I apologize if my honest reaction to a traumatic encounter triggers any strong feelings. The purpose of this video is not to bash Wales, but to highlight the highs and lows of travel-something that can happen ANYWHERE. In fact, 80% of the video showcases the charm and beauty of Wales! I've never been followed by an aggressive person before, so it was hella horrifying for me. I was ranting & spiraling because I was going through the process of shock > anger > eventually acceptance. Unfortunately, the incident tainted my experience, and as a result, I didn’t connect with Wales as much as I have with other places in the UK. That said, I want to be clear: I'm not letting one person define the entire population. I’m genuinely grateful for all the kind people I met along the way! If you don’t think being followed by someone who aggressively yelled at you and looked off is scary, you’re a probably a man 🤷🏻♀️
I don't believe you need to apologise. Your reaction was to be expected considering the circumstances. I feel embarrassed for my country that we were not able to provide you with the respect and courtesy that you deserved. Everyone is am ambassador for their country whether that be at home or abroad and this individual who is a sad case did not get the memo.
I’m so sad to see this happened to you. I’m embarrassed you had to feel this way in a county I call home. Conwy is home for me. I’m so glad you had a better time here. ❤
Thank you for the kind words 🥹 I loved Conwy so much! Best castle and town walls 💜 It was so therapeutic to be there, it helped me accept what happened and moved on.
Racism can occur anywhere in the world! I remember going to North Wales in the late 1970's I was a kid but even so old ladies in the centre of the village we were staying in shouted "English pigs" at me and my family! That said, I would say on the whole Wales is less racist than most places in the UK and in turn the UK is less racist than most places in Europe in my experience!
It wasn’t even racism. You Millenials need to get some backbone! It’s just as likely someone was trying to get her attention! It’s pathetic and typical of this generation to constantly play victim. Grow up.
I agree that Wales is the least racist country in UK & the neighborhoods. But ,this young lady was talking about some aggressive man interested in her mistaken her as Japanese. He was a stalkerish man who followed her for a long time ! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
@@spark_6710 It's a pity it happened. But to imply that a whole country is horrible based on one bad experience and a few small inconveniences is not exactly reasonable. I had a couple of pretty bad experiences in Poland and while Krakow was aesthetically very nice, there wasn't a huge amount to do other than eat, sightsee and shop. But, I'm not going to say that means the whole country is exactly like that. If I go back, which I intend to at some point, I'll go and see Warsaw or Gdansk and travel in the countryside a bit well before I go around implying Poland is a good or bad place to go, and certainly not going to post it on RUclips.
@kingstannisbaratheon7974 I totally agree with you !! Poland has been in my bucket list for decades now ! I'm super jealous of you ~!! Hoping you will have a blast there whenever you'll go there for the 2nd time !! Thank you so much for your reply !! Wishing you a happy holiday season ! 💜🥁🐲🎤🎶🎄🎉💞
A really well made video! I really like your editing style. So sorry about the experience you had in Cardiff. I’m from Neath, a short way outside Swansea, and Conwy is my favourite place in Wales by far. Hope you can focus on the good times you had here, and I’d be happy to be a local tour guide if you ever decide to come back - you should!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that 💜 Conwy was my favorite as well, I miss hiking the town walls. Thanks for the kind offer 🥹 I will keep you in mind if I ever get the chance to visit Wales again!
Oh no you poor thing! I am so sorry, yes it isn't a place to go without having someone else to show you the beautiful areas and avoid others. Sending big hugs 🫂
Thank you dear~ hugs 🥹 Yeah, it’s definitely a place where having a car and local guide make a big difference. But I still find Wales beautiful, especially Conwy~
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience in Cardiff. Our city has a high level of idiots who feel they can behave in any way they want to when they are drunk. I'm ashamed that you were treated they way you were. We are a multi-cultural city and you are more welcome here than these racist locals. Racism can occur anywhere but the fact it happened to you in Wales would be extremely embarrassing to the vast majority of people here. From myself and all my friends and family I want to say sorry and to send you loads of genuine welsh love. I feel honoured that you took the time to visit our country and our cities. Although I'm sure you have been put off visiting ever again, I want you to know that I love your videos and really enjoyed seeing you visiting the sites in Wales.
Thank you so much for the kind words and love! It means a lot to me 🥹💜🙏 I still have a lot of lovely memories in Wales, especially in Conwy! Except that one person everyone else I’ve met in Wales was very kind and helpful!
I don't believe this was a racist incident, it was more to do with a stalkerish man who was interested in Japanese woman specifically as he said " konnichiwa" that's hello in Japanese. I am Japanese. I got too many scary situations in my life ,but never had that in Wales which I've visited twice & easily became my No.1 favourite country as well as Italy & Argentina !! My late soulmate my very 1st b.f.was Welsh ,too. Wales is very unique & surrounded by abundance of nature & down to earth people !! 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
Outside Cardiff Wales is picturesque and life slows down . If you are looking for lots of activity Cardiff etc is better for you. During term time student night clubs are vibrant in Swansea and Cardiff and you don't need to be a student. You were well fed and welcome but you found things boring due to different expectations . Hiking Camping Kayaking etc is very popular and Castle visits too . Depends what you want from your holiday . Most tourists come to Wales to do some peaceful sight seeing ;history and sports.
