I see an owlk watching as their world is torn apart around them, realising this is the last time they will see these sights and it's too late to undo the damage. They focus on the eye, but tears break through the mask. Nothing is left but a recording, a dying memory.
1:21 is so great. its like when you played the dlc at first and it felt like nothing had changed, there hadn't been any long wait, you were just going to explore the next part of the story
After experiencing EotE I was really sad about the end of the story which means there's no more miracles like Outer Wilds, but these new soundtracks make the spirit of Outer Wilds goes further and I'm really happy as a common player. You remind me how I cry in front of the screen when first sharing my story with the Prisoner, thank you Andrew.
Don’t worry, I’m sure Mobius is cooking up something else just as good. I thought it could have been luck, but the dlc proves they really know what they’re doing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they kept Andrew around for the ride
*From a journal found inside the sealed vault...* It used to be beautiful, the home that we had. I remember when it wasn't complicated. I'd wake up every day and do the same things, talk to the same people, have similar conversations. I remember playing games with the children and telling them stories of space, of other species existing thousands of lightyears away from us. I remember talking to the elders of our village and learning everything I needed to know to continue living a happy life. I remember all of the projects we had hoped to create to improve our lives, and how excited everyone was. I remember being eager to have children of my own, to meet somebody that I could love forever. I remember feeling real sunlight instead of artificial sunlight. I remember it all, the stagnancy of it, the beauty and comfort that came with the repetition of each day. I remember when we were ignorant and knew nothing of what was to come. I still dream of that life. It was home. We made mistakes. Too many. We learned something we shouldn't have. We knew too much, and we became scared. Scared of what this existence could become. There is something bigger that we have no control over... we are much too small, much too insignificant in the grander scheme of the universe, and there's nothing we can do. What we have done to ourselves is much more frightening than what this world will become, I think. Who are we to try and fight the natural order of the universe?
Perhaps the only negative thing about Outer Wilds is that it is SO memorable that its almost not replay-able. You can start a new journey, but you'll never recapture the feelings you had experiencing it for the first time, your first blast off from timber hearth, the cosmic terror of falling through the black hole of brittle hollow, touching down on the quantum moon, the magnitude of the eye, the final travelers encore, the dozens of time loops spent fighting against one puzzle, the thrill of their solutions, they stick with you so much that nothing will ever compare to those moments again. You'll never feel quite like you did again. Perhaps that's why Andrew's soundtrack is so dear to us. Listening to them is the closest we'll ever come to recapturing the magic, wonder and depth of the first play through. We listen, and we are transported back once more to that first experience, and our hearts ache because of it. And with these reprisals, Andrew captured not only the wonder of the game, but that aching heart as well, fully encapsulating not only the game, but what it has meant to so many. Thank you Mr. Phralow, I hope we'll work together one day.
It isnt replayable, the memories and stories along the way are the playing, and you only get one shot at that. Kinda reminds me of the ending in a way, its cool that in this game atleast, the ending is truly the ending.
There's an ache in my chest. A longing without direction, a need without release. I hear this and know that there's somewhere I must return to, or something I must find, but I don't know which.
This game taught me how to love space; I always had that love for space for as long as I can remember but when I played Outer Wilds, I finally, for the first time in my life at that point, understood why I love space; and to some degree, I think everyone feels the same way as well. That love for something so seemingly far away from us yet so close, right at our fingertips that we, as a species, have finally made our way there after so long. The reality of that is such an unfathomably beautiful thing. I'm glad a game exists that reminds me of that and I'm glad I have songs I can link that enthusiasm to and remind me every time I listen to it, that there's just something so wonderful about the world we live in, even if the worst of it is still terrible and evil sometimes; and for that I'm eternally grateful.
