Yeah maybe the girl in the ride audio could narrate it on how she became like this and what the dark forest is exactly and maybe just a thought it could tie into hex somehow I know bit of a stretch but it would be cool to see
When I first went to go on thirteen, I literally went into a panic attack and refused to go on. I went on a year later and wondered why I was so scared. Then I got stung by a wasp that came out of a bin in the queue. I never looked at that ride the same way again 😂
the wasp thing i literally was sitting in the carriage and the worker came to check my bar and a wasp came and she jumped and we both started flinging our arms about i eventually got stung 😂
Elena Fox Even though I got stung once I was on the coaster my brain forgot about the sting and it didn’t bother me. The one thing I was worried about was that the lap bar would cause more pain, but luckily it didn’t 👍
Love, love, love Th13teen and it's mostly about the reactions of others - almost every time you ride, you're guaranteed to be sitting with people who have no idea what's coming, and I LOVE hearing their shock/surprise/fear. 😄
My dad and I rode Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and I didn't tell him about the drop track feature and after it dropped he said "What was that?!"
I really like THI3TEEN, it was only a couple of years old when i was first on it. The drop track was a complete surprise to me. That then zipping out backwards was so cool. The theme is really cool. It was my daughters first big coaster, she was only 8 & was scared of the themeing but loved it & instantly wanted to go again so it will always be a fave for those reasons.
I haven’t been on Thirteen yet!! But with a trip to Alton towers in planning for 2021 it won’t be long until I do!! I’ve watched POVs and of course the vlogs so know what to expect!! In terms of next reviews Dragons Fury at Chessington, Black Mamba at Phantasialand, Hyperspace Mountain at Disneyland Paris!! Loved the video as always Shawn
I couldn't agree more. Definitely lacking something more out in the forest, even just some audio. It's like they forgot about the majority of the track time! Love the theming, the drop gets me every time!
When people don't rate thirteen. It's not all about horror or big scares. It's the experience of riding a coaster. And this is just a perfect taste for younger kids
I'm loving the content, keeping me entertained during the lockdown. I would love to see a video reviewing some classic scare mazes like the Sanctuary or the Asylum, or even a video ranking your favourite scare mazes. Keep up the great work!
I love thirteen! The theming and drop track makes it for me! More theming in the woods would be great - an animatronic of the girl from the advert would be awesome!
I've been watching this channel for absolutely years now and is it's easily in the top 3 best Coster channels on RUclips I've marathoned all of the European tours at least three or 4 times and also with the American which brings back so much I used to go to knotts berry farm all the time when we were on holiday we went to California twice a year because of my dad's job but he didn't have to do any work out they're so basically it was a free holiday twice a year for over 10-years I first road the timber mountain log ride at knott's berry farm in 1983 lol keep up the good work mate and you're better half you guys do a fantastic job one of the best channels on the whole of RUclips
I do like thirteen and it’s a great addition to the park, but I think as well it definitely needs something. I feel as Alton towers introduced the pre show for wicker man I feel this is need for this ride as it would definitely benefit from it. There’s so much more tech today towards shows and creating atmosphere a small pre show with a projection or a few Sfx would give this ride a new feel towards it. Brilliant video as always Shaun.
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on the marketing . If it was marketed as a fun adventurous coaster for all the family people would be satisfied and happy with the addition from the get-go , but instead they were expecting something much more mature. I love thirteen , because when i first went to alton i was 8 and i didn't even know it existed.. i was very surprised to be dropped and i really enjoyed the ride .... brilliant video as always !
My first ride on Th13teen I had no idea about the drop track. I’d been living abroad for many years so knew nothing about it. So I got the full experience on the ride and it was amazing! One of my favs at Alton Towers.
I love Thi3teen! It is a great ride. I've always wondered what you do in the backwards dark section and I didn't realise it was a helix! Also, I tend forget how you get wiped over the first drop, near to the back of the train. It is a great moment!
