how do you give it (the belt) tension at 8:40?
I just try to pull it up and hope it stays while I’m putting in the alternator
So I have a 2013 Corolla S would that belt fit for it?
I guess it’s a little bigger but this one looks like it’s for your car. amzn.to/3VqqT2K
I have a 2013 Corolla s as well. I put the alternator on but the belt will not get tight. It maxed out at the end of the tensioner. Buying a new belt tonight to see if that helps
Does the alternator have to be replaced at 100k? What's the lifespan for this thing? Thank you
Around 8 years or between 80,000 and 150,000 miles
I have a 2010 Pontiac Vibe and I can not loosen that bottom 14mm bolt. It's on ridiculously tight. Great series. I'll bookmark it for this car for when I need to replace other things.
I’ve had to use rubber mallets on bolts in the past. That might help loosen it. It’s interesting how those are pretty much the same engine and everything 😂
just replaced alternator on 2010 corolla last night... I squirted some PB Blaster on each bolt I knew I had to remove first, then when I was ready to get a wrench on it, I used a shorter socket wrench, short socket, and a pipe for extra leverage. It squeaked pretty good and only turned a little at a time due to the limits of the socket wrench in a tight space. After it gets going, a ratchet-box wrench worked great (but a powered 90 degree ratchet would make very short work of it.)
I broke the bolt at 4:14 off and I have no clue where to buy it, do you know the name by any chance? It would help me greatly, thanks!!!
It snapped in half 😭
Oh dang. I know I’ve gone into Home Depot and they have things you can stick it into to get the size or have someone help you. Amazon also has boxes of assorted automotive bolts that might also have that exact size, amzn.to/4i2HW4w
I guess my car hates me. I am having issues taking off that plastic cap and disconnecting the electrical connection. Nothing is bulging. Took a break for now. I'm about to just attack it with a flathead screwdriver.
Oh dang. Sometimes things get really tight on older cars
@@MTParadise Well, i'm done now fixing it. The alternator itself wouldn't bulge, and it's too cold outside here in Austin right now. I had to hit the alternator with my rubber mallet before it finally came off. The Flathead came in handy with the cap, electrical connection and the wiring harness connection. Everything was easy once it was off and the new alternator is working just fine now. Thanks for the video too.
@@simply_the_dev7588yeah it’s pretty cold in SATX. I didn’t think about the temp. I’m glad to hear you got it
