I listened to this on my long drive home after a very stressful and exhausting week away. I decided to really crank the volume in my car so that the music was completely surrounding me, drowning out my anxious thoughts, making me feel as I was floating through the waters. When the guitar kicked in halfway through the song it hit me like never before and the wall I had been maintaining in my head while away finally broke and I found myself just openly sobbing in my car. It was completely unexpected but was incredibly cathartic and absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Andrew
His music has a way of evoking emotions in me I forgot I had. Just like outer wilds did. I had forgotten what curiosity felt like what true awe felt like. Then at the end what loss but acceptance and happiness all together felt like. And the music is the core to this. The man has a gift in his ability to speak to the soul and the journey. Truly spectacular
*From a journal found inside the sealed vault...* My life, despite everything, is something that I am proud of. I held my ground and made my beliefs known, and I always did it with strength. I only showed love for my friends and my family. I kept them safe for as long as I could, and I never wavered. I think I put them first most of the time. I would sacrifice myself for anyone outside of this tomb, actually. I would do it without hesitation. My greatest regret will be not saying goodbye to my family. I was rash and acted on impulse and anger. I thought they were wrong. We have no right to silence something with so little knowledge. We have no right to be driven by fear, because the worst actions in this world are the ones that are driven by fear. I can say that I was never scared - only intrigued, interested to answer whatever that thing was calling out for. I would do it all again, as long as I could say goodbye to my family. I should be grateful for the time I got to spend with everyone rather than dwelling on the sadness and guilt, but... it's hard. Even if everyone else forgets me, and I am lost to the sands of time and the waves of the galaxy.... I will remember me. And that's enough.
*Text was found beside the vault on a small paper note...* Wow, there sure are alot of journals inside The Prisoner's vault. He must've been a prolific writer! (good job btw)
@@andrewprahlow I watched your Day of the Devs stream, and you don't know how happy I was to hear the tune now used in Hearth's Shadow. These new songs hit a new point man. Especially this one. The game is over, the curtain has been closed. And this? This is what plays during the credits that is the life of Outer Wilds. Whatever your next project is man, I can't wait for it!
@@andrewprahlow Youre a genius. Elavte this game music and sound effects. What did you sue to make the unique nomai sound effects btw id like to know they just sound so alonst nostaligic yet futristic
I really hope you will not get tired of OW. Because i assure you, even when you'll get older, people will still come up to you and tell how much this game and its music meant to them. Thank you very much Andrew, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
This track. Wow. There's a real sadness to the start but those last few bits where the piano moves to the banjo. It's impossible to listen to this part without welling up. Thankyou Andrew. This music will stay with me until the day I die...
Hearing that tune at the start brought back the same sensation I had when I first played it, underneath the Bell. So anxious and sad - not wanting it to be over so soon. More fear - an intimate fear - in that one moment than all of the stealth sections combined. Thank you for these reprised tracks. They mean a whole lot.
I had the privilege of hearing it live, and it was incredible. I am proud to say it made me cry. This piece really fills the space, makes you feel everything. A life-changing experience
Though it's "higher energy" than any particular track of his I can think of, this instantly reminded me of Max Richter in the first few seconds. Which is intended as a compliment - he's one of my favorite composers. Really superb stuff, Andrew! Thank you for this album.
Man your Music means so much to me, you are really a Music genius and the Experience of playing this amazing Game wouldn't be as magical as it was with your music. I finished playing both Game and DLC a Long time ago but many of the Tracks from the Game still brighten my playlist and my day. Thank you
Truly an amazing song that sparks the most complex emotions possible. This song made me cry for the first time in a while. It's a thank you and a call back to the adventure we all shared. Thank you so much Andrew, I love this fucking game.
the sound of water was my favorite track you made for the outer wilds DLC. Even though it wasn't a year ago it came out, this song feels like remembering everything about an old friend. But it feels like it’s their goodbye memory, so I want to cry.. Thank you for providing the music to the game that changed my life, a hundred times, a million times.
Andrew- You madlad, you've done it again! Fantastic work. Thank you for making the OST to the best game of all time ::) Also, I'm so glad that for once my brain was right about something. Reading the last paragraph of the Description and what your intentions were with these Lost Reels match up basically perfectly... I can just Imagine Hal, the Hatchling, Slate, and all the other Hearthians just turning their eyes and ears to the stars in sudden shock as a signal comes in, and these tracks start blasting out of the speakers in the Observatory, and they all hear the same thing. Do said speakers exist in-game? Probably not. but given Signalscopes exist, it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to assume, right?
I love this ❤️❤️❤️ It mashes the original themes together in a new way and- just, like- STUNNING!!! another emotional song to put on loop, thank you Andrew Prahlow.
“Spirit of Light” may also be an appropriate name! It sounds like light refracting off water…so is the water or the light the focus? Is there a difference?? So beautiful. Andrew, you capture glory and quiet intimacy in this piece. Such wonderful attributes of truth.
ah yea that's awesome! I ended up naming it the spirit of water because it's technically a re-orchestration of the sound of water where I changed the synths & guitars to strings.
Hey, it's the melody that I can't hum without my voice warbling from being on the verge of tears, I'd know it anywhere! Also, did you perchance use some samples from the first version of the theme you ever made? ;:)
I have been listening to the previous track for months now, always wondering why Andrew decided to finish it like that. Finally listening to this made me realize how beautiful both halves of this piece really are and how they work well to portray a beautiful work of symphony.
the buildup from the last track to this one is so stunning and i am once again crying lol
Honestly soundtracks should just give up this man single handedley made the best one of all time

Reminds me of "Spring 1" especially, love it.
I think Andrew said in a comment on the Echoes of the Eye piano cover that Max Richter was a huge inspiration for him.
You forgot to end the quote in the last paragraph in the description! Quick before the nitpickers find it!
