I thought Dad did a fine job. One thing that helped me learn autosteer was to flip the steering wheel up out of the normal way I was used to steering.

Kip, for what it's worth, weve had autosteer or the hands free steering for over 10 years and there's still a couple or few fields that my dad still manually drives or uses markers on with the planter. Well those are small fields, like 10 acres or less. But he always uses the left hand marker when opening up a field, i should say over 95% of the time.
Im sure you know that once you get use to putting one side of the planter or drill along the fence or ditch, it's just easier to keep that side beside the fence on every field.

Kip we have Martin Spike closer wheels that would lock up with the Grant county diamonds we have.
I want to say that I got some guards I think from shoup may be it was Sloan express that really put an end to that.
We have a Rawson twelve row cart with a 7300 JD mounted hanging on the back.
So know all about Zone tillage

I was at a buddies farm and they have a manure sand separator system and they can reuse the sand for bedding but they also use the manure it dries up and they also use it for bedding. Idk if you have seen those systems.

Kip deere has a foot switch or a button that you can get instead of hitting it on the atu its way more easy and you dont really have to mess around

I agree I have a push button switch double face taped to the side of the right side arm rest where Dad is resting his arm, much more convenient then always having to locate that button on the back side of the steering

There is also a page in your monitor to ajust the sensitivity of the steering ,how abrupty or smoothly it reacts to picking up the next line ,turning to stay on line etc.

You will find the GPS will work nice for chopping too.
Especially if you get the same line you cut the hay with.
Is just getting it all set up right.
As mentioned before a remote switch id a lot nicer.

Thanks for the great video Kip and family.
It was so interesting and entertaining.
I am so pleased for your dad getting on to the auto steer. Change is not easy. Learning auto steer is not easy. Your dad is going through the learning process and he is getting on to it-great for him.
I am so pleased for him and happy he is making it work.
    Nice work DAD!!!!!!!!!!!
    You are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good to see dad and the brothers in the video. Always good to see the family!!!!!
Glad everyone is getting on to the auto steer. That is great. Will really help your farming operation.
Nice that super trucker could help getting the planter going and caught that rock stuck in the seed disc setup. The drone footage was great and showed how accurate the rows are with the auto steer setup. Great!!!!!!!
Worth the time and expense and learning curve. Your team is getting it Kip.
About it I guess. You all take care and be safe.
    The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
My compliments to your Dad for doing the auto steer. You got it Dad!!!!!!!
