Can't tell you just how much I appreciate you! My brother always walked me through repairs, he is in Heaven now. Thank you for making me feel like my brother is here while I replace these rollers! ❤️
Perfect easy to follow instructions, very much appreciated.
*Steve: Thank you for another superb presentation towards renewing my LGR7646. It's decades older than one shown but the guts are all the same since 1966. Cheers!*
Thank you so much! This clear, easy to follow tutorial has saved me three times now. I’ve replaced my rollers twice and today I realized that the reason my dryer stopped turning after putting a very heavy, wet comforter in it it was that the belt had broken. I used this tutorial again and the leftover spare belt from the last roller replacement to save myself from buying a new dryer!
This was invaluable as we replaced our drum rollers and belt. We couldn't have done it ourselves without this wonderfully detailed video. Thanks so very much!!! My dryer is working like new again 😃
This was great! Worked for my model, and made for a delightful little Sunday couple's project. Plus I found $20 of lost change inside my dryer!
Steve, this was a superb tutorial. What a great job you did. You simplified everything with good pace & time for us to absorb your instructions. Your a thoughtful teacher. The camera shots were clear, poignant & well thought out. Thank you, you helped me get out of a pickle . I almost ditched my 6 year old dryer for a new one. That's much too soon, & the thought of having to buy another new one knowing it won't last either is ridiculous. Have a great weekend my good man !
Thank you for this!! I’ve had my dryer for 8 years and recently it started this ridiculous thumping. The dryer worked, so I knew it had to be something fix-able (I wasn’t about to spend $400 on a new one). This video convinced me it was the support rollers. I took my dryer apart as the video instructed and, sure enough, the rollers were a mess. This video was clear, to the point, no-nonsense. Thank you. I’m am so NOT a do-it-yourself kind of guy but this video made it simple. Thank you.
I've called so many appliance repair places around me and told them I needed a roller kit put on my dryer and they either won't return my call or they try to sell me something else like a new thermostat. I think I'm going to try the repair myself.
*Excellent, fantastic teacher and speaker!!* Thank you! Most RUclips tutorials are done by big egos who want to feel important and take 10 minutes just to introduce the project, but this gentleman gets right to it and cares about the viewer, not himself. He's not some unprofessional hack who can't teach or spends his time telling us about his life in a long introduction, he's a quality teacher. Thank you again.
Thank you for saving me hundreds of dollars! Though we didn’t end up needing to replace the rollers, we found a button that made its way into the felt padding and was snagging the drum. Your video helped me diagnose and take apart everything in much less time than figuring it out on my own. Very thankful!
Thank you for your easy to follow videos. I used them to first change out a worn pulley and fraying belt and second to replace the drum rollers. The cost for each (with tax) was just over $34.00. The service call alone would have been $ 145.00, not to mention labour, parts, tax, parts, and disposal fee. You saved me literally hundreds. Cheers!
Thank you so much for making this amazing video! Sears came and diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts, but they've cancelled twice when it was time to make the repair. Watching your video made this repair very easy and I've happily cancelled my third Sears repair appointment!
All of this excellent professional work and no explanation on why we really need to replace rollers.
Because the rubber on the rollers eventually wear down and your left with just the plastic wheel. and you will no,because of the loudness of your dryer thumping .
Your videos are awesome. I was able to watch the one on replacing the belt and follow along step by step. I’ve had it only 2 years and purchased a protection plan. I attempted to call them and was on hold for 45 min then the phone just went dead. There was no possible way to speak with a person. Thank you for your services. God bless you. As a single, female I was able to complete the repair myself.
Glad we were able to help!
Steve, I don’t know how much money you save me but I do know this, it cost me $17 for the belt for my whirlpool dryer that Has to be at least 20 years old. I am 67 and a widow and becoming a handyman and through RUclips and videos like yours. 99% of the time I have saved money and a appliance or plumbing. Your video is easy to follow. my 68-year-old cousin who is also A widow was my second pair of hands because my shoulder was just not strong enough to hold the time while I was under it. LOL thank you so much for your insight and help. May God supernaturally bless you.
A new maintenance man, I watch diy videos all the time, and this one is the best. Thank you sir. Great great speed, very clear. Extremely helpful.
Amazon for parts, RUclips for this video. I am now a Whirlpool Man in my own home. Every step of this video was helpful. Thank you for showing me how to get this back to the almost new condition. Soooo much quieter again!!! THANK YOU!!!!