I loved Swansea, I think it was the 70s vibe! I understand how hard it is travelling on your own sometimes though. I was travelling on my own and went on a day trip to Norwich from London and I had some people threaten me and yell horrible things to me. I thought they were going to attack me. I went into a shop and told them what happened and the lady hugged me. It made such a difference.
Andrea! I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. Travelling is a wonderful experience but sometimes you face challenges and it can be discouraging, let alone frightening. I hope you can continue travelling to other places and that those experiences make up for the difficult times here. You deserve the best. Thank you for being transparent and sharing this part of your life
Aww thank you so much for the kind words~ 🥹🥹🥹Yeah… I was super discouraged and frightened in the moment, and felt so alone…But that incident really upped my mental game 💪 I will continue to travel and see as much of the world as I can! 💜
I'm welsh and we r not ignorant but big advice girl on her own walking with air pods is not wise things like u experienced can happen anywhere, and company is always better choice when going away
Company isn't always a better choice. I've travelled many places alone, and had a much better time than if I'd had company. You're can get to explore for yourself and go where you want to go, rather than trying to please everyone you're with.
I agree w you !! And I agree w another person replied to you previously .Traveling alone is one of the coolest things you can do & less stressful experiences in life ,really ! But,listening to ear pods or headphones while walking isn't a wise choice anywhere even in your own city or country ! And that incident shouldn't be enough for someone to complain about a great country like Wales ,neither sole reason to decide not to revist or even just dislike Wales !!! I love Wales the best as well as Italy & Argentina ,which are all my No.1 favourite countries in the world !!! I am a Japanese woman who has been living in the States for almost 4 decades saying this !! Off course in a sense of convenience & high hygiene, high tech ,etc ,we are better here ,but Wales beats almost anywhere ,any other countries by it's own abundance of nature ( wilde/ untamed )& long unique history & language & really down to earth people & there's something special about Welsh women ,so kind ,yet very emotionally/ physically strong !! Wales is truly a GEM 💎 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
@@spark_6710 Wow, well I'm so happy that you had a positive experience here and love my country. It is truly unique place. (I've not been to Argentina, but I do adore South American cultures and music, so maybe one day... and of course there is an old, Welsh speaking colony in Patagonia...;) ) Thank you.xx
Cragraven8949 For some reason,I can't click your profile name ,happens often lately .I had to type your profile name . You're so welcome ! I haven't been to Argentina myself, yet either ,but I'm definitely going to!!! In my bucket list for a long time now !! Yes,CHUBUT VALLEY !! You can have a Welsh afternoon tea there !! I've read that late Princess Diana did there !!I'm planning to visit Gaiman.Patagonia is magnificent !! To me ,there are some similarities between Wales & Italy & Argentina, scenery wise & abundance of nature, being very welcoming countries to foreigners ,so on ! I was stunned by gorgeous Welsh women while visiting your country the last time ( summer 2022 )in Saundersfoot & on a train .Even some school kids .( boys& girls )I had to ask if they were all Welsh !! Lol. They said yes ! There's something special about their looks !! As well as very sweet & pure innocence that I hardly see in anyone these days anymore !! They were really ,really good-looking !! And women who were working at Old Chmeist ( pub ) in Saundersfoot. I was so shocked how gorgeous they were !! And on top that ,none of 'em had an attitude of " Yea,I know I'm gorgeous!" that I see in people here in L.A. or everywhere !! Some of 'em,I think they didn't even know how beautiful they were !! And Welsh female employees on trains who helped me so kindly with my super heavy luggage !! They were incredibly sweet & strong !!One of 'em even followed me all the way inside to help me to put my luggage on the shelf in the train !! I didn't even ask or know she was following me !! And Simon ,a train operator ( driver ) who kindly told me to hop back on the train in Saundersfoot after 9pm & called a taxi ahead of time for me & told me to get off at Tenby station instead ! I did a lot of my research before visiting Wales for a couple of years in advance ,but covid pandemic & my mom's health issues, I almost did not make my trip to Wales & I did at last minute,so got me totally forget about the station ! ( no man ,no taxi )!! Lol It was pitch dark 😆 It was super scary !! And it was a huge hit whenever I told that story to the locals & other Welsh holidaymakers there in Saundersfoot !! They laughed their heads off !! Lol And in Newport or Cardiff ,whenever I got lost & asked for a direction, 9 out of 10 Welsh people took me all the way to the spot ,my destinations !!! Unbelievable !! They all said " I'll take you ,I ( we were )was going that direction anyway !" Then after reaching my destinations, I thanked 'em & watched 'em all going back to where I met 'em !!! LOLLOLLOL Unbelievably kind !! Young or old, they all did that for me !! I fell in love with Wales & Welsh people !! My late soulmate was a Welsh man & who was the sweetest man I've ever known !! My very 1st b.f.( platonic )& my childhood friend ,a true bestfriend I've ever had !! I really wish if I could vist Wales every year !! Thank you so much for your reply !! Have a FABULOUS day and evening !!Sorry for my novel. 💜
I guess every experience is for us to learn and improve our next travel. Please Don’t get too upset. I have had scary experience with drunkards too when travelling solo. We must not appear that we are scared and try to seek help from people if need be. There will be kind and helpful souls to help. Everywhere has idiots, we just need to be very vigilant and careful especially when we are travelling alone. My husband is Welsh btw, and he’s a kind man. Haha
I have a hardcore negativity bias so I know how you felt. I’m glad you were able to have some good experiences though. The food and castles looked amazing!
