I have been running BFGs KM3s 33s like yours for about 10 years. I have 4.56 gears and a 360. I bought my Dakota just because it had a discontinued lift.kit but needed a motor. CBI did a full set of custom bumpers, rock rails and roll bar. Love my Dakotas.

Yes, you are correct on it being the sway bar bushings. I have owned 4 of these Dakota's. The sway bar bushings is what develops the squeaky noise. Replace those with some poly ones and you'll never have a squeak again

My 2000 Dakota Quad Cab squeaked badly too, so I sprayed every rubber suspension, steering and body mount point with silicone spray and the squeaks were gone.
Aye man! If the rubber bushings are worn out just spray some more rubber on them😂 but for real, it felt so good to replace these joints. I fixed the u joint too so now there’s no clanking or squeaks, feels weird driving my truck with only the exhaust noise😂

Awesome dakota man. Ive got the same squeak from my 01 dakota and im dealing with it to this day, Im about to change EVERYTHING out too and just like you said its going to feel so good to not hear it anymore. I love 2nd genz. Is there a leveling kit or lift on your dakota to clear the 33s and if your dakota came as a 3.55 did you have to swap to 3.92 to move those tires easily or does the truck accelerate as normal with 3.55 gears ? Im planning on also buying km3 tires after I seen how great they match.
Thanks a lot! I continued the series with more videos recently, in the last one we make a custom tent to work as a pop up camper for the back! Next video we go to the SouthEast Overland & Off-road Expo!
Looks great!! I've been overlanding my 04 Dak on stock suspension and wheel size, once came dangerously close to high centering it I want larger tires but need more clearance first up front What upper and lower control arms did you install on your front suspension? are they just stock with a re-indexed torsion key? if so are your ball joint angles under stress? or do you have something different up front?
Hey! Sorry for the delay but we’re back and got content on the way🤘🏻 how have you been likening the Dakota platform?? And I went with a MevoTech full kit (sourced from rock auto) and yeah exactly I have reindexed keys and 3” cast iron blocks running on 33s.
As far as ballpoint and cv angles go I stay very conservative with my suspension. Due to the way torsion bars work, preload = Lift, I see a lot of people that crank the hek out of their torsion keys to get nice lift but then there’s no down travel, suspension is on the stiff side, and all the angles are very aggressive which can greatly shorten the life of the joints/ axles. I believe I keep my truck at about 1/2-3/4” away from the “full droop” bump stop. It’s given me that sweet spot of good on road/off-road performance while also keeping the suspension healthy and comfortable
Hi, thanks for what you're doing and capturing! I have watched some of the vids, but can't recall what lift you currently have on the truck. Is it lifted?
Hey thanks a lot! I love these kind of comments! So I only have a torsion key lift and I think 3” blocks in the rear, the rear blocks are cast iron though (harder to find and more expensive than aluminum but I broke aluminum before I even started off-roading the truck) Right now shocks are kyb which have been great but definitely need replacement, that’ll be another video down the line!
@@Al.Venture Thanks! I'm going with the 3" key lift as well, and will look for the cast rear blocks. I have the crazy squeak in the front end as well, only in the cold, and after a full Moog front end rebuild it remained. Next, changing the sway bar bushings to see if that's the culprit.
Did the ball joints come greased already?? I always try to get the ones with the grease fitting, all my new stuff is mevotech. These trucks ain’t too bad without sway bars (mine isn’t on rn) but I’ve heard ppl say they can be tough to get back in, maybe do that while you have the torsion keys out

