I just buy my first car yesterday, its a corolla 2009 sport blue color and im just loving all of the car, this video its very helpful for me because i know a sht about cars or mechanic haha, thanks for all men!
always happy seing a video from you, i live in denmark Europe and have a toyota corolla SE 1.6 petrol from 2007 sold as a 2008. so im alwas looking forward to see new ideas. keep up the good work
How much have you invested in this corolla? (apart from the car itself) I'm looking to deck out the one I have and I want a good estimate for how much I should be saving
With the wheels and tires, I have probably put in between 5K-6k. And that’s with me doing all the work! I actually made a video a while ago, if you look back at my channel, you might find the video I made that talks about how much I have spent!
No need to put oil in filter, as you only need to prime the car - turn key until oil light turns on (do not start engine). Then wait for oil light to turn off. At that point the oil pressure has built up and engine is primed for startup 👍
Nice ride 👌 I have a 2013 s with manual and have the same problem when it's cold it grinds from 2nd to 3rd did the oil change fix it it? Also mine makes like a rattle or ticking sound when accelerating, any ideas? Heard some say manifold heat sheild? Also when I did my 1st oil change the oil filter was so tight had to put a bar over wrench and kick it loose lol
Thank you! And yes since I have done the transmission drain and fill, I have not had a grind noise at all. And the rattle sounds like it is a heat shield. I know I had a rattle from mine, but it was the heat shield around the muffler. I just took mine off, and hasn’t given me any problems. Also I had the exact problem with my corolla, I had to use a impact to get mine off, it is what happens when the dealership does the oil changes.
Honestly I just put in some LED bulbs for my high beams. And the DRL doesn’t work unless I added a resistor, so I never added one.But the high beams work good still.
He cut the DRL wire in the cabin behind the glovebox (its a blue wire; if u wanna do it I recommend watching a video on how to do so) so now he manually controls his headlights only with the knob on the left side of the steering wheel. **that's how I think he did it but I could be wrong**
Hey brandon, is 0w20 i good oil for toyota corolla 2012 le 1.6. Do let me know your insights. I usually go to service centre and get the oil change done. But i want to start working myself on the car.
I’m not familiar with the 1.6L, but I would imagine it would take 0W-20. And I would think it’s very similar to the 1.8L which I have. Because Most newer Toyotas will take that. But I would double check your owners manual, it will tell you the type of oil and how much oil you need! But it’s always much better to do your maintenance and it saves you money too!
I did my oil change a couple months ago but could not change the filter because I couldn't find a suitable socket to fit the back of the filter wrench, which I got from Walmart. I had to also do it in my apartment parking lot which was not a good experience with all the neighbors staring lol and also I had to use two regular jacks on front tires.. don't got jack stands.. it seems like if you wanna work on your car yourself you sure need a lot of equipment and a garage or driveway..
Yeah it really makes everything easier when you have the correct tools. And having a garage or drive does make it nicer to work on cars. But once you get a good routine down it will be nice and easy no matter where you are! Trust me my first couple oil changes were not the best, even in my garage. It’s just as soon as I got a good routine it’s nice and easy and goes very quick!
So far it’s only been a week, but I haven’t noticed it. But it only happened to me every once in a while. I can try to update you later on and tell you if it helped our not.
That’s pretty low miles for a corolla. So I would say it’s a pretty good deal, it also depends on what trim you got? If it’s an S, then it’s a really great deal, and if it’s a base model, it’s a decent deal. Because I paid about 5K for my corolla with 115K miles and it’s only base corolla, with roll up windows and manual door locks.
@@Nbs.2000 no I haven’t had any problems, and I have had the tint on for almost 2 years now. But in Florida the legal tint in the front windows is 25% and I believe you can put as dark as you want on the rear windows. So I’m not noticeable darker then what is legal.

That’s awesome! Corollas are a great first car!
But I’m glad the video was helpful!
You gave me all faith to make my Corolla look badass I got it from someone in a fender bender and still have my black bumper thank you for the hope!
I’m glad! Corollas I feel are very underrated cars and can be a nice car to modify and have fun with!
I was about to do my car too...and this video poped up in my recommendation
Awesome! I hope the video helps!

I will have to keep that in mind, didn’t know you could prime the oil pump!
Thanks 👍
You're lucky to have found a manual. That must be fun outside of traffic
I agree! I would have loved to find a corolla S with a manual, but as soon as I seen this one I had to get it!

I will reccommend you LIQUI MOLY PROLINE FLUSH ..my corolla has 310000km and i did it ..car is much smoother and engine runs cooler than before ..
I will have to take a look into that!
How did u get ur daytime running lights to stay off ?

my 2010 corolla s just got rear ended today. its totaled and i was 2k into it
Dang that sucks, that’s honestly my worse nightmare, for that to happen to one of my cars!
@@BrandonStellmach yea i had it lowered on megan racing coilovers for like 2 weeks and was about to buy some wheels and lights
@@ethanduke813 dang that sucks, we’re you able to get any of your mods back off the car?
I got a Baxter oil filter housing so I can use a metal oil filter and not have the plastic one breaking on me twice so far
I have been looking at getting one of those! But luckily I haven’t had any problems with the plastic one yet!
Yeah! Corolla action 👍🙏👍
Hyperlink for pump I'm description is broken. Other hyperlinks work fine. Had to copy and paste the broken link.
Thanks for letting me know! I updated the link. It should work now!

I have the same issue going from 2nd to 3rd gear. Did this help at all?

I have to the same issue changing gears, did this help? Cuz if yes I’m planning to change mine too😁
So far it’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t had any grinds at all. So it seems to have fixed my problem!
Hi, any problems after you changed the transmision oil?
Honestly doing this has helped my transmission. Because I used to have a syncro grind between 2nd and 3rd and now it doesn’t grind.
@@BrandonStellmach Thnk's.
Where did u get that sick air filter/intake?
It’s a Injen cold air intake for the corollas!
I have an old video of me installing it, if your interested!

I saw that your car has the Low Fog Lights...Where did you get them ? Do you have a link ?
I can’t find the exact ones I bought. But these are very similar to what I have for my fog lights.

09 & 2010 Toyota Corolla S and LE both have power windows & locks
Good job, how did you learn to work on cars, Are you a qualified mechanic?
Thank you!
And I learned just by doing it over time, started with just doing oil changes, now I will practically change anything!
@@BrandonStellmach cheers
what percent tint do you have?
I have 15% all around. Except on the windshield.

Buy another corolla and start new series 🙃🙊
