      Is it worth it to spend $1600 to get i7 processor? I would use it to code and do some video editing.

    • @MaxTechOfficial
      @MaxTechOfficial  5 лет назад +5

      Honestly, it's only a little faster. The main difference I think is 16GB of RAM.
      i5-1035G7 vs i7-1065G7
      (17,607 vs 18,971 multi-score in Geekbench 4)
      Graphics is also slightly faster.
      (36,947 vs 39,437 OpenCL in Geekbench 4)

      If you're okay with Alcantara finish, I'd go with the $999 model if you're okay with 128GB of storage. It's crazy bang for the buck other than the SSD.
      If you want all-metal and 256GB at $1300, it might actually be worth spending another $300 for the $1600 model with 16GB of RAM.

    Might be a little late to the party but I’m coming from a XPS 15 and everything was fine and dandy, until I attempted to boot my laptop, starting the Spring semester. But then, No power. Thought it was my charger, Battery. Nope, turns out its the motherboard, apparently it’s common for XPS. Now Dell wants $400 to replace, on top of the price you pay to send it in. Really disappointed. Just keep this in mind. Look up the issue, very common.

    Great review. Glad you mentioned the wonderful magnetic power cord which can't brake. Awesome design decision Microsoft! Other reviewers have complained because they don't provide a Type C charger but that's not what I want for sure.
    I've got the surface laptop gen 1 ($1100). The 2k 3:2 display is great and since I primarily use this laptop for entertainment it's awesome that this laptop is very quiet. The gen 3 still only has a 45wh battery which provides good but not great battery life. If Microsoft would put in a bigger battery (60wh), then I would upgrade immediately. I don't need better ports, better sound, faster processor, bigger hard drive, etc. I have many other high powered desktop machines with 40 inch 4k monitors for work. No way I want to do much work on a puny laptop. Maybe if I was sick, I might want to work in bed but I almost never get sick so not much value in that.

    I’ve purchase surface laptop 3, 8gb of ram and 256gb of storage, and this is my thought.
    - The software: nothing special, but having been used it for 3 weeks, I noticed some lag, which is surprising, ‘cause I didn’t expect surface product has this kind of problem.
    - The built quality: very sturdy and beautiful. I did accidently hit the edge of the laptop with a table lamp and no damage at all.
    - Battery: I did get 5-6 hours solely watching RUclips. There was something strange. The time expected to fully charged wasn’t right for me. It took longer than that. I use 220V current (standard voltage in my place) to charge.
    - Fan: hard to hear.
    - Heat: the laptop was quite warm, not hot during watching RUclips.
    - The Alcantara cover: I would say it felt like wax, not silk or velvet as I expected.
    - Speaker: loud and clear. I don’t know the standard when comparing, but I did satisfied
    - One thing to know: the keyboard and surface mouse stuck oil from my finger tips (never knew my hands have oil). I never have this problem with Asus (my dad’s laptop).
    - Since the laptop had some lag and stuck oil, I returned it. I’ve done some research and I think surface laptop is a bit pricy, 1300 just for 8gb ram and 256gb of storage.
    *I’m about to buy a new laptop which is cheaper, to pocket some money. Which laptop do you think it’s good for college with medium use? Many thanks. (sorry for my English, I tried). (I live in Vietnam, but my sister bought laptop for me in US).

    Honestly, for longevity if that matters to you 8gb of RAM is not good even for a light workload with Windows.
    I checked one out at Best Buy and really just opened up a few programs and it did run pretty well but it was nearly maxing out RAM usage. Kind of wish they would have had the i5 with 16gb or ram or make the ram interchangeable but that doesn't look to be the case. The SSD storage is easy to replace though so going with a lower model and buying a larger SSD down the road is a good idea if you need it. Honestly though, with how you can buy a 4 TB external HD and store things on the cloud extra internal storage really isn't necessary. Even my desktop with tons of space really only needs it for video games, and this laptop is not for gaming.

    Nice video! I was wondering if you can compare: Xps 13 2in1 vs MacBook Pro 13 vs Surface laptop 3 ? I want to buy one of these but i'm not sure which to pick. The most important things is the 4 cores, good speakers, 16gb ram and a premium quality that will last me many years.

      Well I did say laptop😊.
      yea.
      The razor is a 13" thin and light (ULTRABOOK) laptop (no 2 in 1) with the comet lake processors, with an option of a GTX 1650, this is a first for a machine of this small size.
      I did mention this was a first for the same processor (comet lake with a dedicated GTX)
      But you are correct if you add 2 in 1 to that and older cpu generations and nvdia gtx cards.
      Yes, the Surfacebook is a tablet/laptop and has had the dedicated GPU option for years, but it definitely is not a thin and light ultrabook laptop.
      in 13.5 and 15" form, I was talking traditional laptop with a modern 4GB dedicated graphics, as others have has the mx150/250, usually 2Gb version for a while.
      But it is a great 2 and 1 laptop, it is a shame Micrososft takes so long to update it, and the surface desktop, they are almost always 2 or three years behind when it comes to the latest cpu and gpu upgrades in relationship to the competition.
      Still great products though.

    I’m still confused, doesn’t all 10th gen Intel computers have integrated Thunderbolt 3?

    • @nightryder21
      @nightryder21 5 лет назад +4

      Even though Ice Lake’s 10nm CPU and 14nm PCH companion chip (yes, it’s not all 10nm) mean that manufacturers no longer need to buy and find space to integrate a Thunderbolt 3 controller or a full Wi-Fi module onto their laptop or desktop motherboards, there are still additional components they’ll need to source from Intel to make it work.In the case of Thunderbolt 3, they’ll need to buy and integrate retimers chips from Intel, and Thunderbolt 3 accessory makers will still need to buy the regular controllers for those; in the case of Wi-Fi 6, there’s a new, smaller companion radio module that manufacturers can buy (like the 802.11ac CNVi companions for 9th Gen Core) but they still need a separate module to make it work:

    • @nightryder21
      @nightryder21 5 лет назад

      Essentially the pci lanes go straight to the CPU VS coming from the chipset.

      yes but it's up to manufactuers to enable it and add ports.
      Microsoft being cheap, and to protect the sales of the surfacebook above it, chose not to, this also gives them the ability to add it later in a year or two and say look at this major upgrade.
      the chip allows for 4 tb3 ports and 32 gb of ram if the manufactuer so chooses.

      It was all explained in the video already, I think that if you needed further explication this product might not be the one for you... he noted that the CPU of those machines is Ice Lake and not Cannon Lake (the two 10th gen Intel one) which is very good since Ice Lake is flat better performance per core and much futureproof with its integrated graphics, the screen thing is just a mouthful thing for content creators I think that no real user should bother besides contrast ration and brightness which was stated as a little bit low to be very good.
