  • A popular inshore fishing lure is the Berkley Gulp Swimming Mullet.
    This is one of my favorite lures to throw at juvenile tarpon. It can also be used to target redfish, trout, snook and even black drum.
    This lure has a tail similar to a bass worm tail, which gives it some very vibrant action in the water.
    After thoroughly using the Gulp Swimming Mullet, I wanted to give you my honest review of this lure.
    In this video, I give you my top pros and cons for the Gulp Swimming Mullet and show you how to rig and retrieve this lure.
    See the full review here:

    The Gulp Swimming Mullet Specs
    The lure comes in four different sizes: a 3″, 4″, 5″ and 6″ model.

    Great video! By the way, that "softenting" of the lure is a straight revenue-boosting strategy. We're all buying more of these than we used to have to. Their scent formula is perfect, and that supports the deminished plastic quality. They'll push it as far as they can. At some point, a competitor will match their scent quality and take them out by the knees with a lower price point.

      @@HunterbidenscrackrockI don’t think there is a gulp knockoff in the US. Maybe overseas. Closest thing to gulp is maxscent but that’s berkley again!

    I have been successful with using the Chartreuse Swimming Minnow under a popping cork as well. It has quite a bit of versatility.

    Try wrapping dental floss onto head side upper third of the hook -jig, then coat floss with super glue and push plastic bait into place. The jig will hold longer and work better. Could also place plastic on upside down, so the tail will less likely catch on the hook.

    When the tails are bitten off, you can replace with a small spoon threaded through the body and that really works the fish up. Also, you could rubberband the body around the jighead which will keep it on the hook itself.

    I wish other baits would get bites like Gulp. Around the Chesapeake Bay area I often outfish the people using real bait with Gulp. I use Salt Strong or Z Man if the tail biters are bad,
    The silver and the gold Gulp swimming mullet seem to be quite a bit tougher than the white or chartreuse and I catch plenty of fish on the silver. I caught 7 flounder on one last weekend.

    Too many people were complaining about the action of gulp baits,so I guess they made of softer so they had more action. I take the little pieces if a pin fish or something should bite off the tail I save a little pieces and put them back in the juice and tip jig heads with them,saves alot of money.

      I have caught fish on just the nub of the bait after the tail was bitten off. Gives the lure a darting action and smaller profile like a small glass minnow.

    Turn the bait so the tail is facing downward...that way it wont catch on the hook.

    Can you mix the mullet and shrimp juices together, is it the same formula or will that just screw it up? They seem to be a slightly different color fluids.

    • @smcewen7
      @smcewen7 6 лет назад +1

      To me all that gulp juice smells the same,so yeah

    • @tonyacevedo3149
      @tonyacevedo3149 5 лет назад

      Yep its not a problem. The older the juice is, the darker it will get. I have noticed the darker juice will give the white baits a sort of "off-white" or bone color, which I actually prefer over the bright pearl white.

    Can I the spray the liquid on other lures to attract fish

    • @tonyacevedo3149
      @tonyacevedo3149 5 лет назад +1

      You can, however it will come off very quickly. The gulp baits are made to absorb the scented liquid and slowly disperse it over time. If you put it on other soft plastics, it will wash off after a few casts. I recommend pro-cure scented gel on other baits.

    I quit buying gulp after they changed formula to soften bait. Money grab that has already ruined there reputation with a lot of anglers will hurt there bottom line
