After meeting Rob Dahm at SevenStock this year he is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. He talked to me and my cousin for a good long time answering all of our annoying questions with enthusiasm. I’d just like to say that he is the GOAT of the car world and I hope he continues for many years to come 🙏🏼.
I know there's no replacement for actually doing it, but until i have the money, I hope watching videos like yours will give me the courage to start building my own rotaries when i can afford the equipment and space. Robb you should get a Coordinate measuring machine. being able to check, down to the single micron, your manufactured parts but also the wear and inconstancies of stock parts you want to reuse would be great.
I rebuilt my first engine when i was 8... let me start from the beginning, i was 6 years old, my dad bought a wrecked 1986 Toyota Hilux out of Mexico that was used as a prerunner before it got ran into a tree, got it for $200. one day he called me outside to help him, and i did, older brother wanted nothing to do with it, and i started taking things apart, fender, grill, bumper, if i could turn the bolt/nut, i took it off. we only worked on in on the weekends so it took a while, eventually we got the frame straightened and new front panels on, and all that was left was to rebuild that 22R. by that time i was 8 and had learned a ton already, but my dad had me rebuild the carb while he sat next to me and guided me, then once that was back together he had me do the same thing to the rest of the engine. I rebuilt my first engine when i was 8. my dad was by my side the whole time and talked me through how to do it all, helped me torque down bolts, showed me how to put new rings on pistons, and how to do the valve guides and all that in the head. got it back together, hooked up fuel and a battery and the old girl started right up. im the only child out of 4 that actually did things with my dad, cars, guns, any time a "take your child to work day came up i always went (he was a RN and a wound care specialist), off roading, camping, all that. he's taught me so much, and tried to teach my siblings, and they just don't care. knowing he has a tumor in his brainstem that my other siblings don't know about yet hurts, i know im going to lose him soon, and when he's gone its just going to be me that can do the repairs around the house, fix moms/ brothers cars, take care of the animals, and make sure that everything goes smoothly. im 23 and im not ready for this, but that's just life and i got the short end of the stick

I found a 2 rotor a few weeks ago in a plastic tote inside a utility closet in a bathroom at my work. Thank God I work at a racetrack or this would have surprised me.

Dude my 1st car was an 1988 Pontiac Sunbird SE station wagon. Had flip up headlights and alloy wheels. Totally had a glasspack on it. I use to ramp the local rail road tracks with it. Had all 4 wheels off once. Fun times. I've never seen another one.
Set up some kind of remote circuit to start it the first time. Cut out the circuit board from a little rc car and have it connected to a servo to press the button that turns on the starter motor maybe. Find a way to be behind a wall when the engine starts 😂
This honestly is exactly my goal in life is to have a shop big enough to just work on a few things and a yard big enough to store projects so i can invite friends over to work on cars or wte we come up with for fun and eventually be able to do it not only for work full time but for a hobby

I got my k swap from them. Everything was included k20a, 6spd, harness and ecu. Was A LOT cheaper when I got it vs what they charge now.