I remember I once went to an exhibit about apollo 11, and it was in the form of this little movie. As the lander touched down the camera slowly faded to a picture of the stars, and in that moment the main theme just popped into my head. I thought of everything that led to that mission, and at the same time everything I experienced playing outer wilds. I nearly started crying.
The Lost Reels is an unbelievably beautiful gift to the Outer Wilds community. The fact that it exists continues to amaze me. We are so lucky to have it. Thank you Andrew. Thank you Mobius Digital.
This truly feels like leaving. Leaving home, where you grew up, leaving your past, leaving your friends and all your memories behind. The bitter feeling of the departure
Man this guy came out of idk where and created one of the most emotional ost's I've ever heard I can't imagine anyone else creating the soundtrack for Outer Wilds, so thank you Andrew for letting us experience your amazing art through this journey
This game saved me from a endless depression I'd been suffering from for over a decade l, and it wouldn't be the perfect gem it is without the incredible music. Here's to the Outer Wilds; taught me to stop and smell the pine trees along the way.
no words can describe how much the soundtrack of this game means to me. thanks so much for making these masterpieces and touching hundreds and hundrets of hearts 💙
Outer Wilds is a game that I don't think will ever truly be matched by anything else I have ever or will ever play, when I realised EotE was the last thing we'd ever get from Outer Wilds I'd be lying if I said it wasn't soul crushing, but the OST for this game is my favourite music from a game EVER. I couldn't think of anything better to carry on the memory of this game and the experience I got from this, thank you so so much.
Andrew, your music brought Outer Wilds to life in ways that are difficult to describe. Thank you for the smiles, wonder and tears. I hope you continue to work with Mobius and other studios in the future. Lots of love,
I don't know how you do it. Not only did you compose a perfect score for the base game, you did it again for Echoes of the Eye. Now this? Amazing work.
I always think "he must have released every soundtrack from Outer Wilds now", but you keep gifting us with new ones that are just as amazing. I hope you still have some left for a Deluxe Premium+++ album, haha
Is this a birthday gift to me? In the last 2 years you are in my 1st place in the Spotify year rewind now you release new songs of Outer Wilds just two days before my birthday. I am joking about the present but i'm very happy to hear these songs. ❤️
Very beautiful ambience song. Outer Wilds really is an unforgettable experience, and it's reflected in the soundtrack. Thank you so much for your work.
I like to think that every sound, every note just made up for anything the game was lacking. It has built entire universe far beyond the capability of our moder hardware. If there's anything more powerful than that, its our imagination, and your compositions have beautifuly bent it to the follow the game concept. Thank you Andrew, you are the best!
A friend of mine linked me this song as I was departing from a weeklong vacation with him down in Florida. Made me shed a few tears as I was about to take off.
Gosh I only played the game a year or so ago now and this gives me such a sense of nostalgia for something I know I can never experience the same way again. Thanks for your amazing work, Andrew. You've given us so much with the soundtrack and now these expanded tracks and I can only hope I can someday pay it forward in some small way.
Can you ask mobius to somehow put this song in the game as an easter egg ? A true, final goodbye, maybe for ending the game with all achievements. I'm pretty sure we all need a reason to return to the wilds, and this could be it. What a masterpiece you created again. See you on the other side, I'm glad I can listen to your music along the way.
Wow. I wasn't expecting crying at like 0:40 the first time I will hear this new melody (I'm just writing this commentary as I'm crying) xD Thanks Andrew for everything. (Btw, i just saw you released this the 26 of August, which is my birthday, perfect timing, how could I have missed this, whit the bell on) And Andrew, if you are reading this, It's certainly complicated to do, but I would love to get a vinyl or a CD of outer wilds OST.
Props to you Andrew for actually putting the name of your song first. So many of the playlists on RUclips put the song names after the game name and on mobile I can’t tell which is which! And the music is phenomenal too, of course!

I’m glad to share this story with all of you.
Andrew is truly the last traveler in the band I am glad he can finally join us with another reprise

The discovery that the Sun Station project had failed

Hey Andrew, can you put these on your Soundcloud?

It's a theremin
