    14:00 please correct.....Alcohol with SOCl2 without pyridine give retention & mechanism is not SN2 but SNi

      I've noticed this a lot lately. Maybe it's newer because a lot of these older videos, all show this discrepancy.

    Hey, I’m in orgo 2 now(after making a C in orgo 1) and I am just lost I watch your videos and it makes sense but when it comes test time I gave no clue what I’m looking at or doing, what should I do? I haven’t really had a mental block like this for a class before

      Watch his videos and do practice problems, especially those similar to ones on the test. Do problems until you know how to solve each type of problem. Let nothing get behind you

      Can't be sn2. Sn2 is concerted single step reaction.

    Hello, please am confused when you said PBr3 even though reacting with the secondary alcohol proceeds through an SN2 reaction. Because we know secondary and tertiary alcohols are SN1 reactions.

      They proceed in an sn2 reaction whenever they react with hydrogen halides

    10:44 But in the case of socl2 using pyridine as the solvent isn't it going to form a compound that has the socl2 molecule without any chlorines but the alcohol on one side and the pyridine on the other?

      not actually Sn2 but overall finally inversion is observed .

    Oh, ok! So the O in Ethanol(?) has a stronger polarity than Br so it takes the H from HBr (to be H2O and Ethylbromide?) Dig it (noob, thanks COVID hahahaha).