LIFE SAVER! Dryer broke on Thursday night, repair guys (guys! Called many of them) could not come until Tuesday. Watched this, went to appliance store, replaced the rollers! BOOM! Money saved! Time saved!
Such a great video. To the point, no fillers, good camera angles. I am now an expert too--thanks!
I haven't tried this repair yet, but just wanted to mention what a great video it is. Everything is shown clearly with just the right amount of talking.
God Bless you sir for this video. My parents thought they were going to need a brand new dryer when it started making that loud banging noise. I found this video, followed it to the T, turned her back on & it sounded smooth & like new. None of us had ever opened up a dryer before tonight. I just used a new belt & rollers. I also used rubbing alcohol on the shafts that the rollers are on, to clean them well. THANK YOU!
(the outer rubber on one of the rollers came completely off & was worn out. that was apparently our problem btw.)
Does Steve get an award for this? Get Steve a gold medal or something. What a legend.
This worked exactly perfectly!!! Be sure to have a vacuum on hand when doing yours!
I followed your directions and my 10 year old daughter was able to help me replace both rollers in less than 30 minutes. The dryer sounds new again. Thank you!!!
You are a great teacher - thank you for this video! Your instructions were easy to follow and - like someone else pointed out - thanks for adding the tip on checking the felt strip on drum and belt placement. These are tiny details that a professional might forget to mention to the do-it-yourselfer.
I wish I would have watched this video before I took the whole back end off. Fan blower heater exhaust. Spent 2 hours taking it apart and after I watched your video it took me 15 minutes to put it back together, thanks.
Thank you! The dryer sounded like it was going over pot holes in the road. Lowes wanted $548 to replace it. Watched your video and replaced the drum rollers. Easy job. $22 for the roller kit.
Much respect to you and everyone involved in this vid. Very cool to be able to get down and figure out how to fix my dryer's squeaking noise. These dryer's are built to last as long as you are willing to get in there and give it some TLC.
Those locking tabs are the bane of my existence. Thanks for the vid!
good god Ithought I was alone. Im ready to take a freaking mallet to it.
This video help me out a lot. Rollers on my dryer were falling off. Thank you for showing this helpful video. Instead of hundreds of dollars on a new dryer I paid $50 for a kit.
This video is the best one for fixing a noisy dryer. The Thumping got louder and louder. I think it was the drum rollers. Purchased the kit which included the belt, drum rollers and pulley for my Whirlpool. Cost about $25. Replaced all. Never did it before. Easy. Thanks.
My 23 years old Maytag dryer was pretty noisy at start.
One drum roller was stiff.
I removed it, clean it, lubricate and put it in place, facing back.
No more noise, no cost.
Hoping it will do for next 23 years.
If not, small job to order a new roller and install it, now that I know it take four tools to do this job.
Thank you.
Thank you. Just finished. Thanks to amazon and you. I just replaced belt, tension roller , and both rollers. My wife can go now go back to running the dryer at 2 am if see wants. Nice and quiet.
Super helpful. Step by step and special attention to things that can go wrong (like taking off a part before paying attention to how it is oriented) or be confusing (noting that the wheels can be put on either way with no difference).
GREAT INSTRUCTIONS !!! I am 60+ ordered new kit and saved $200!!!!!!
It's not that that simple to get the front panel back on at the bottom hooks. I notice the edit at 8 mins 27 secs. It takes multiple tries to get it in just right. I've had that happen to me every time I had to work on the dryer. All the repairs are easy, but the front panel.........frustrating.
Can’t thank you enough for this video. One of the best DYI instructional videos I’ve ever watched. I successfully repaired my dryer for 10 bucks! Because of this video my dryer is running like new and the wife is happy and even better she was thinking maybe hubby couldn’t handle this one 😃
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words!
That spring clip/nut in front of the roller bracket is brutal for me right now. I've used them before but this one must be a hair smaller than normal cuz I've used a few things in arms reach at the moment including a socket that fits perfectly around the outer ring of the spring nut. Yet even pushing extremely hard it still refuses to slide onto the post.
Yes! Me too!
Me too
@danielblocker3426 I filed mine down until it fit.. it was annoying but it worked..
Future reference use a 9mm socket and extension and tap on shaft with a hammer or dead-blow/mallet.
Great video! Took me less than an hour to repair my loud squealing dryer. Works like its brand new now. Couldn't be happier.
