I fell in love with these cars when I saw one at the dealers in 1998. We were there because Mum was also buying a Fiat, unfortunately it was a 5 door Punto! Such a good looking car mate, well done on what you’ve achieved. I prefer seeing cars like this to near-new £50k+ cars!
Always remember walking my dog one day a couple of years ago and hearing this incredible 5pot engine sound hammering towards me. As I turned around to check what it was I thought "that's defo a tuned Focus RS" but it was a black one of these. It screamed past and let off 3 or 4 insane pops & bangs on the over run, my dog shat herself but I couldn't help but grin it was such an amazing sound. 👌
I remember back in the day, giving the large in my 206 XSI 1.6 16v 😂 then this thing rolled up on me and absolutely roasted me at the lights 😩 I’m still pissed 17 years later. 🤨
I’ve had two, first at 19 and next at 21. Sold it to go to uni, and I now have a 330D. Not a patch on my first broom yellow 20vt, running around 320bhp. The sound these things make is gorgeous, five cylinders or pure eargasm and a timeless design, interior too!!
Ahhh the 90s....rave party's, cheap ciders, and hot hatches! Anybody got a uno turbo,R5 turbo or Lotus Carlton.....bring it would love to see them today!!
Maannnn you see, that’s what I’m talking about! Real cars bro! A platform for all enthusiasts! Mad blessings to you again and blessings to all! Neva be ashamed of what YOU can afford, doll it up and enjoy.. life is too precious to waist away in want! Sorry for long comment 🙏
I bought one of these in July 2004. Still have it :-) It now produces 420bhp and is currently being tidied up after a year off the road. I cannot wait!
Used to see one of these not far from my Mrs house back In the day when I had my r5 turbo which was running a stage 2 turbo technics turbo. Man I loved that car .....
Cool car, I had a Punto GT turbo a few years ago, baby brother to this, so much fun and such character, I’ve had big power cars but I miss the Punto the most, 170bhp in a tin can, heaven
@@Newtownian I had the Seb2 chip, on standard turbo with FMIC. S.E.B. - stands for stupid english bastard haha! I want mine back...the rust got it in the end though :-(
I had four Punto GT’s. There is something so addictive in them, is it the way it goes into the overboost, the integrale-like sound they make, I don’t know. I had a lot of pocket rocket cars, and some 300-400bhp cars after that, but I always missed Punto GT. So much character and fun, one of the most under estimated hot hatches of the 90’s.
I had this exact specification back in 2007 bought for £800! Changed the cambelt £500 job! Reliability was an issue but this was one of the best cars I ever owned. Like the guy said 3rd gear is epic! Great video Ricky 👌
With a forged bottom end and big turbo these scream. With that heavy 5 pot and turbo over the front wheels they put the power down brilliantly. The induction noise sounds like 1000 yellow pages being ripped in half.
I had one of these back in the day. Super spool turbo and 315bhp. Great car and loads of fun to drive. The sound you get from the 5 cylinders with an open air filter was amazing. Wish I still had it after watching this!
Really ahead of its time and properly fast for that era. The performance numbers are still quite impressive even by todays standards.Nice one Ricky. Good to see you giving something out of the ordinary a shot.
Absolutely lovely car. It's brilliant to see a car which is attainable to the masses being reviewed. Brilliant job Ricky. And thank you Alex for letting llf showcase your car. Respect.
vp5 yeah mate it was a shame to be honest. They’ve got some powerful engines that can create huge amounts of power with not much tuning. Never let me down an I’ve owned it for 9years.
vp5 that’s a big shame. So do you no longer have it? I remember the old early calibras 1989-1994 had the same issue until they rebuilt the wheel arches an made it harder to rott. Like this one is 21 years old it’s done 72,000 miles and has not got a spot of rust underneath or on the body work. However there’s a slight little bubble on the drivers side door sill. But other than that spot on!
My cousin bought one of these and I wondered why? But, after this video I get it now! What a nice down to earth guy too! Really liked his modesty and attitude too! Nice one. 👍
Love this video Ricky, luvin the re-call of stories from your dad's earlier car memories etc; keep it real like this, today's and yesterdays memories we can all relate too! Your channel just keeps on giving, keeps on improving :) JJ x
But designed only its interior. Originally Fiat hired pininfarina for the whole design but that design wasn’t accepted and it was purchased by Peugeot later and that is the car we know as Peugeot pininfarina Coupe. The Fiat Coupe chassis was designed then in Centro Stile Fiat (Fiat’s own designcentre) by Chris Bangle, but the interior design was done by Pininfarina.