Thank you 🥹💜 Negativity bias got me so discouraged and emotional. Chocolate and junk food helped a lot though 😂 And yes I really loved all the food and castles!
I carried a heavy luggage because this was a 2-month long UK trip 😅 Anyway, I loved all the castles, especially Conwy Castle 💜 But that was enough of Wales for me 😅 Stay tuned for my journey in Liverpool next! My UK trip happened in 2023. I have other priorities right now, but I am trying my best to at least get all my UK travel content out before the end of 2024 🫣
I’m so sorry this happened to you, unfortunately the UK in general these awful people have had a stronger voice in the last years, and it’s gotten worse before it (hopefully) gets better. I’m from Wales, and I can tell you the best parts of Wales are in the countryside. The small towns and villages, the cities are easily skipped as the interesting and beautiful areas are located often in remote locations! We have a very bad rail network, as you noticed, so the best way to travel my country is by car. You seem to have had a small taste of this in Conwy! I know you said you never want to go back, but if you ever decide to give Wales another go, I’d be more than happy to give you some recommendations!
Thank you so much~ 🥹💜 If I ever return to Wales one day I will definitely message you! Yes I did get a taste of that Conwy! I really loved Conwy, especially the castle and town walls! I initially wanted to see other more scenic towns, but they were just so difficult to get to by public transport 🥲 So I ended up choosing cities/towns that I can reach easily by trains.
@@MisusYaya unfortunately the public transport has been terrible for years (there’s a long history behind that), so if you ever do come back I recommend renting a car or I’m sure a lot of us from Wales would be happy be local guides and help you see the beautiful parts of our country!
I've been to Wales twice & planning my 3rd visit with my mom in a wheelchair!! Lol. I agree with you & disagree ...that I had lots of fun time in Cardiff & Newport. As well as Saundersfoot & Tenby & N.Wales ( very limited ,brief visit in '83 ).!!! I am a big city gal all of my life as originally from Tokyo & I've been living in L.A. ( Los Angeles )for more almost 3 decades total ! And I love cities !! Lol I've never had a scary incident in Cardiff or anywhere in Wales while visiting ! Although I met some Welsh in Cardiff came on to me in a creepy way !! Lol I have experienced so many scary situations in my life, but what happened to this young lady isn't enough for me to say what she said about Wales & not a strong reason for someone to dislike a country & decides not to revisit it !! Lol. I do understand it was a very scary incident for her ,though ! Lol. 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
YES !!! One of the most gorgeous countries in the world if not the most beautiful!! My No.1 fave in the world as well as Italy & Argentina ! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
Thank you 🙏 Looking back now I’m glad least it happened on the last night, if it happened on the first night I’d be scared to explore Cardiff at all 😅 I still think it’s a cool vibrant city!
So sorry you had a bad experience in Cardiff where I was born and still live. Cardiff is very multicultural from the time we had the docks, lots settled here from all over the World, its a shame you didn't make it down to the Bay, it's where the ships use to come in with cargo, there is a lot of information on how it was then to now. I'm mixed race and my dad would take me to the docks to meet up with his Caribbean friends when their ship came in, and I'd have Mango which in the early 70's weren't common, also West Wales is absolute stunning my favourite being St Davids with an impressive Cathedral.
St David's is one of the most pleasant places I've ever been. As a matter of fact, almost anywhere in north Pembrokeshire is beautiful, especially in the summer and has the benefit of not being as crowded as places like Tenby.
Wales is the land of myths , legends, magic and dragons and am so proud to be welsh. The welsh are generally friendly but like all citys there are oddbods. We are not a rich country , the trains arent great but you missed it because you weren't listening you need to be more aware of yourself. If you need a lift and a/c book those types of generic hotels. Tourism and hospitality are some of our biggest businesses and we have fabulous one off places to stay in stunning buildings. It was sad to see you didn't try any local welsh food. I found you negative and maybe you need to think that is why you are atracting things you don't like?