Just did this. Had helper hold the drum while i put belt on. Amazon sent incorrect tensioner so reused old one. New heating element and dryer is working better then new now. Thank you sir for a great job on the video was alot of help.
Me and my girlfriend moved into a new place recently, they had hookups but we had nothing to hook up to them lmao. Her boss had a dryer fixed by someone for $400 and the thing still sounded like death. He was so mad that he got a new washer and dryer set and just gave us this set. I found out what's wrong with it, got new rollers and a hex nut screw set for about $40 total, and so far the thing sounds brand new. Thanks for the easy to follow guide
Excellent communicator! To me he’s a gifted teacher and sounds more like a professor!
The rear felt, front felt and the two rollers are my next thing to do with this old dryer (1990). I used another of your videos to replace my belt and idler pulley. It worked perfectly, and the dryer became much more quiet - for about a half hour. Then the old noises came back. I can only assume it is the rollers, and at $21 if that is not the noise source it is all good because my 28 year old dryer will have a few more brand new parts. Thanks for sharing this series of videos!
What a great video! We have a 9-year-old Maytag Centennial that looks exactly like this one and it's been squeaking for a few days. We were worried we would have to buy a new one and knew we'd never find another workhorse like this one. Found this video, ordered the parts from Amazon, and fixed it in under 25 minutes. We've only ever done something like this one other time and that was to take the back off and change a fuse. So, we're pretty proud to have fixed our dryer ourselves. Thanks for sharing this video because without it--we'd be out $500.00 or more for a new dryer.
I have a 9 years old Whirlpool and not too long ago, I replaced a fuse in the back. Now I'm in the process of ordering these rollers, different brands but they look the same including the issues.
Thank you for your excellent video guide! I was able to easily follow your steps and install the rollers and belt myself. At one point, just needed another person to hold the drum so I could line it to the front panel and attach it to the sides. Saved us over $300 to have professional fix it!
FYI, we purchased the parts from your sites.
Glad it helped!
This was a huge help I have a old dryer that kept squeaking cause of those rollers. My dryer is really quiet now and works great.
Thank you so much, i got most of it done in 10 minutes, two screws to hold front cover took 30 minutes, to put back in. so quiet and smooth. local parts store wanted 19.98 plus tax each wheel. Through Wal-Mart less than 12 dollars both wheels, delivered to the house.
Great video saved over 150 bucks in service house call labor and parts. I only spent $19 on the kit to fix my Maytag.
Perfectly done. Changed my dryer rollers and belt with genuine Whirlpool parts. Runs brand new. Thank you👍🏻🇺🇸
You make this look effortless. I followed your directions to a T and want to thank you for the clarity in each step.
This video has helped me so mucb.
I've saved my dryer twice by watching this.
Thanks so much
Steve, a very heartfelt thank you for your video! To the point, no excessive extras, awesome job!!
I appreciate this so much. I’m not very mechanical so it took me a lot longer then you but I did it without my husbands help. I want to be more helpful and not make it where he is the only one that fixes everything all the time and I showed him I’m not as dumb as he thought I was.
I love that I can watch your videos and do my own repairs. I have replace a broken idler pulley and belt, put it all back together without any problem. When I plugged it in and started it, there was a clicking noise and the drum stopped turning, guess next step is to replace the drum rollers and hopefully it will running like new again. I don't know of anything else to do, so maybe before I order the rollers you could give me some suggestions to check for 1st.
I legit fixed my dryer through your video. You the best man!!
My man, you are proof not all hero’s wear capes.
Just replaced my rollers thanks to this video. 5 year old dryer back to brand new for $8.
Glad to hear the video helped, Aaron! Best of luck with your repair!
Thank you for making my wife so happy after I was able to the fix dryer and that horrible noise !!....
This right here just saved me a ton of money repairing a used dryer i got off craigslist. Three cheers my guy.
Thank you for posting this. We didn’t want a stranger in the house during the pandemic. Also my wife is now super impressed with me. Thanks again
Excellent video. It's so nice to have a quiet dryer again! Thanks!!!
Our pleasure!
This went EXACTLY as he instructed and to the letter. It would behoove you to clean out the lint screen ductwork thoroughly if it has never been done before. My dryer is 22 years old. The lint and items that came out of there was unbelievable. Turn the dryer upside down with the drum out naturally and shake it out. It will dislodge all the buildup. It will dry much better and get noticeably hotter than before.
Just replaced the drum rollers on my dryer watching this video gave me confidence to do it my self. Great video
This video was worth a million dollars to me. Thank you.
