George & Ira Gerswhin - Lady Be Good
Saw Buddy in Englewood NJ with the Killer Force in '73 my idol and that's why I still play after 40 years
His Beatles wig is hilarious.
I'm 84 "in 2024" and found my love of jazz thru a cousin in 1955. He owned a joint called the Blue Note in Chicago and every chance I would go downtown and sit in the area he had for under age fans. The story I heard about Night was that the whole band was high on hashish when they wrote it.I was just a young white kid yacking with giants between early sets so who knows what was true.
1:18:08 Buddy's long-time friend and manager, Stan Kay once said in an interview that Buddy's black belt was honorarily awarded to Buddy.
Botched that bone solo
Great! Will you upload the other parts at some point 🙏
❤
Thanks for posting!

33:48 senta, que lá vem!
I think Sonny and the guys could keep this up all night long and still swing us along!
Not a great chart, but the sax soli was kind of cool. Interesting to hear Woody take a jazz solo on alto. Usually he just played ballads on alto-with great phrasing I might add.
Gleason asks insightful questions. Earthshaking to listen to Louis answer very intelligent questions about King Oliver's band
jazz casual is a reliable trustworthy witness to jazz history

as a time traveler, four years into the future. it think that it's awsome that your sharing your ped-agog-a-billy bass instruction. Wkillie was the shie, fer shure. i learned, watching old footage of him when i was akid, in Gordie Howe-Towne. my dad [played jazz 'n' my mom played rockabilly, and soul. i did the Pete Turland vids, years ago. now composing 'n'recording my own origin-iLL $hit. i love jammin' to your kickass instructional vid's>Cheers, from SpoCanada, in the soon to be; U$$@
I been workin on this video since 1989 and still cant play faster than 160bpm, Im still tryin to get up to speed.
That's ALREADY fast, man. I wish I could play that fast.
Buddy Rich: the G.O.A.T.
It doesn't get better than Art Blakey. What a drummer! What a leader! He picked the best players. There should be an Art Blakey Boulevard in every major American city.
From what film? From what year?
Excellent!
Not too many great male jazz singers. I will add Al Jerreau and Bobby McFerrin. Women, for some reason, outclass and outnumber the men excepting these three.
Crazy that already in 84 they talked about "vintage" referring to early 70's stuff.
👏🏿👏🏿
What a track by Bobby Timmons. I think this "Moanin'" performance is best live performance of all time ❤❤❤❤❤
Lee Morgan ❤❤❤❤❤
I didn’t know Gerry could play piano like that.
GOAT😊

Superb Stan! They once played MUSIC!
Tyvm for sharing Pavel! This is a great piece of jazz history.
❤
All the drummers who participated are all great with their own style. For a true big band drummer, Rich had all the bases covered - excellent time, a showman, and one- of -a-kind chops. He will always be in my mind the world's greatest.
I wanna add something to the double thumb technique, if your thumb is super straight without curving up like hook , the technique won’t be as good much more effort to sound good than someone who has thumb that curves up like hook will produce better tone and sound much better with less effort
Hmm I have a straight thumb, it works really well for me. Never noticed it being more difficult to learn because of it, but maybe it's subjective and varies from person to person :-)
la princesse Diana écoutait elle aussi oui ?
I’m just thankful someone who had the courage, visionary fortuitous and instinctive mindset to recognize the greatest art form of music and musicians is truly priceless beyond measure. Sincerely, “Jazz Is Forever”
lovely rendition, but perhaps a little fast? Feels a bit like some of the groove is lost because it's running away so much. Great overall sound though, especially the woodwind opening
1. total mofo on the guitar and can explain what he's doing so just about anyone can understand it. 2. Snappy dresser. Sweater is badass.