I completely agree with you. The myths surrounding the castles are fascinating and I find Conwy reallt special. I mentioned missing my train the next morning to highlight how the scary encounter affected my awareness. Processing a traumatic experience like being followed takes time; I went through shock, anger, and eventually acceptance. If that didn’t happen, I’d have been more cheerful throughout 😅Focusing on the negative made everything seem unpleasant, but I ultimately realized that the positive experiences I had far outweighed the bad ones.
I just searched for vegan-friendly restaurants within walking distance. No luck finding places nearby that served plant based version of local Welsh dishes 🥲
There are some caters for vegans where serving local trafitional foods ,not easy ,though ! But,if you'd like to try vegan Welshcakes ,it's very easy !! You can try Rogue Welshcakes in Newport Wales or Fabulous welshcakes in Cardiff ( Rogue Welshcakes is much better & the best ,though ! )& vegan Welsh afternoon tea at Future Inn hotel in Cardiff !! The very famouse Mam Gu Welshcakes in Saundersfoot.Cardiff ( indoor )market ,Bakestone has vegan Welshcakes, too ! Almost everywhere serves vegan version of British breakfasts ! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
@julesjules: wow, blame the victim why don't you? What about people like me? I'm older, disabled, being wear earbuds, have a decent sense of where I'm going. I've been approached by creeps in Cardiff and newport. These guys need sorting out, end of.
Yeah, Cardiff has a reputation for its drunk idiots. You can tell that really affected you, bless you. Glad Conwy castle kinda made up for it though, I live 3 mins away by car from the castle. The area definitely lifts my spirits. ❤ Honestly, don’t let it get you down about coming back. I promise you, most of us are decent people and are more likely to act as a tour guide than anything else, because we love our country and want you to love it too. So I apologise for my countrymen that mistreated you, nobody should have to experience that but unfortunately it happens no matter where you go.
I agree totally ! Welsh people took me all the way to my destinations every single time I got lost in Newport & Cardiff ,10 out of 10 did it !! Who does that in this day & age !! Maybe only Welsh & we,Japanese ! Lol. I live in Los Angeles, though ! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
I live in Mumbles , Swansea, yes Swansea is boring however there are lots of beautiful places surrounding it , like the Gower and Brecon Beacons . I’m sorry you had a bad experience in Cardiff however this could happen in any city in the world. I do agree the public transport is pretty bad though . I just felt that you had an unfair ‘dig ‘ at Wales because you weren’t feeling great. I’ve lived in many parts of the world and personally think Wales has some of the best outdoor areas of outstanding beauty in the world . Anyway these are my thoughts .
I think you should come back, but go to the more rural side of Wales. I think you'll have a better experience. The city's are just that, city's. They have the same thing. Go Pembrokeshire, brecon beacons! I promise you will have a much better experience!!
I am a big city gal all of my life ,I am a Japanese woman who's originally from Tokyo. Who has been living in the States for more than a half of my life & call Los Angeles is my home !! And I tell you Wales is my No.1 favourite country besides Italy and Argentina !! I've visited Wales twice, planning my 3rd visit there !! I have never experienced scary situations there, except for weird aggressive behaviors by some Welsh men there which I found very creepy & unnatural, yet those aren't enough or significant reason for me to decide not to visit my favourite Wales !! She visited Wales with a wrong intention/ expectation,I say ! Lol 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
Well thanks for the totally negative report on my hometown many other vlogers have enjoyed themselves in Swansea bad things can happen everywhere the fact you won’t come back to wales will not cause me to lose any sleep goodbye
Hey,girl ! Get a grip & be stronger !! That man incident was enough for you to quit visiting a beautiful country like Wales !!?? Lol. C'mon !! That's not even scary enough !! Men are men ,weirdos are wired, weirdos are everywhere !! I thought you got attacked ,or something !! I've been in real scary situations countless times . That's nothing strong enough to dislike or avoid a country !! 1stly,stop listening to music wearing headphones while you're walking around in foreign countires & pay more attention to your surroundings !! Wales is my No.1 favourite country besides Italy & Argentina !! Welsh are very, very friendly people & kind ,they're one of the friendliest people & Wales is one of the friendliest countries in the world infact !! I've been there twice & planning my 3rd visit !! With mom in a wheelchair. Wales is abundant with nature & unique traditions & history ! And the most affordable country in U.K.& vs Ireland, too !! The most gorgeous amongst 'em all !! If you're looking for an exciting nightlife & high fashion ,then Wales isn't it !! But,if you're a nature lover & willing to mingle with down to earth locals & not spending an arm/ leg to get the most of British experience, then WALES IS IT & EVERYTHING !!! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
Hi, as a Welsh person I'm sorry you had a bad experience here. It makes me so sad that you encountered racism - Wales is usually known for being friendly. That said, Cardiff at night - there do tend to be a lot of drunken assholes. It is a shame you didn't get to Cardiff bay, because that might have helped lift your spirits, but I completely understand why you didn't. I'm glad you enjoyed the food, and you did like some of the places you visited. (I tend to agree with you about Swansea, lol). The beauty of Wales is outside its cities, our national parks, mountains, castles and monuments and our beaches. I'm just glad you stayed safe, and if you do ever visit again hopefully you'll have a better experience.