This car looks wise is probably not to everyone's taste but nobody can deny it sounds lovely and as long as the owner enjoys it that's all that matters !
Man like Ricky killing it again with the variety of cars on LLF. I used to work on these cars when i was an apprentice, great fun and that 5cyl sound never gets boring 👍
Love these cars so much! In a league of their own in terms of styling. Still looks very good today. This video seems to just focus on the power rather than what the coupe is as a GT car. Shame neither of them didn't go into detail about how these cars were hand built by pininfarina who also designed the interior, exterior designed by chris bangle. Three big names coming together to design one car. So, so, so special. And no engine bay shot? The engine bay on these are amazing! The whole bonnet lifts up showing every corner. Damn I miss mine!
Excellent video as usual 😀. I owned one if these for over 7 years and covered over 30,000 trouble free miles and absolutely loved the car. A few reasons why these cars are so good: They were hand built in the Pininfarina factory in Italy, the same place they built the Ferrari Dino. The 2 litre 20 valve engine can be tuned to over 500bhp, see FC Performance based in Bristol or the FCCUK fiat coupe forum for more details. These cars are remarkable and currently fantastic value for money and sound as good as a focus RS or Audi RS3. Buy one quick while stocks last. Cheers, Jon.
Pinninfarina only designed the interior of the Coupe FIAT ….the exterior was designed by Chris Bangle …...who later went to work for BMW and designed the E60 5 series
Never drove one of these but for many years had its cousin, the Alfa GTV with the V6 Busso engine. Still my favourite car to this day, made me smile every second. If it had been RWD it would have been perfect.
Ahha he said the magic 3rd gear! A modded coop can embarrass anything when 3rd gear is engaged. I've been side by side aston's, 911's, Ferrari's, r8's, lambo's in 3rd and had time to look across and share thumbs and smiles... It has a street cred that is unmatched for the £.
Remember keeping one of these at bay in my old RS 'Hybrid' Turbo back in the day. Couldn't get away but happy it couldn't get passed! lol Miss them 'care free' days...
Not very keen on black rims in general but in this case it makes sense . Nice clean look overall ! 300 hp sounds great , since it came with about 220 hp from factory and was already swift back then . Edit : The exterior is designed by Chris Bangle , the interior comes from Pininfarina ( Peugeot did use a Pininfarina exterior offer , namely the 406 coupe)
I owned many cars in my life but none come close to the love and fun I had with my Coupe Turbo Plus. Car magazine said about the Coupe “once in a decade a car manufacturer goes mad and offer so much for so less. “ Another comment I remember once reading in a magazine “The Coupe is a car that you may put each and every part of her in car museum starting from the key”
I remember coming up against 1 of these in my 306 GTI-6. Until then I thought I was fast, it destroyed me 😂. Great vid, good to see old school cars being reviewed.

I’ve had my yellow fiat coupe 20v turbo for over 13 years now.. bought it when I was 19 with only 11000km and had a blast! Did some tuning and had 320hp when I put it in the dyno. And also, I actually weighed my car and it was 1310kg not 1400kg like they say on the video :) cheers from 🇸🇪👊🏻
Been wanting a vid on one of these for agess!! my dad has one but his is NA not turbo'd, but still cant beat the sound! This cars the reason why I find the RS3 sound so satisfying
I was never a fan of the way it looked when they first came out but now they are such a rare sight you have to say the looks have aged pretty well, it says something for the car when you can push 300Bhp on stock suspension and not fish tale off the road, great car, big ol' thumbs up

Sean Byrne I'm obsessed with Audi 5pot Turbo's ❤
London is Red easy to see and ( hear ) why
vp5 neither of them cars sound better then a Audi Quarto S1
vp5 I said not many lol , I've heard the F50 GT before and again just and it screams ferociously.
vp5 I'll be sure to watch when I have time. The S1 quattro from the 80's is a different beast though
Best thing I've ever driven. And it gives you such a special and unique feeling when inside the cabin. Then theres the turbo spool and turbo chatter.
I love these 20v Fiat Turbos...!!! 😁👍