I miss this ride at Halloween back in the day, with the mist near the abandoned van and the girl from the theme appearing through it! Made it even more daunting knowing those guys wearing woven hooded potato sacks was waiting at the exit line for you too! Hope its not just me that remembers!? Great times!
I went to towers for the first time in many years last summer and me and my other half went on that more than anything else. It's a brilliant coaster. Definitely one of my favourite coasters.
Totally agree with you. I first rode it in 2018 and I thought it was a good family ride. Also, I didn’t tell my mum about the drop track so she was very scared when the train dropped 😂! Again, thanks for the great content you are supplying at the moment!
Loads of people hate on TH13TEEN but it is actually fun. Vampire, Wicker Man and TH13TEEN were my first main rollercoasters. I had a celebration yesterday because I am finally 1.4m!
I have seen a video from another RUclipsr about this ride which included the ad in addition to the criticism the ride received after it opened.. But I'm glad in your video you could tell us why the ride is actually really good! Alton Towers is really high on my amusement park bucket list (along with Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Thorpe Park) and now I'm really looking forward to riding this one!
Glad to see some appreciation for this coaster! I went on it as a kid and I was scared out of my mind 😂. Been on it recently and had a great time. Really underrated in my opinion
I was so scared if the Th13teen adverts when it came out, I refused to ride the coaster because I'm a wuss and thought this is going to scare me too much 😂 Was feeling brave in 2011 and went on and was like what was I even worried about 😂😂 Completely agree it was marketed all wrong!
I agree Shawn, after riding it for the first time, I thought it was pretty average, but a year later without the media hype, i forgot how good it actually was the first time. It really is still quite scary! Great family coaster.
Just another review which I would love, doing a review on Paultons Park as general cause the rides are tame but it's a local park so I absolutely love it!
I remember coming off of th13teen when I first rode it and thinking ‘that ad was a bit extreme🤣’ I thought it was going to be terror of the towers but in a coaster! I’m glad with wickerman the ads were I’d say an accurate representation.
This one surprised me actually. There were 3 moments of pretty strong airtime on this coaster which I wasn't at all expecting from the POV i watched. Good family coaster but I get why people were disappointed seeing as marketing made this coaster look terrifying. I would like to see a little more theming in the queue as other than the van covered in vines there isn't very much to look at in the outdoor section of the queue.
Your reviews are excellent Shawn. You always give a measured response and point out details that could so easily be missed. I agree the marketing, whilst brilliant, gave the wrong impression. That said, I love this ride, always enjoy it but even more so if riding with a first timer. Love the drop and the backwards section the most but like the whole ride experience. I’d be very interested to hear your views on Rita, especially as you’ve ridden a number of launch coasters around the world. Also interested to hear your take on some of the old woodies like Grand National at BPB.
I really like this ride. I managed to get my non-enthusiast best friend onto it at their first day ever at a theme park at all (crazy considering she was 20 at the time!) last summer. She had no idea that the drop track was coming, and it made the experience so much funnier. Wardley and MMM at their best, with what is arguably the best family coaster in the U.K!
Th13teen is one of my favorite family coaster, and this ride proves that size does not matter as this possibly better experience to the likes of the smiler, for a family coaster it does pick up some speed especially with those kicker wheels.
Thanks for another amazing video, its great to see that others can see past the marketing and see how amazingly it fits into the parks line-up, keep up the hard work, you r keeping everyone happy during these tough times and its nice to see that u r doinb well
The first time I was able to ride Thirteen was during the 2011 Scarefest, and let me tell you, the theming for it at the time was INCREDIBLE. From what I remember, they had hooded actors out in the forests, barely visible, as well as the girl from the adverts crouched down at a point in the queue. To top it off, there was another hooded actor who you jump out at you as you left the gift shop, banging the metal behind him as he did. That absolutely terrified me
The thing I love about Thirteen is it always surprises you and surpasses your memories. Maybe that's what always makes sure the qline is one of longest or maybe it's just poorer operations.
