    The line is losing its identity. It all started with Gorilla Gorilla . Creating non playmates characters and doing variants of existing characters. Is a waste of time when time is already a huge issue with outrageous release dates.

    The Alt head for rapper mike is finally going to be the main head for my regular mikey! I wanted s7 to finished all original characters from the first 5 waves but I'd settle for all figures from 88 to 90 I doubt I'll do 2003 from s7 I really want neca to do 2003. I'm honest I struggle with buying s7 tmnt just because I know as a kid if you showed me neca, comic,toon and movie lines thats what i always wanted. Playmates is just want he had at the time

      I think Neca would do a great job creating a 2003 series that matched the models from the show. I’m curious if super7 will make the 2003 figures fit in with the past ultimates. They had such a distinct style in that show/toy line I don’t think you could make 2003 turtles built off of the 88 turtle ultimate bodies. It wouldn’t be faithful so I’m interested in seeing how it goes with them. I don’t know if I’ll stick around for 2003 too. I like the show, but I may just be happy already with the old figures.

    Great video! Yeah, something has felt off on the Ultimates TMNT line all year. There's been some kind of shift, but they're not allowed to talk about it. Some people say Playmates has no authority over them and that has nothing to do with it, but it sure seems like it with all these bizarre "choices" Super7 has been making (or are forced to make?). Also, I don't think the Four Horsemen are sculpting the line anymore, so they do look different. Overall it kinda feels like they're biding their time with these last two waves--like they're trying to figure out how to do the big, crazy characters everybody wants, but they don't want to get to them until they work it out with Playmates or come up with a new look that will work. And now with the 2003 designs being added, the whole line has kind of lost its identity/focus/direction. We'll see what happens!
    Good call on the Toxic Crusaders, too! I made the decision to start piecing that line together this year, too, which was a tough decision to make since they're crazy expensive now. But the designs are so good! Luckily I found some lots on eBay that were mostly complete. I was going to try to get them all MOC, but that's not sustainable...

    • @razrentals8897
      @razrentals8897  9 месяцев назад

      You can definitly tell that four horseman isn’t involved anymore. Ray Kings face, even though it’s better, has a little cartoony thing going on with it. A little bubbly just like Guerilla Gorilla who I bet wasn’t sculpted by them either. I don’t know if that was ever confirmed. From what I was told by someone who knew someone at super7 so take it with a grain of salt, but Playmates doesn’t own the designs of the old toys. Nickelodeon owns them, but Playmates holds the master license and they threatened not to make new movie/cartoon figures unless Nick made super7 change what they were doing. That it was cutting into their reissue money.

    • @razrentals8897
      @razrentals8897  9 месяцев назад

      Also I agree about the Toxic Crusader toys. The designs are really great. I had a couple incomplete figures for years so I’ve been completing them and over the summer I bought a few I thought were complete at a toy store, but found out later they weren’t. Getting the accessories can be a pain in the butt because some of them are in limited supply on eBay. You lucked out getting those lots! It can be fun though building up a line and slowly checking stuff off your “need” list haha.

    I agree with pretty much everything. This Rat King is a HUGE improvement. Props to them for actually listening to the fans. If they can't legally recreate the original toys anymore, at least this Rat King has the spirit of the original toy, which the first Rat King they showed didn't.
    And yeah, these already take soooo long to come out with their long pre-orders and constant delays. And now they're doing 2003 Turtles every other wave, so it's going to take even longer to get the old '80s characters.. To give us a wave like this is only one new character, it's frustrating. Are we going to have to wait until like 2029 to get General Traag?

Who knows about 10, but if we only see 7 and 9 next year at our doors than the only figures we get in 2025 may be waves 10 and 11 which means you legitimately may not see another classic mutant design in your hand until 2026.

    Well looks like your wish I’ve been granted about them doing some serious makeover on rat king. However my only problem with this reveal is the lack of accessories to him, like I felt that he could’ve came with more than just a flute, but at least they gave him more items, which is good. I’m looking for to having him in my new Night of the Rogues gallery.
    Nevertheless wave 11 is OK wave but not as good as wave nine, just nothing special. And not as weak as wave 10. Still, pretty unpopular choice but I’m also fascinated in the damage footsoldier. But I do agree, they should be getting better with their reveals and be more creative. Wave 10 and 11 was lackluster at best.

      @@seanbeckett4019 I do think symmetry is a problem. It’s kind of what I was trying to say in the video. I’m not sure what the method is for sculpting toys or 3D models nowadays. back when I learned to sculpt one side of the body and then just mirror it and connect the vertices. If you mirrored that image of Ratking I bet the arms and muscle groups would all line up perfectly. They may have even done that with some of the older figures, but for some reason there’s something about this sculpt that looks maybe more toyish than the older sculpts. There are some folds, objects, and stitches that make him not completely mirrored, but maybe if the arms were exaggerated or there were more rips or something he’d be a little more dynamic. Take a look at the Neca Mirage Rat King. He’s very exaggerated and dynamic.

    I'm still disappointed about it being completely different from the Playmates figure and I think S7 is missing out on the opportunity presented by the ban since they could have gone crazy with the creative concepts and expanded on them into even wackier Ideas instead of what they did with this figure, which is just the main concept but taken to the bare minimum. Why not a 3 point hook instead of the og 2 points. And how I miss the punk rats, which could have been presented with the looks of punk Don if they'd gone for the 3 point hook. Imagine a skateboard made of rats with different kinds of wheels based on the rat king concept (a lot of rats entangled by their tails). The crossbow could have been made out of the snake skin or they could have kept the snake belt with cheese and rat traps and used the cat as the crossbow. Anyway, I just think they're going into the wrong direction with this series and I'm devastated that we'll never get a modernized Wyrm.

      Yeah I agree with you. The new Leonardo was a new design and he seems very basic. He has a few accessories that capture the turtle style, but when I think of the old Playmates toys I think of excess detail and he doesn’t have that at all. This series had that, but it’s shifting to a place where I care less and less about it. I love your Rat King weapon ideas. I wish they had somebody working for them that truly understood the zany and gross designs we loved back then. Not getting an Ultimates Wyrm is such a huge let down. He was such an amazing action figure back then. I’d love to see him, Dirtbag, General Tragg, there’s too many! And now it’s going to shift to 2003 turtles. I loved that show and the playmates toys, but nowhere near as much as the 88-93 figures.
