Somethings wrong with the way the extractor is shown in use. We see the extractor spinning on the bolt without effect; then, we see the extracted bolt. We are not shown the extractor biting into the bolt. That's an important omission.
This video is actually a "how not to do it" - for a large bolt like that you need to use the proper size extractor - the one in the video is too small - you never use that with a drilling machine because of the speed - the set of extractors come with a special tool - like a handle so you can manually use them - by spinning them with a drilling machine they will overheat and will brake - after that you'll need some special drills made from titanium just to remove the pieces of extractors - and those are expensive
Please show the actual extraction of the bolt for a better understanding. I have a cylinder head to remove and all the bokts are rusted and have worn ro the point where all the head bolts will probobky brake. Thanks. Your videos are a great learning tool

How can you take advise from a guy who does engineering in bare feet, and use a left hand extractor drill in a standard right hand drill all wrong.sory mate had to be said.

ShowStopperSam It's called a centre punch. You use it to give the drill bit a starting point to prevent it from dancing on the surface. Sorry this is a year late.

if the bolt is rusty before extraction spray with WD40... very often it's very hard to extract if the broken bolt is very tighten...
This will work if you don’t put the extractor on a drill you use hand tools and hit the broken stud with a torch to soften the metal .

Those extractors can be removed only by using titanium drills I guess - let us know how you solved that