Your Dak looks killer! What torsion keys did you install? I'm looking at doing a front end rebuild on my '04 and would like to add a couple inches in ride height so thinking of changing the keys out at the same time.
Thanks a lot dude! First what kinda Dakota do you have? And I have reindexed keys, I’m not sure what kit they were out of since I bought them separate. There’s a couple kits out there that come with keys and blocks however I definitely recommend staying away from billet aluminum lift blocks, I had one fail on me years before I even started going off road 🙄 Also what size tires you looking to run?
Mine is an ‘04 Sport, 4.7. Was an ex fire hall truck so well looked after, no rust! It is starting to sag a bit up front, torsion bars have been turned to raise up a bit. Was going to do the Mevotech upper and lower control arms along with the 1-3 inch keys from Supreme Suspension to level it out. I’m just looking to clear 285’s with no rub. It’s my fishing rig and would like to make it a little more bush worthy! 🤔
Also you should be fine running that size tire, I’m running 305/70/16 and they fit fine, I had to trim the bumper a small amount and tuck the fender liner a little bit but it’s been great, bigger tire gives you a lot of confidence too
Hey man! It’s from a the company “Lund” this one specifically is called a “Lunar Visor”, they made 4 different designs for our truck. I’ve considered making a video on the install but also if you reach out on Instagram I can send you pictures or anything! @Alex.Reinhardt
I have a 04 Dakota, My right wheel touches the plastic rivet and not the left side, what could it be that causes the right wheel to touch the plastic rivet?
I’m gonna be making a short showing off the exhaust! It’s pacesetter headers with a flow master exhaust coming out the side, the 3rd cat was deleted (it actually deleted itself💥) and replaced with a dump valve!
Dude thanks alot! They’re 305/70 R16 I believe, I’ve ran this size for years however I think the KM3s are a little bigger than my Falken WildPeak at02s I just took off
Thanks dude! Just uploaded a new episode of a separate series on my channel, next up will be me Going to Southeast overland expo with the Dakota to see how she performs as an overlander!
So this is a 0’ offset wheel however it sticks out about an inch more than stock did with same size tires (Falken wild peaks) not sure if maybe the true width is more or why that is. But so far it only rubs when full lock, i did lightly trim my bumper and pulled back the wheel well liner a bit though