Thank you so much for the kind words 🥹💜 Yes I find Conwy super special! Besides that aggressive person, everyone else I've encountered in Wales was kind and helpful!
Ditch the airpods if your alone in a strange place. What does that word mean? The one that the man shouted at you? I think you stayed at the premier inn at the end of st marys street? Thats a rough part of town. And walking to the bay down bute street is definitely not safe. Bad things happen in loudon square. Thats the drug selling part. Maybe that bloke gave you a good warning to return to your hotel because it would have gotten much worse. I live in Cardiff and id never walk around that area esp at dusk or dark. Id be mugged in 5 minutes
Sounds like you had a bit of bad luck. There are a lot of people with issues in Cardiff center, like a lot of citys. Just getting the bus in the center there a chance that there might be a dubious person on it. But not always. Its just a busy City with good and bad people, homeless and addicted people with their own troubled backgrounds, fine and friendly people, professionals and so on. Mostly fine people. I live in a nearby town next to Cardiff and sometimes there are people in the city centre I wouldn't normally see in my town and would prefer to avoid. I apologise for the obnoxious treatment you got. But it can happen anywhere. I hope you don't get that again and I hope you don't hate Wales or Cardiff because of one or 2 bad experiences. And it's very brave for anyone to travel like this to new countries on their own. It was scary, but always have your gard up in a strange place, especially citys around the world. Maybe have air pod in one ear so you hear the announcement. British trains arnt always the best. Oh the cathedral pronunciation is the 2nd one like 'Th-lan-daff'. Im sure you can get your Welsh souvenirs on line from the same shops. Enjoy your adventure and good luck🏴
Thank you for the kind words and telling me the correct pronunciation for the cathedral! I do not hate Wales/Cardiff at all. In fact, if I didn't have that scary experience, I would have loved Cardiff! Even though it tainted my experience, I'm not letting that one person ruined my journey. It was definitely a big life lesson. Everyone else I've met along the way was so kind and helpful 💜
Calling people's hometown boring on several occasions is quite insensitive, especially when you hardly scratched the surface of what there is to offer. Please be nicer next time 🙏
Unfortunately, I say this as a Welsh woman, the level of racism in Welsh cities has worsened. I have been approached by men, and I'm a great grandma! I wonder if it's due to the rise in homelessness? Or maybe, drugs? There are a lot of guys out there that see certain women as weak and vulnerable, and frankly, it's not good enough. Wales should be setting the example, not making excuses.
A scary moment, but not "racist" this word is overused and abused, we all have "scary' moments on the streets, don't confuse idiotic and scary behaviour with racism. This is my opinion.
I respect your opinion and I agree the word is overused. I'm not confusing the word. If he had greeted me in a friendly tone it wouldn't have made me uncomfortable at all. But he was spitting the words in my face in a very aggressive tone and decided to follow me...😰
@@MisusYaya he’s “racist” in your opinion This is not something that you should be broadcasting to a worldwide audience. It would be more correct and understandable if you’d just said you were verbally abused and felt scared and threatened on the street. Just because you are foreign does not give you the excuse/authority to make such a strong statement. There are many other RUclipsrs travelling around and they use the same language whenever they happen to get upset by someone who is not from the same country, same race, same ethnic background, whatever. People do not have to like someone and people can be rude, aggressive, abusive, or whatever. But to make a statement like this is in my opinion not correct.
"surviving". Just a little bit dramatic dont you think? I think you need to shift that victim mentality and actually plan your trips better. Maybe then you'll have a more positive experience
I’ve actually considered some of those places, but they seem to require a car. I didn’t feel comfortable driving alone in a foreign place. So I ended up choosing spots that are easy to reach by train in the least amount of time and can be explored on foot or by bus. 🥹
@MisusYaya if you come back to wales, I'd recommend getting a car and going to those places. I know driving in a different country is daunting, but it's absolutely worth it.
I live in Wales, I moved here 38 years ago. Wales is truly lovely, however I too have experienced racism from some Welsh people towards me as an Englishman. I know that racism is everywhere and it is only the few rather than the many. I do not allow people who are racist to get to me. Visit Wales it is a lovely country.
So sorry to hear about your very negative experience in Cardiff - there are racist dickheads everywhere! As others have suggested, Swansea and Cardiff aren't really representative of Wales and it is the smaller towns that give a better indication of the country. You missed a lot of the best bits! Conwy is lovely, if a bit touristy, and it's also worthwhile visiting Eryri (Snowdonia) and, if you have the energy, walking up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) or taking the train , if you have deep pockets. Instead of kicking your heels in Conwy the second day, you could have taken a bus to Caernarfon where there is a castle even more spectacular than Conwy. If you'd had more time there are also the narrow gauge steam railways , the Welsh Highland Railway and the Ffestiniog Railway that connect Caernarfon and the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, though there isn't a lot to see in that town unless you happen to like slate. (I love the place, but I'm regarded as a little weird - the people are lovely). A/C on public transport in Wales is a rarity, indeed, A/C in buildings is a rarity in the UK, especially A/C that actually works! Transport for Wales is art present in the middle of a massive upgrade of the nation's railway, with brand new trains due to come in to replace the many old ones still running. Hopefully when the upgrade is complete travellers will have a much better experience.
