I’ve looked into trail rails and bed rack system for my Frontier (I knowwww, not a gladiator!) for a while. Wanted to do a unistrut diy system but it looked overwhelming. After watching your two vids on installing, I’m confident I can do it now. Thanks for the info! Looks great and you made it seem less daunting than most others.
Hey, thanks for watching and the compliment. It isn't very hard at all. Nissan has a better system than the Gladiator, but I'm sure its stupid pricey. I use mine a lot and I've never had any issues whatsoever. Good luck! I'm confident it'll be fairly easy.
Just got a Gladiator Nov 8! From a Wrangler to a Gladiator, it was truck necessity based decision. First thing I looked up was bed modifications. I just finished installing the first rail! The sun went down, but tomorrow morning, I'll finish the job. Man this is awesome, thanks!
That’s awesome. Even if the bed isn’t set up for it, you could always just use sheet metal screws, instead of bolts. Same difference. I have a video posting tomorrow, showing a whole new use for unistrut. This may be my favorite diy modification yet.
Thank you Just got a 22 frontier, not much out there for it. just need to fix it for some camping. The old jeep (M38A1) is not a freeway rig and for sure not with the trailer. So, I am looking for DIY's for the truck. Thanks again.
Nicely done, even with the oversight with reverse hole layout, nice and clean. Also, brought me back to my childhood playing on the sidewalk seeing you work out there, kinda ironic considering your channel's name.
Just FYI, don’t know if prices change since this video came out but it’s cheaper for everything at Home Depot. About 50% cheaper. This is a great idea and build. Keep up the great work.
Good job bro…Me having OCD, I’d just say when done u should worry about ur aesthetics bec that lil piece of 2”x2” was crooked when u tightened ur eyehole bolt down. Question: wouldn’t u need Nutz on the back end of those Uni-Strut support bolts u used? So if u tie-down something tough, it doesn’t rip em out of ur bed sidewall?
They are threaded and there’s no way to get to the back. I’ve had zero issues in nearly two years. They work great. And trust me, I’ve fixed those rings to be the same a million times. OCD is alive and well inside me.
Can you explain more about your reasoning? Why do you want a solid backed strut? Why not just use the pre-holed ones and use washers to pin it to the bed? I presume your truck bed already had rivnuts in the holes? Mine doesn't. I just learnt what a rivnut was today and because that wasn't mentioned I almost started the project only to fail at stage 1. How can this be under $50 project? A 10 foot unistrut on its own is $99 CAD.
Man, you’ve got a lot of complaints. Well, for one, I’m not in Canada. I can’t make this with everybody’s currency. I’m in the US. I also made this back in like 2020, so things have gone up. I like the solid unistrut because I can have holes where I want them. Not all over the place. My truck has threads in the bed. I don’t know that not all did. You’re the first person that has said they didn’t have them. Sorry this video was such a disappointment.
The pre-drilled holes don't align with the holes in the Gladiator bed, so you end up having to drill holes anyway. Also, if a hole overlaps slightly, it would be even more difficult to drill out correctly. It's easier to just start with no holes and put them where you need them.
Did this for my Gladiator, but I used the regular Holed strut. (Covid has made things hard to come by). I'm curious, can you show how you mounted your Gas and water cans to the strut? Thanks and subbed.
Home Depot or Lowe's will have it in the electrical department. If there is a local Fastenal, they will have many styles and options. Any electrical supply place will have it also, but the normal box stores will have a limited supply, but easier to go into and buy. Also, Grainger.com
For someone who’s bed doesn’t have Pre-drilled holes, what size drill bit do I use for a m6x30 bolt? Also, do you just bolt it into the bed without a nut on the backside?
Fastenal only had 12 gauge its like .020" different in thickness. The unistrut isn't gonna be the weak point. It's gonna be the screws mounting it to the bed, and how thin the bed wall is which is gonna be way thinner
I'm not sure what part you are asking about. Do you mean the side pieces themselves? I believe about 50 inches on the sides and like 47 for the back window one.

That’s awesome. Thanks for watching!!!!!
This super helps and that bed rack too that you made in the other video was a life saver. Keep up with the great content.
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Great system, I have tons of unstrut laying around. I have stock rail system in my launch edition but will add this to my sons Ranger.

Yeah, I find myself thinking the same things sometimes. Thanks for watching and it’s always nice to eat from people.

The price fastenal have me in store vs online was huge. But things change sometimes
Also, thanks for watching
Awesome video. This is what I like to do instead of spending my hard earned all time
it looks great.
Thanks for watching!!
@@EvolvingMale Welcome
Good information, the mic sounds good! Glad your feeling better.
Thanks George.
This is a great way to make a feasible trail rail.
Exactly what I was looking for. I did not like the one from Home Depot simply because of the holes. I am heading to my local Fastenal. THANKS!!!
Awesome. Thanks for watching
I am about to try this!
You got it!
great job!
Thanks
thanks for good idea!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Well done ✅ next on my list for my JT

What's the advantage of the solid channel? I want to do this on my Gladiator.

Sweet glock decal lol👍
Thanks
I never saw a weather proof ammo box that didn't leak. Good ol' military grade stuff.
Great video, but what are the dimensions of the rail. How long is it and what size strut? All I see at my HD is 1 5/8. Thanks.
It’s 1 5/8 strut. I don’t remember the length offhand but it’s easy to figure out.

I will try to do a video sometime this week and post it. Make sure you got the Alerts set to tell you. (Click that bell). Thanks

Your super strut link doesn't show anything on their website. Is there another vendor you found these at?

I cant believe you don't have predrilled holes. They should be there. But if they aren't, I guess you'll have to find a way to get a nut back there.
@@EvolvingMale @goddamnadam Plusnuts or rivnuts should do the trick
What size length is the strut that you used in this video?
1 7/8”? I think. Or it’s 5/8. Anyway, it’s the bigger one. It comes in two sizes
Do you have the measurements on all sides?
12 or 14 gauge? Great Video. Getting all the part together now!
Either one is fine. I honestly don’t know which one I have. If you’re worried about load ratings, you can find them online. Thanks for watching.

@@mav68nrs I agree. The aluminum is way thinner.
What size m6 bolts were they?
M6 x 30 will be fine.
I am astonished ANYTHING is cheaper at Fastenal. That store has a way of making a rich man feel poor.
I do get my works pricing so maybe that helped.
what are the measurement to cut the stud

How did you mount the ammo can ? Can you make a video