Hey, so no not yet, currently my truck has 3.55s with a 8.5 rear end. However, I was able to source a 3.92 front axle and just found a 9.25 rear end with disk brakes, I think an LSD, and hopefully also 3.92.
I plan on pulling that axle and installing them both (of course making videos of the install along the way). And then if I decide I want a locker or bigger gears I’ll go from there, rear disks and a bigger rear axle though is a must for building a good foundation👍🏻
How much lift is there on your truck? Looks lifted.
Hey! Sorry for the delay I’ve actually been sick 🤒 but yeah it’s got a 3 inch cast iron black in the rear and re indexed torsion keys in the front! I love the way it looks and I keep the front suspension kinda soft to help off road
Oh that’s sick! I actually was a firefighter before I moved! I loved it, but yeah the trucks get taken great care of! Sounds like a sweet deal!
Also you should be fine running that size tire, I’m running 305/70/16 and they fit fine, I had to trim the bumper a small amount and tuck the fender liner a little bit but it’s been great, bigger tire gives you a lot of confidence too
Does your engine torque die with those tires? Do you have 4.7, 5.2 or 5.9?
Just switch the grease nipples
Im pretty sure they are threaded
Problem solved
Some grease would help that squeak, its a lot cheaper too
what suspension you running?
Where did you get that roof visor ?👌👌
Lets see your exhaust set up
I’m gonna be making a short showing off the exhaust! It’s pacesetter headers with a flow master exhaust coming out the side, the 3rd cat was deleted (it actually deleted itself💥) and replaced with a dump valve!
Are you running a lift of any kind?
Yep! Running re-indexed keys upfront (about 3” of lift) and I use 3” cast iron blocks in the rear. Fits 33s pretty well!
What Size of tires and wheels you got bro they look awesome
Dude thanks alot! They’re 305/70 R16 I believe, I’ve ran this size for years however I think the KM3s are a little bigger than my Falken WildPeak at02s I just took off
@@Al.Venture awesome keep up the good work
Thanks dude! Just uploaded a new episode of a separate series on my channel, next up will be me
Going to Southeast overland expo with the Dakota to see how she performs as an overlander!
Nice Truck bro I have one 2004 crew Cab
Oh sweet! That’s right before they changed to the new body style, do you off-road yours too or what’s the plan?
@@Al.Venture nah bro I just Got a 2018 Ram 1500 4x4 want to lift about 4 inches and put some 35's on it haha
What is so sick about it is the tires the rims what?
Are they offset any so they don't rub
So this is a 0’ offset wheel however it sticks out about an inch more than stock did with same size tires (Falken wild peaks) not sure if maybe the true width is more or why that is. But so far it only rubs when full lock, i did lightly trim my bumper and pulled back the wheel well liner a bit though
@@Al.Venture thank you I've been having the same issue with the squeaky so I'm going to check out that company. I got the same truck with the 3.5 inch lift and 33s but I had to put spacers on mine. It's hard to find good off road parts for the truck
I agree! I plan on adding fabrication to the channel and hopefully I’ll be able to start distributing some much needed offroad parts to us dakota/Durango enthusiasts 🤫
Do you know what brand of tonneau that is? I have the same one and can’t find anything about it??
Does your truck have a lift or body lift or is it stock
My trucks got a 3” suspension lift (torsion) with 3inch blocks in the rear. Do you have a Dakota too?? Personally I try to stay away from body lifts
Yes I do. I like how it looked and been wanting to overland build mine
What kinda Dakota do you have?? They’re great trucks for this kinda stuff!
Exactly like yours just bottom trim and fender flares are grey
Oh I’ve seen those two tone paint jobs before, it’s a pretty good look! Gotta lift it and get some tires now!
What is the size of the new tires?
i need a cheap beater truck like this
How much did the wheels cost?
What are sizes? Rims and tires?
what lift do you have on it?
Ball joints
Is that dakota pre 2000?
What did you use to lift it
Where’d u get the lift?
So I actually bought my lift off someone on Facebook, it’s just reindexed keys and then I got cast iron blocks for the rear. What are you looking to do with your Dakota??
What’s size are those rims
Can u put the link to the rims
Any links ? These look hella nice 👍🏽
Thanks a lot man! I don’t have a link rn but I’ll have a build list going into my bio on the Dakota videos soon since a lot of people have been curious! What specifically are you looking for??

@@Al.Venture Your car is very nice, it looks very aggressive with those tires... congratulations, excellent work. My brother has a 3.9 L. 2001 Quad Cab
What size wheels
Can you give me the link for the wheels?
Que medida son los neumáticos?
Tire and wheel sizes please???
What method rims are those ? Model
Hey dude! So they’re method race wheels, MR315😍
Thanks brah!
Yeah dude! Are you building yours for off-road too or what’s the plan?
Mine is actually all done . Just need to add some new rims and tires ! My is a 2wd 2002 dodge Dakota with 3” lift kit . Took it everywhere . It made it out of Death Valley in one piece lol
Heck yeah dude!🤘🏻 that’s sick, I have family in AZ, i totally want to bring my truck there after visiting a few times. Have you seen that 2wd control arm lift kit for out trucks??
Just change the fittings.

Nice job. I have a 02 Dakota and I had new springs made for the rear , it raised it 3 inches, the front I put a 2 in puck under the front springs, wrong way , now it's way too stiff. It's not a 4x4. Is there A arms and springs n shocks out there to raise it properly 2-3 inches? Could I use 4x4 A arms like the ones you just used? Please get hold of me on messenger pm me your number so I could ask questions. Thanks Bubba Villiard
I was loving the video untill you put the lugs on with that auto wrench. Probably alright, just made my heart drop
لحية على الفاضي، الله يزين سريرتك مثل ما زين ظاهرك
Hey! Sorry but I’m not sure what that means, I tried googling it but no luck😅
I don't know why people show videos about their trucks or their cars.Or anything else if you're not true to your videos you're not true to yourself.People like to see stuff done andstalling parts on cars. That's what most of the videos are all about. But some people I guess they're just saying that they don't want to do it