Some guy ''shouts'' hello at you in Japanese and it's racist? Don't get me wrong, if he actually was following you that wouldn't be right but nothing you have told us indicates that there was any racist element in your encounter or that he used a racist slur against you. Perhaps your assumption that the man's interest in you was racist is in itself racist. You haven't actually said he was white European or a person of colour but since you used the term racist we can assume he wasn't of East Asian appearance. If he had been, what pejorative term would you have then used to label his odd behaviour?
I'm so disappointed by your unreasonably negative video. Swansea boring as fuck, you say coming to Wales has been down hill all the way and you can't wait to get out of Wales? You've eaten wonderful vegan food wherever you've gone, visited some of the best Castles in Europe with glorious countryside thrown in for good measure. One bad experience shouldn't colour your total experience, there are a few bad people wherever we travel in the World. To be honest i'm not really sure what you'r expecting from foreign travel.
That’s literally the whole point of this video though 😅 The ‘negative’ part was only about 5 minutes in this 30-minute video. The rest of the time I was showing off the charm and beauty of Wales. I don’t think it’s “unreasonable” to feel down in the heat of the moment after a traumatic encounter. I’m no saint, I get cranky, but you’re right, that doesn’t take away from all the good things I experienced. Sometimes, travel is a mix of highs and lows, and I wanted to share both honestly. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment~
Omg he was following you? I thought he said something in an aggressive tone which you believed to be racist! What did the police say when you told them a man said good day to you in Japanese in an aggressive manner who was following you? The police in the uk will not tolerate racism or abuse which makes you feel xenophobic. I’m sure you had it on film so there is good reason to report it if you haven’t already! I’d be interested to know how you get on. Good luck with your travels I hope you find what you’re looking for. Hywl! Iechyd da!🏴🇬🇧
Welsh people are very friendly and will engage with strangers. Completely opposite to London etc Someone saying konichiwa is not racist . Granted they should maybe have just said Hi and not followed you. However as a solo traveller you need to be aware of your surroundings too. Walking at night with airpods through an area with nightlife you need to be smarter . Keep safe and enjoy the UK.
Yup, it was my fault for missing the train. I was just sharing how the incident at night affected my mindset and focus the next morning. As for Swansea, I did research things to do and shared my experience as someone relying on public transport. I’m sure people traveling by car have a different experience. Though someone from Swansea in the comments did mention it’s boring too 🤷🏻♀️
I’m so sorry. I live in Cardiff and trust me most people are fine. It’s very unusual for people to do what happened to you. With regards to transport, we are a third world country. Sorry.
I trust you, everyone else I've encountered was kind and helpful 💜 I don't blame the transport, I was in the heat of the moment, spiraling in negative thoughts so I had to rant to process my emotions. If I didn't have that scary encounter I wouldn't be complaining about the train and staircases. I'm from third world country too~
The Welsh hate their own, never mind anyone else. As far as tourism goes it's on the decline. I've brought back a French and a Brazilian girl here and they both said it was a shit hole.
I can't speak for other cities in Wales but Swansea has never been a truly tourist destination. It has a very historic past and was an industrial city. You are entitled to your opinion but maybe a little research in advance may have educated you a bit more. The area around Swansea has a unique archaeological history dating back to the Palaeolithic period. Finds such as Long Hole Cave on the Gower Peninsula have been interpreted as those of the first modern humans in Britain, and the same area is also home to the oldest ceremonial burial in Western Europe, discovered at Paviland in 1823 and dated to 33,000 BC. The area also has many Bronze Age and Iron Age sites, such as the burial mound at Cillibion and the hill fort at Cil Ifor. There are also the remains of a Roman villa also on the Gower peninsula. Swansea has a vast history and a visit to Swansea may be more suitable for historians and archeologists. The university is popular as many students enroll from all over the UK and beyond. Many of Swansea's historical buildings and landscapes in and around the centre of Swansea were bombed during the German Luftwaffe blitz in 1940. The castle was severely damaged and from then on Swansea changed forever. Swansea has too many modern buildings now due to war. Maybe Swansea wasn't for you but you were an unaccompanied female walking around and no harm came to you unlike other cities in the UK, EU or beyond. A final note, if you look at old images of Swansea that show bomb damage it looks like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. These two Japanese cities may receive more visitors than Swansea but there's a difference. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are popular destinations for dark tourism, where visitors travel to sites of death and memorials. Hiroshima preserves the memory of the world's first nuclear attack through memorials, eyewitness testimony, and annual ceremonies.