Th13teen is an awesome ride. First time I went on this rollercoaster I sat at the back that pull on the back row was intense lol and that drop I felt my stomach in my throat lol. I love the fact you don't really see the coaster it just adds to the curiosity of it. Saying that most of the rollercoaster at Alton Towers are like that great review Shaun 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
When I went to Alton towers I thought it would be a tame coaster that was normal but then when we got into the building I didn’t expect the drop and my face went from this 😁 to this 🤬🤬
Can definitely relate to the kicker wheel noise, it really is very satisfying! At the end of scarefest last year when I was on it the trims didn't activate and we ended up stopping on the second lift so the staff had to come and reset the ride but it was fun having a faster ride! Loving the new review series though 👍
Like so many attractions in the UK .... awesome when 13 opened ...a solid ride that just needs a refresh ....pre show story and second 'scare ' towards the end of the experience ..a new dark indoor section located at the switch track in which the coaster finally escapes !!
I always said the same that this ride needed a preshow or just something to get the story across a bit better, i remember riding it first and thinking whats all this scaffolding the ride looks unfinished, until i afterwards found out that it was meant to be that way
Nice video shawn! I agree with what you say and I think that it would have been good if the forest section was longer or more interesting as I always feel that part goes too quick.
I remember going opening year and it broke down as I got to the front of the queue and closed all day I was due for a major operation and was so gutted so I complained and they gave me 4 tickets plus fast tracks for every ride for free which was brilliant of them. I love thirteen such a fun ride
If you go down to the woods, you better not go alone, indeed. Smart 13 shirt for Shawn to match this review. The TV advert reminds me of Jumanji 1 with the vines. I would like a review of Oblivion. Make sure you and Shawn stay well and safe. 😊
My cousin was terrified to go on th13teen when we went as she kept watching the advert over and over luckily we got her on it and it’s in her top rides list 🙌🏻🙌🏻 xxxx
Your review videos are really good, love watching them. I have never been to England but I would like to someday, looks like lots of great coasters there.
Totally agree, when it first opened the marketing was very much overhyped. However, it is a solid family coaster especially if you don't know quite what goes on inside. The audio is great and the theming is decent too, a preshow would be a nice addition to sell the story. but overall a great family coaster that has grown over time.
I love TH13TEEN Especially at Scarefest I love what they’ve done with the Dark Forest music in the last couple of years at Scarefest It changes to a darker metal style theme when it gets dark It really adds to the feel of the area
Honestly, how were they meant to market it?, just some guy saying "Th13teen, its scary, but not too scary, and little children can ride it too" . Never mind that sounds more creepy for all the wrong reasons...
One of my favourite coasters and if I'm at Alton Towers with a coaster virgin I start them on Th13teen i think its a great first coaster to start someone on there journey!!
Your best review yet imo I agree, the marketing was more for a thrill ride than a family coaster at what it is. It's a shame because the pr work and marketing was amazing but just didn't fit that particular ride. I also love thirteen! And has only of the best ride stations around.
Defo agree that it’s a back row coaster! Also agree it’s great at night... even if you do get blinded by the onride camera! I also think Th13teens return to station launch is better than Rita’s 😂
Another first for me this week and another fantastic ride. Was not expecting the last element even though i'd heard stories. (Still think the scariest ride at A.T. is the skyride lol)
Only managed to get on for the first time last year. I quite enjoyed it but with already knowing the drop there wasn't much more too it. At least with Oblivion what you see is what you get. Good theming and pre show
I was terrified of rollercoasters and this was the first ‘big’ coaster I ever went on, my boyfriend told me it was like the buffalo coaster and that’s the only reason he got me on it, after the first drop I thought I was going to die😂 It’s my favourite coaster now.