THANK YOU!!! I was able to fix my dryer thanks to you and safed myself money I did have trying to replace my dryer
Great instruction video. I just replaced my noisy drum rollers. Very easy to do. Saved money to hired someone else to come do it for me. The replacement parts on Amazon for around $20.49.
Thank you so much for this video. Our dryer started making a horrible noise and I bought the maintenance kit from amazon that includes wheels, tensioner, and belt. The triangle clips were a pain, but it all went together fine.
Yayyyy I'm so EXCITED!!!!!!!!! Because of you, I was able to fix my dryer and for free.. thank you so much h.
Do you hire out?
Awesome thanks for helping me fix annoying noise. Also you are give Bob Ross like calmness.
Thanks for the video. Followed you step by step. I removed old rollers the put everything back together in 45 minutes.
Thank you, replaced my rollers in 30 mins because of your video!!!
Shoot, i forgot to unplug the dryer. Thanks for a great tutorial!
It is absolutely NOT an easy job. Holding up the drum while reaching into a tight dark space to wrestle with a strong coil and loop a belt with little excess over a pulley is difficult. Sore shoulder to prove it. However, your good instruction made it easier. Thank you.
Best video I could find. Nice shots, you don't under or over explain anything. Great job, thanks.
Thank you for the instructional video and the parts order information. Able to fix the loud thumping noise and inadequate heat production by ordering the Whirlpool Maintenance Kit PS373087 and replacing the rear rollers, the pulley, and the belt that turns the drum. With the video info able to take dryer apart in about 20-25 minutes and replace the parts listed above in about 25-30 minutes.
Great video--my Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer had 4 rollers besides the tension roller which was bad. My kit had the belt, Tension roller/arm & 2 rollers. Lucky for me the 4 main rollers were good--addition 2 rollers attached to a front panel not shown behind front panel. But I used the belt & tension arm assy. Thanks again
Watching your videos is like good meditation. Love your clear, calm demeanor, Thanks so much!
Glad you like them!
I too was able to fix my dryer because of this video. It was well explained with no steps skipped. Thank you!!!
My machine got very noisy all-of-a-sudden so I think this will be very helpful. A cursory look shows the mechanicals are exactly like my 2015-16 vintage Whirlpool machine. Now, if I could get a kid or other small person who can bend better than me I'll be all-set. Thanks for this clip.
Excellent video ,great detailed instruction. I think even my 18 year old son could follow.Thank You.
I would like to say I was able to put in an entire repair kit, pulley, belt, and rollers with your video. You did a great job.
One suggestion, when you put in the new pulley, you had it blocked with your shoulder and arm. I had to rewind many times to understand how you had it set in there.
Otherwise, thanks for the help!!!!
Thanks just repaired my dryer with all your help brother
Two girls and a squeaky dryer fixed thanks to you!! Awesome easy to follow video!! Thank you thank you!!
I followed this video and guided me thru a successful repair. Highly recommended!
By far the most detailed oriented video on this. Even discussing the right side of the belt facing the drum. Thank you for being so detailed oriented.
Thank you!! I followed all the steps and I was able to fix my dryer... Thank you God bless
Thank you so much for this video, I have never opened a dryer before yet my repair went smoothly thanks to you.
What a great video, granted it took me 3hrs but couldn't have done it without your help. Thank you.
Steve, thank you my friend!
You made it so simple!
You are the best!
Thank you so much! With this tutorial I was able to purchase and replace my drum rollers and belt! Thank you!! You saved me $$$
Fantastic video! You explained everything easily step-by-step. Thanks!
WELL DONE IS ALL I CAN SAY. THAT HELPED TREMENDOUSLY. THANK YOU
I agree whole heartedly. Thank you so much.
Good details on how to put on the drum belt , front panel , and wire connector - a must read !
Thank you! Mine actually turned out to be a dead rat stuck inside the internal vent duct thing but still learned how to take apart my dryer (cleaned it out real good and checked and lubricated everything)
Just want to echo everyone else. Great video! I had the dryer up and running in about 45 minutes.
This video was great! Thanks for walking me through this repair!
This fixed my noisy dryer. You are a wonderful channel.
This saved my dryer. So well explained. Thank you
Edit: I’d strongly advise everyone take that metal connection off. I just sliced my freaking finger deep as I was applying force to take the wheel off.
Excellent video, I watched a few of these and I learn something new every time.
thanks for the video. a walk through made the job a lot easier