Hello! I'm from Swansea and I agree it is boring and not what it used to be years ago with all the work going on; they're trying to make improvements but ruining it at the same time! I have watched your videos for a few years and it broke my heart knowing you were made to feel so unsafe in my country! I'm ashamed at the way some people act these days, some people in the UK/Wales have no respect for anyone these days. Please accept my deepest apology for what you went through, we are not all assholes I promise!
Thank you so much for your kind words~ and you shouldn’t apologize at all 💜 Everyone else I encountered in Wales was so kind and friendly 🥹🙏 All the food I had in Swansea was great at least~😋
I used to think Swansea was boring until lockdown when I started to see it in a completely different light. So much great walks and bits of history to see in the area. Don’t focus too much on the city centre, other than the market and Albert Hall!
@@adventuresfromwalesi agree, Swansea is boring if seen as a traditional city centre place. It's more of a whole area, and its completely fantastic. But its not a bustling big city at all.
If you don’t think being followed by someone who aggressively yelled at you and looked off is scary, you’re a probably a man 🤷🏻♀️
After a scary incident like that, it'd taint my experience as well.
You were in shock and processing your emotions. It's normal.
Some don't realize they are displaying negativity bias! 😂
Stay safe. Hope the rest of your UK trip was great!
As a Cardiffian, I can only apologise.
Things like that should never happen.
Thank you 🙏🥹 It's sad things like that can happen anywhere. But besides that encounter, Cardiff was a fun city to explore on foot!
I remember going to North Wales in the late 1970's I was a kid but even so old ladies in the centre of the village we were staying in shouted
"English pigs" at me and my family!
Be strong 💪 girl your video always make people feel happy inspiring and motivate
I’m glad you were unharmed! You captured Conwy beautifully 😍 The castles are stunning!
Thank you 🙏 Conwy’s vibes and sceneries were therapeutic 🥹
Scary! But glad you got to focus on the positives, cause that food looked bomb. Looking forward to the next place you are visiting!
Thanks! Yes I really enjoyed all the food in Wales~
My family moved to Wales from Gloucester been there for years made welcome no problems at all.
I totally agree with you !! I said a very similar thing to this young lady in my comment .Lol. 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
Andrea!
I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. Travelling is a wonderful experience but sometimes you face challenges and it can be discouraging, let alone frightening. I hope you can continue travelling to other places and that those experiences make up for the difficult times here. You deserve the best. Thank you for being transparent and sharing this part of your life
Aww thank you so much for the kind words~ 🥹🥹🥹Yeah… I was super discouraged and frightened in the moment, and felt so alone…But that incident really upped my mental game 💪
I will continue to travel and see as much of the world as I can! 💜
13:10 mind blown.. how have i never realised that.
Lol
And in Newport or Cardiff ,whenever I got lost & asked for a direction, 9 out of 10 Welsh people took me all the way to the spot ,my destinations !!! 💜
@@spark_6710 I'm glad to hear that you had such a positive experience in Wales, I hope you visit many times more in the future.
I live between cardiff and Swansea and im so sorry that happened to you. Im litterally crying
I have other priorities right now, but I am trying my best to at least get all my UK travel content out before the end of 2024 🫣
liverpool wont be much better.. loool
Nice vlog i think you are courageous to be alone travelling Wales blessings Stephen from Newport x
Lol. 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
My Grandpa was from Bangor such a nice place but idk never been in south I been near Conwy hope u did like some parts of it here there
I loved Conwy the most, especially the town walls 💜
You are so brave yaya, sending you hugs 🤗💕

YES !!! One of the most gorgeous countries in the world if not the most beautiful!! My No.1 fave in the world as well as Italy & Argentina ! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
I'm so sorry you had these experiences in Wales. Especially on your last night in Cardiff 😞
Thank you 🙏 Looking back now I’m glad least it happened on the last night, if it happened on the first night I’d be scared to explore Cardiff at all 😅 I still think it’s a cool vibrant city!
The food at Anna Loka looks amazing! 🤤
Best meal I had in Wales!
There are countless of other beaches aprt from Swansea Bay beach.
You come across weird and creepy people in most big cities, glad you enjoyed the castle and the good food wales has to offer, have a safe journey
Thank you so much!
Looks like the Universe is trying to gently nudge you to ditch the airpods when walking around in a strange city. Your cheerful message. Be safe 🙏
I didn't think about that at all, that makes sense haha. Thank you!
Nice to meet you again. Good video. You are a brave girl ! 👍
Thank you so much 💜
So sorry you had a bad experience in Cardiff where I was born and still live.
Right and people not wild,Koreans are wild when in other countries they are not well mannered so she is need not say negative things to Wales
Honestly, don’t let it get you down about coming back. I promise you, most of us are decent people and are more likely to act as a tour guide than anything else, because we love our country and want you to love it too. So I apologise for my countrymen that mistreated you, nobody should have to experience that but unfortunately it happens no matter where you go.