Hey up ... bang on with the review. As a manager of a bookshop and avid reader as well as huge coaster fan, I love anything horror-gothic style and yes, it really was false advertising, but I think maybe they were afraid to market a family coaster because at the time, family coasters were seen a large much tamer off-the-shelf models. The thrill level of a family coaster has moved on, much the same way that films that were a 15 certificate years ago are now a 12 (Top Gun and Dirty Dancing just two examples). And yet the only things I would change in 13 are the height ... make it another 10ft or dig a little to give a longer drop, and increase the length of the woodland section to soak up the speed rather than trimming ... and indeed, add more theming. And extend the more immersive crypt theming around the second lift. I get it, there’s a finite pot of money. And I’ve never been convinced of the merit of calling a coaster ‘Rita’ and then when the Dark Forest arrives, an ideal name change and retheme opportunity completely ignored. I’d love to be a fly on the wall for that boardroom meeting. Particularly now that more and more people can travel to or at least virtually experience theme parks around the world, Alton, as wonderful as it is, needs to up its game. Rita is a far inferior coaster to 13. Oh heck, now I’m rambling ... So yes, let’s discuss Rita.
I’ve always loved this ride, especially when it first opened & not many people knew about the free fall section - the reactions were brilliant 😂 & this ride is even better in the dark during scarefest! A pre-show like the wickerman has would’ve been a good touch to add to the story.
I absolutely love thirteen, it was the first coaster I ever did and I remember being terrified on my first time, my friend had to drag me on it! It was the ride that got me into rides, and never fails to disappoint regarding theming, audio and track layout 💛
I love your vids bro, isn’t it a pity the UK parks are limited to the tree line rules, anyway keep up the good work, me and my kids go to the parks a lot and I agree on a lot of what u say 👍
Okay I was 10ish when thirteen opened and I legit had nightmares from them tv adverts😂 it’s one of my favourites at Alton towers and I think it’s a great family coaster!
When I first when on it on open year I did cry aha. But I do adore the ride, yes it was badly marketed but it's still amazing. It's scary for the youngsters. A memory I have was from last year taking my 6 yr old cousin on the ride for the first time, he looked shell shocked and he did cry bless him. But it's such a great family ride and it's one of my favourites in the uk
Really enjoy Thi3teen, Remember waiting 80 minutes on opening season to go on it .they should re introduce the coil in the station, seems to be off ?Also the wraiths in the station.Agree a pre show would be brilliant along with a few things in the forest.
Only complaint i have with thirteen is the fact that it literally has the longest queue line in the park, went yesterday for my first ever ride on Thirteen and the queue line bare in mind was empty took a good 5 minutes to walk through 🥵
The full effect of Thirteen comes at night in the dark, that ride is something else and the merchandise is spot on for it !
It sure is an epic night ride!
Absolutely my favourite merch. I'm a metalhead as well so it completely and utterly plays into my "metal" lifestyle, if you know what I mean? 😂
The best family coaster at towers absolutely love the adrenaline you get on the free fall it's just over all amazing for what we have
XM-JD_HYPER makes me feel like when I used to climb the rope in gym class.
I thought it was 😅
Green spooky logo? Check.
Creepy branches? Check.
Definitely agree with adding a pre show, maybe a dark ride would be good to expand the story of Th13teen
Yeah maybe the girl in the ride audio could narrate it on how she became like this and what the dark forest is exactly and maybe just a thought it could tie into hex somehow I know bit of a stretch but it would be cool to see
In my opinion this has to be the most underrated coaster in the whole of the uk
That’s true. Thirteen gets a lot of hate but honestly it is better than Rita
When I first went to go on thirteen, I literally went into a panic attack and refused to go on. I went on a year later and wondered why I was so scared. Then I got stung by a wasp that came out of a bin in the queue. I never looked at that ride the same way again 😂
JimFilms too many wasps I waited 45 mins for the worst coaster in the park and these girls were screamingggg because of them I was in such a bad mood
JimFilms, I was the same at part for the wasp bit
the wasp thing i literally was sitting in the carriage and the worker came to check my bar and a wasp came and she jumped and we both started flinging our arms about i eventually got stung 😂
I got stung by a wasp on Nemesis. There was no way of getting off. It was the most painful experience I've had on a coaster haha.
Only those who have took someone else on the ride with them and not told them about the drop element can like this comment.
lucidwade all my friends ruined it in Y6, so I wouldn’t be scared 😔
Perebima _ at least it shows your friends care for you😂
My dad and I rode Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and I didn't tell him about the drop track feature and after it dropped he said "What was that?!"
