I do agree that Benedict did a fantastic job as Sherlock, but as far as the actor who best captured the character as portrayed in the original stories, that would be Jeremy Brett, hands down.
The man is just such a SWEETHEART. Really! I followed his career from his Sherlock days. He has always been dedicated to family and always been so kind and decent to everyone. I remember when he was in a London taxi with his wife and he jumped out to chase after a man who had stolen a stranger's purse. This monologue is so HIM: gently amusing, appreciative, and warm.
So lovely to acknowledge caregivers specifically. So many of us without moms, but we have other caregivers in our lives who have stepped up. THANKS TO ALL CAREGIVERS!
He is a fantastic actor! And he should have gotten the Oscar already; as he was absolutely brilliant in The Imitation Game and The Power of the Dog... So much talent in such a classy man...

An absolute classic British tv series, and looking forward to the day when Mark Gatiss finds the time to write season five, and Cumberbatch and Freeman are available to work together again!!

Benedict hit it out of the park as did the script writers (I imagine obviously himself and with coordination from the staff writers) , and I loved it. Very sweet, and a perfect start off to the show that lights up the heart and spirit. Great monologue!

Yes! Cabin Pressure (and Benedict's role in it) is so underrated and honestly one of my favorites of Benedict's roles! Great for car rides. I need to give my CDs a re-listen. It's also interesting to me because Cabin Pressure started in the 2000s before Benedict had widespread fame from Sherlock, and some of the seasons came out after, so Benedict has definitely come a long way in the past decade!
I have waited a long time for something like the "Chloe Fineman: Understudy" sketch. I genuinely wish every week would include a 'behind the scenes' type of sketch. There is an enormous amount of talent, we should get an occasional glimpse.

I am one of the allegedly 12 people who saw Power of the Dog. Him and Smit McPhee were brilliant. It's a study of a man who's a monster, who gets his comeuppance by possibly an even bigger monster. It's striking, powerful, and this episode was hilarious
I finally watched it on Netflix last night. ***SPOILERS*** * * * * * * I was getting Alfred Hitchcock/Norman Bates vibes at the end. I didn't see that one coming. I now see why is got so many awards. Benedict played a real SOB in that one too.

One of those statements was that British actors do American accents better than American actors do British accents.
