    Mike I'm so glad I found your channel. I've watched your videos for 1 week and today shot 36 41. My best score in three years since hearing about shaft lean, lag, and shallowing the club from the top which completely screwed up my golf swing. Thank you very much for getting me back on track. It's great to know now exactly what my swing was/is doing and why. I'm a new fan for life!

    It's cold up here in Colorado! This weather is for the birds. Back to FL I go. Thanks again Mike for the instruction. You're right, we have in the past made this game much harder to understand. Your struggles are not in vain remember that. Without you, I would never had a change to make it to the tour. NOW I have a chance thanks to you.

    My first lesson in the early '60s used a variation of this drill. 1) raise club up in front of you until arms are at about 90 degrees to body with wrists cocked 2) make your turn 3) swing. My swing was what was called a caddie shack swing - a little too flat. This drill got immediate results with higher hands, and a higher, straighter ball flight - with a wooden shafted 5-iron.

    Mike, been watching for the last few months and your instruction, style really has helped my game, not only what you show but a lot of the thinking and talking about how to approach practice, and playing. Example, I played a round last week and the only thing I focused on was my RHYTHM of my swing, and most of the round were relaxed solid shots. What a difference, thank you and keep the video's coming.

    it seems less clumsy for me to make this a 5 step drill. i love this drill mike. it's fantastic on the first tee waiting to hit. the best part is how it develops the pace and rythum. any time there is a "waiting" or slow down to the pace of play on the course is gr8 to do this a few times. thanks again

    Hey Mike, boy I've been waiting to here the things you are teaching. I started playing golf at 40 yrs old. It's been a up and down struggle trying to do what you are seeing the pros do. You, put it in proper context for me when I heard you say on one of your videos. Is it a cause or an effect. I realized I had been trying to produce an effect without understanding the cause. Im now perfecting the Malaska move Lol! Golf has now become fun. Looking for to lower scores! Wow Thanks Mike you are the clearest teacher I've ever heard!

    I have been playing golf for 50 years with a low handicap of 8 in my 40,s climbing up to the 12-14 range as I entered my seventies . I am still able to play the Members tees and and hit the T-ball 235-250. The main problem has always been inconsistency with the T-Ball, long irons and fairway-woods. Just turned age 76 and in the last month have shot 2-4 strokes better than my age 4 times! ...all do to practicing this 4 step drill. It has changed my game!. For me it has become the 4 shot drill PLUS 2. Instead of going to step 4 , I have been (4) bringing the club lightly back to the impact zone (on about the same 45 degree angle it turned up in step 3) behind the ball, step 5 is just a half way back swing waggleback along the path it came down, and step 6 is repeating that same waggle path and going back into a full back swing. Coming into the ball is Sooooooo different and I dont even have to think about clearing my forward hip, it just happens naturally like you demonstrated in another drill. Mike , you are the best at keeping this simple, I probably have 20 different CD,s explaining the one -plane, two plane swing, etc. This definitely feels like a 1 planer which I never could seem to master. Never could get the hips moving correctly. This 4 step drill simply made them go the correct way naturally. Anyone reading this might think this must be taking up lots of time BUT the fact is I have shortened the time from adress to hitting the shot by at least 50 %! Thank you, Mike.. Bill C.

    Cheer Mike, drill has shown me that my hands and wrists were in the wrong position at the top. Also from the new position you can't hit the ball unless your hands drop first. Stick in! You'll make a living out of this yet👍

    It’s taken several different times coming across this video to understand the concept.
    Thank you so much.
    It’s mind bending a bit to understand where the hands are at impact. When I stand over the ball, especially with a driver.. it feels like this leads me to an over the top/ outside in club path. So is the takeaway my problem?

    I am 70 & still an avid golfer but from 13 Hdcp to 23 in last 5 yrs - Could not care less about the score, after 5 heart attacks and still standing, enjoying the game as much but aiming at a normal score of 90 rather than 72. Having just as much fun when I play ''my type of par'' (90) and more yet when I manage a game under 90. As we grow old, there is a thing that rows with us it is called ''WISDOW'' - It has the faculty of selecting the impostant things from the nitty gritty stuff; Golf score is nitty gritty for me now ! Thank you still Mike for the clear explanations. Like you I wish I had known the swing before but... then again ...nitty gritty !

    Hi Mike. Am Canadian, so it will be months before I can try out some of your instruction material on the course. It is cold up here in Manitoba. All the material you present makes sense to me. In step 2 (rotation), do the hips & knees & torso & shoulders all rotate at the same time? I am not clear during the swing - why you did not translate weight from trail foot to forward foot in direction of target during the swing.

  • @normankleinberg5525
    @normankleinberg5525 6 лет назад +4

    For me, the issue is and always has been what is represented by Step 4. "Swing down and hit" is way too general for me; e.g. do you use the arms, do you use the body, do you keep a rigid relationship between the two? I can tell you now that a "lot" of people, me included, are going to do #1-3 reasonably well and then use their arms in the downswing to hit or swat at the ball and either hit fat or come into the ball with an open or closed face or hit it on the heel. But I realize there is no magic formula, perhaps learning just some of the steps will help.

      Norman Kleinberg hold the club out in front like a baseball bat. Now swing a baseball swing to left field. Don’t think of anything about arms, shoulders, hips etc, just do a swing to as if hitting the ball to left field. Now do a swing to hit the ball to right field. Now do a swing that would hit the ball down the middle. You should feel the difference in direction you are swinging, but most importantly you’ve just naturally swung, without thinking about what goes first. If you do it again and think about what muscles you’re using it will be your pecs probably, with your hands guiding the club...that’s step four. Now bend over and repeat for golf swing. As mike says set the brain a task and it will do what’s neeeded.

      It's basically a freeze drill without the take away. I agree you'll need to watch more videos to perform step 4 correctly. Good luck

    • @amihanov
      @amihanov 6 лет назад

      Hi Norman! Mike mentions at the end that it's tough to do this drill correctly without supervision. If you're a loner like me, check thoroughly with a video camera. It's tedious, but it's pointless if you repeat every mistake. In my experience, those old swing habits die hard. I'm still surprised how I go back to all mistakes when I try to hit the ball. Drills like this one need to be repeated over and over....

    I like this drill very much. What’s astonishing, it is without the Malaska move in the downswing. And I like this too, because the Malaska move feels unnatural for me.

    Hi Mike! Thanks for that great drill! I have a general question about swinging without tension in the sholders. Ok, 20 years ago in my mid 20s I had a 4 handicap and i forced the tension in my shoulders in order to get a stable triangle (arms, chest) while swinging. This had helped me a lot to get precision into my game and dropped my score. I hit 80% of the fairways and a lot of greens in regulation with that tech, i have learned out of a David Leadbetter book. So now I am back at golf after a 20 years break and the (old)swing still works pretty good with that stable triangle, but it seems to be not as good for my back any more. So if I do your drill and learn to swing without tension in the shoulder part, what does it do in relation to precision of my shots to the flag? I have the idea, that the hands/arms lead the clubface through contact to get the ball on a straight line to the target. So if everything swings loose and naturally is it still accurate? Thanks a lot for your videos, they are great! greetings from Europe!

    Bingo...@ 5:28...get left arm across chest, is it, get back to the ball with arms across chest or arms away from chest. My concern is that angle between the left arm and the chest. 90 degrees at address but more narrowed at top of back swing. Is the dropping of the hands down without the left shoulder turning under too soon what gets me back to 90-92 degree separation between the left arm and the chest. And if it is narrow still does that result from pulling or twisting out?