I had no idea and it shook me
My family tricked me into going on it 💀
I really like THI3TEEN, it was only a couple of years old when i was first on it. The drop track was a complete surprise to me. That then zipping out backwards was so cool. The theme is really cool. It was my daughters first big coaster, she was only 8 & was scared of the themeing but loved it & instantly wanted to go again so it will always be a fave for those reasons.

I couldn't agree more. Definitely lacking something more out in the forest, even just some audio. It's like they forgot about the majority of the track time! Love the theming, the drop gets me every time!
Needs a helix on there.
HELIX! HELIX!
It’s a very small ride. Just a couple twists and turns and a free fall drop.
Thanks for these great suggestions
I love thirteen! The theming and drop track makes it for me! More theming in the woods would be great - an animatronic of the girl from the advert would be awesome!
I've been watching this channel for absolutely years now and is it's easily in the top 3 best Coster channels on RUclips

I love the kicker wheel sound too, it's so satisfying!
Love th13teen. Second best at Alton Towers. Wicker man is the best. Keep up the good work
Hey Shawn, I just wanted to say thank you! These reviews are awesome, and they're making the lockdown just a little bit easier :)
Thank you! More on the way
This channel is my life while in quarantine. Keep up the great vids. Thanks!!
Thank you!
I love Thi3teen! It is a great ride. I've always wondered what you do in the backwards dark section and I didn't realise it was a helix! Also, I tend forget how you get wiped over the first drop, near to the back of the train. It is a great moment!
Loving all these videos, especially during lockdown. Can’t wait for parks to reopen and the vlogs will be rolling in! Thanks Shawn.
Thank you, we can’t wait!

You should do a shambala review. Absolutely adore that ride.
Could also do a top 10 family coasters video.
The song is fun in the plaza when you hear the dude chanting "Shum-balaaaa Shum-bah-laaaaa Shambah-laaaaaaaaaaaa!"
lol
Glad to see some appreciation for this coaster! I went on it as a kid and I was scared out of my mind 😂. Been on it recently and had a great time. Really underrated in my opinion
I think it's a unique rollercoaster that definitely holds a title as its own Fantastic alton towers ride
The drop track on this ride is fantastic, and a very smooth coaster indeed! Nice review (as always)
Hello Shawn . I am the bunny brigade person from instagram. I was inspired by you to make my channel. You are the best!😃

I actually like the lack of a 'pre-show'. It makes the Tesla coil more of a 'thing'.
The first time I was able to ride Thirteen was during the 2011 Scarefest, and let me tell you, the theming for it at the time was INCREDIBLE. I didn’t even know about the door closing behind. I’ll definitely look out for that next time I go on
I absolutely love these review videos. Keep it up ❤

I'd like a shockwave review from Drayton, alot of people would like to know what standing up on a coaster feels like
I always said the same that this ride needed a preshow or just something to get the story across a bit better, i remember riding it first and thinking whats all this scaffolding the ride looks unfinished, until i afterwards found out that it was meant to be that way
I do think it’s strange that it was ‘meant’ to look really crap. It was an awful budget based decision, nothing more.
Nice video shawn! I agree with what you say and I think that it would have been good if the forest section was longer or more interesting as I always feel that part goes too quick.
Really enjoying these review videos!
Thanks Laura, more on the way!

Great review Shawn. Couldn’t agree more!
Thirteen is my favourite coaster that I have been on and your videos make me smile and stay safe
Amazing. Loving all these reviews!
Loving the daily uploads! Your reviews are great and well put together 👍😁
Thank you!

I love this coaster, amazing family coaster!
My cousin was terrified to go on th13teen when we went as she kept watching the advert over and over luckily we got her on it and it’s in her top rides list 🙌🏻🙌🏻 xxxx
thirteen was my first coaster that started the obsession! love it
Your review videos are really good, love watching them. I have never been to England but I would like to someday, looks like lots of great coasters there.
