Thank for posting this, I was the producer on this and it stands as one of the greatest projects ever for me. It was such an honor.
That's SO cool!!!
james carey it still stands the test of time!! Very well done, and thank you for that!!!
Wow, AWESOME!!! It is probaby the biggest Holy Grail for me as a drummer. Everything was just perfect! Thank you so much sir!
james carey I WORE THIS VHS OUT!! Thank you James!!
That is so amazing James. WOW. What an amazing production you guys put together. I can only imagine what an amazing, once in a lifetime experience that must have been for you. The only way to get that much drumming talent in a single production would be to get Gadd, Weckl, and Vinnie on the same stage again. I bought this on VHS back in the early 90s and literally wore out the tape. I'd rewind and rewind and rewind trying to figure out what all three of my drum idols were playing during this amazing performance. I think it's safe to say this tape influenced generation of aspiring drummers, which must be really gratifying. Thanks for sharing!
I love this era of Dave Weckl! The mullet, the recording customs, the far back on the stick traditional grip (which he made work somehow - all sorts of speed and power), the Zildjians, and the fierceness in his playing at this age. Dave is STILL absolutely amazing, and I love this playing to this day, but this phase of Dave's career was really special.
I still have my 9000RC from the same era.... Cherry red the same as Dave’s and the same drum sizes..... and i still have this on VHS... I watched this again and and again and again..... still up there with my favorite drummers..... loved this era ..... Dave was awesome, Steve i love when you can hear him on certain records..... especially Steeley Dan.... Michael McDonald , but that’s just one of my favorites.... then...... there is Vinney.... fark....
Still has the mullet too! :)

Guest drummers:- 1. Louis Bellson. 2. Gregg Bissonette. 3. Dennis Chambers. 4. Dave Weckl. 5. Vinnie Colaiuta. 6. Steve Gadd. (Personnel on Camera)
- Recorded on 14th October 1989 at The Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles.
John Leys (bass trombone) and I are good buddies. It's great to see him on this date and concert w bone section greats like Ric and Bruce and the band sounds great. I thought I saw Charlie Davis up there with Bobby Shew.
All the drummers who participated are all great with their own style. For a true big band drummer, Rich had all the bases covered - excellent time, a showman, and one- of -a-kind chops. He will always be in my mind the world's greatest.
Great drumming by some great drummers. Steve Gadd and his drumming gets to me emotionally, and that´s the way I like it!
Vinnie = GOAT !!!!!!
There is no GOAT.
@@marcpost4034 There is one, in MY book anyway, and he’s named Don Vincenzo. 🐐😉
Vinnie and Dave 🔝🙌🏻
Great to see/hear the great Bobby Shew solo and lead!.
Yamaha drums were great then in their great now an they were on full display that night and pearl. Of course Louie had the Ludwig kit....colaiuta, Dave weckl, Steve gadd, all used yamaha that night. Dennis Chambers played Pearl( incredible sound, my favorite kits), Louie Belleson played Ludwig and Greg Bissonete played that beautiful signature Pearl kit which glowed in the dark( the hardware anyway). From his days w/ the David Lee roth band. From which his career took off .
Louie Bellson played a Remo kit. He started his career on Gretsch and subsequently used Rogers, Slingerland, Pearl, and then Finally Remo if memory serves. : )
Esse tributo foi e sempre será um marco na história da bateria!
I was blessed to see Buddy in New York and Santa Monica. In Santa Monica at a small club my friend gave Mr. Rich a shoulder massage in order to get him to do West Side Story after the half time. Great guy for his fans, Mr. Rich.
The way these men work around the kit!
For just pure curiosity. Could the people that disliked the video, just explain why? Pure curiosity.
Because these drummers are crap compared to Buddy Rich.
@@larrysmith6797 could you explain why. With a facts please.
@@larrysmith6797 Crap? Weckl and Colaiuta have a far more developed rhythmic and musical vocabulary than Buddy and they surpass him in every way except hand speed.
Vinnie Colaiuta at the end... smh 🔥🔥🔥
The greatest drummers of the world. Yeah!
Timeless great great great!!!!!
Ive seen this always on crapy quality. Thanks for posting this, great quality. Amnazing
Grande Dave weckl
We're so lucky to have this concert
Steve gadd the beast
Атмосферно - ВЫСШИЙ ПИЛОТАЖ !!!!!
2021 and this is evening is still legendary.
there ws a different intro with Lewis benson explaining about buddy being god , then a Blk n white big band track played. gggrrr it was soooo dope
But the drum off between Dave Steve in Vinny was absolutely amazing the highlight of the show.
Pavel Voroin. Thanks a MILLION for this!!! All the way my man! (caugh caugh... Vinnie.. caugh caugh caugh)!
Thanks for posting this! I literally wore out my VHS tape of this (and the other tribute videos), so this is fantastic!

For me (as much as I'm obsessed with Vinnie), when Gadd gets up he swings harder than Vinnie AND Weckl combined.
weckl is my hero. is the best drummer i saw, but colaiuta. omg!! wtf.. is a not human drummer here
Thanx for upload...the sound is very good but the volume is too low...?
Sadly, the winner of the scholarship award, Ronnie Manoag, passed away from cancer in summer of 2018.
I worked with Ronnie several years ago on an Augusta Symphony pops concert with The Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. He was subbing for their regular drummer. Great player and really nice guy. Sorry to hear of his passing.
And Ronnie Minogue from California just dissappeared with the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship and we never heard about him anymore...
I just read that he passed away a few years ago.
That was awesome the winner is Gadd more groove based best hair goes to Weckl they were all great
rotten kid was Composed by Buddy Greco

This is amazing Pavel, thanks for sharing! Do you have the first part too? I've seen it some time ago and now I can't find it anywhere (I find just some individual videos)
I was in the 4th row.......and they weren't selling any posters, but I took a poster from the marque, only 2 in existence, how much would you pay, just wandering what it would be worth?

Mateo García thanks bro!
Does anyone have a recording of the first Buddy concert on Long Island? The one with Dom, Jim, and Joe? I was there and I can hardly find a reference to it, let alone a recording.
I'd like to see a personnel list.

@@pavelvoronin4599 Thanks..... :-P
🙄🥀💚🌱
Cathy Rich no necesita una prueba de paternidad para saber qué es hija de buddy Rich
Butch Miles would have been better for this band!
Weckl is better
Drumming it's not about that :)
👏👏👏