Oh
I agree totally ! Welsh people took me all the way to my destinations every single time I got lost in Newport & Cardiff ,10 out of 10 did it !! Who does that in this day & age !! Maybe only Welsh & we,Japanese ! Lol. I live in Los Angeles, though ! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
Safety is the most important 🙏🏻
Yes totally agree~
Mumbles Pier had, unfortunately, a big fire.
If you do come back to the north I would gladly show you around the north
Well thanks for the totally negative report on my hometown many other vlogers have enjoyed themselves in Swansea bad things can happen everywhere the fact you won’t come back to wales will not cause me to lose any sleep goodbye

I'm Welsh and got abused for speaking my own Language.🥴My apologies.🙏
康威看起來很不錯,我也好想走一圈城牆 😄
走在城牆上真的很有Feel~
Calling people's hometown boring on several occasions is quite insensitive, especially when you hardly scratched the surface of what there is to offer. Please be nicer next time 🙏
Unfortunately, I say this as a Welsh woman, the level of racism in Welsh cities has worsened. I have been approached by men, and I'm a great grandma! I wonder if it's due to the rise in homelessness? Or maybe, drugs? There are a lot of guys out there that see certain women as weak and vulnerable, and frankly, it's not good enough. Wales should be setting the example, not making excuses.
Well, you wanted excitement, you got it
Imagine being from a city that boring and then scaring off the 2 tourists with racism.
Every place has its bad side. No offence taken what so ever. All the best.
I’m sorry you had to went through that.
Thank you dear 🙏
You eat in a day what I have in a month 😂
She didn't go anywhere 27 miles of beaches literally 10 min walk, she just eats
Fried squid? Not vegan BTW.
But he was spitting the words in my face in a very aggressive tone and decided to follow me...😰
@@MisusYaya he’s “racist” in your opinion
This is not something that you should be broadcasting to a worldwide audience.
You went to the wrong places, in my opinion. You got brecon beacons and new quary west, Aberystwyth, devil's bridge and Pembrokeshire.
We don't want you back, anyway. I am also vegan and I like Swansea!
That’s literally the whole point of this video though 😅
The ‘negative’ part was only about 5 minutes in this 30-minute video.
@@MisusYayaThis commenter is a prime example of negativity bias…😆
Someone said hello in Japanese and you make a massive deal out of it ....pretty pathetic really. You way to over sensitive to be traveling
It's common knowledge Wales is one of the best and prettiest parts of the UK, if you don't like Wales you certainly won't like the rest of the UK!
天哪!幸好妳有警覺心察覺他跟蹤你 😰 妳沒事就好
謝謝你 🙏🥹
Omg he was following you? I thought he said something in an aggressive tone which you believed to be racist! What did the police say when you told them a man said good day to you in Japanese in an aggressive manner who was following you? The police in the uk will not tolerate racism or abuse which makes you feel xenophobic. I’m sure you had it on film so there is good reason to report it if you haven’t already!
I’d be interested to know how you get on. Good luck with your travels I hope you find what you’re looking for. Hywl! Iechyd da!🏴🇬🇧
Toughen up ffs
Very poor travel vlog.
Great video - hopefully your followers take note and don't visit Wales
Welsh people are very friendly and will engage with strangers. Completely opposite to London etc Someone saying konichiwa is not racist . Granted they should maybe have just said Hi and not followed you. However as a solo traveller you need to be aware of your surroundings too. Walking at night with airpods through an area with nightlife you need to be smarter . Keep safe and enjoy the UK.
Missing the train was your own fault.
Not researching Swansea properly was your own fault.
Yup, it was my fault for missing the train. I was just sharing how the incident at night affected my mindset and focus the next morning.
As for Swansea, I did research things to do and shared my experience as someone relying on public transport. I’m sure people traveling by car have a different experience. Though someone from Swansea in the comments did mention it’s boring too 🤷🏻♀️
Don't be a dickhead mate, there's a time and a place for comments like that
@@MisusYayai don't get why your making a mountain out of a mole hill..
I'm from third world country too~
@@MisusYaya Thanks for your kind response. May I ask where are you from?
The Welsh hate their own, never mind anyone else.
As far as tourism goes it's on the decline. I've brought back a French and a Brazilian girl here and they both said it was a shit hole.
You are beautiful 😍
Thank you so much for your kind words~ and you shouldn’t apologize at all 💜 Everyone else I encountered in Wales was so kind and friendly 🥹🙏
All the food I had in Swansea was great at least~😋
I used to think Swansea was boring until lockdown when I started to see it in a completely different light. So much great walks and bits of history to see in the area. Don’t focus too much on the city centre, other than the market and Albert Hall!
@@adventuresfromwalesi agree, Swansea is boring if seen as a traditional city centre place. It's more of a whole area, and its completely fantastic. But its not a bustling big city at all.
@@ynysmones3816 absolutely. In the new year I’ll make a video on Swansea as a county and not as a city, hopefully show it off a little.