Thank you
Totally agree, when it first opened the marketing was very much overhyped. However, it is a solid family coaster especially if you don't know quite what goes on inside.
The audio is great and the theming is decent too, a preshow would be a nice addition to sell the story. but overall a great family coaster that has grown over time.
I love TH13TEEN
Especially at Scarefest
I love what they’ve done with the Dark Forest music in the last couple of years at Scarefest
It changes to a darker metal style theme when it gets dark
It really adds to the feel of the area
Honestly, how were they meant to market it?, just some guy saying "Th13teen, its scary, but not too scary, and little children can ride it too" .
Never mind that sounds more creepy for all the wrong reasons...
Hey kids, we have a new ride for you. And see that dark hidden building, there is something epic in there you don’t want to miss. :)
I’d of marketed the ride as more of an adventure than thrilling!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Fair enough!
Im enjoying these review series! i bet you will need an air cannon in the TPW shed as its meant to get hotter the next few weeks!
Thank you for watching!
One of my favourite coasters and if I'm at Alton Towers with a coaster virgin I start them on Th13teen i think its a great first coaster to start someone on there journey!!
Your best review yet imo
I agree, the marketing was more for a thrill ride than a family coaster at what it is.
It's a shame because the pr work and marketing was amazing but just didn't fit that particular ride.
I also love thirteen! And has only of the best ride stations around.
Thank you!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Credit were it's due!
Thank you for keeping me sane during quarantine
Thanks for watching!
The way he said its a people eater made me chuckle
Defo agree that it’s a back row coaster! Also agree it’s great at night... even if you do get blinded by the onride camera! I also think Th13teens return to station launch is better than Rita’s 😂
Another first for me this week and another fantastic ride. Was not expecting the last element even though i'd heard stories. (Still think the scariest ride at A.T. is the skyride lol)
Never realized how much inspiration BGW took from th13teen for verboten.
Only managed to get on for the first time last year. I quite enjoyed it but with already knowing the drop there wasn't much more too it. At least with Oblivion what you see is what you get. Good theming and pre show
YESS I am in loveeee with this ride 🥰🥰 brilliant video shawn 🥳🥳🥳
I was terrified of rollercoasters and this was the first ‘big’ coaster I ever went on, my boyfriend told me it was like the buffalo coaster and that’s the only reason he got me on it, after the first drop I thought I was going to die😂 It’s my favourite coaster now.
Thirteen was a pretty decent ride in my visit 2 years ago but I don’t know why the fast pass queue is in the exit, it’s confusing.
It's a great family coaster, we should just appreciate it for what it is all the best for the future Shawn 🎢🎢🎢🎢👍
Hope your safe ad well another awesome video
Another great video Shawn 👍🏻
Hey up ... bang on with the review.
Thanks for sharing this!
I’ve always loved this ride, especially when it first opened & not many people knew about the free fall section - the reactions were brilliant 😂 & this ride is even better in the dark during scarefest! A pre-show like the wickerman has would’ve been a good touch to add to the story.
Seeing this go through the woods reminds me of the ultimate at light water valley a bit with the twist and turns passed trees.
I would like to see a review of Verbolten!
More reviews on the way!
Theme Park Worldwide Thanks!!
Got to love the dark twisted theming of Alton Towers, it would be great if you could review something at Drayton Manor :)
I absolutely love thirteen, it was the first coaster I ever did and I remember being terrified on my first time, my friend had to drag me on it! It was the ride that got me into rides, and never fails to disappoint regarding theming, audio and track layout 💛
Thanks for sharing your review Alice!
Yes!! Another review!! You’re the best, Shaun! (Hope I spelled your name right, lol).
Thank you, it’s Shawn!
Love these videos can't wait to see more
More on the way!
I went in 2011. Went on for the first time. Thought it was a brilliant ride especially the second drop
I love your vids bro, isn’t it a pity the UK parks are limited to the tree line rules, anyway keep up the good work, me and my kids go to the parks a lot and I agree on a lot of what u say 👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
