DARK Chapter: Hunting The Nightmare | RWBY Fan Animation

- This is a RWBY fan made animation.
Dawn, Ash, Raith and Krimson venture deep into Grimm territory to hunt a creature infamous for that what it inspires; a Nightmare. After days of wandering dread lands they finally reach their destination, now only the final challenge remains; ending the Nightmare.
"Hunting the Nightmare" is a chapter in the story of team DARK. It is not their first nor their last chapter. The shown events take place 2 years after the initial character trailers and alongside modern day canon RWBY (volume 7 / volume 8).
This is only my fifth animation project and my third year studying / working in animation. If you have any critique or feedback about my animations feel free to leave them in the comments, I really appreciate the help. The critique on my past work has helped me grow faster than I ever could on my own.
If you like my work and want to see more of it, please consider financially supporting the project. Any donation allows me more time to work on these animations. Thank you.

Haven’t you heard? The Devil doesn’t wear horns he wears a face of beauty & lies.
I mean, I don't think Salem needs to turn into a monster with the power she already has. These things follow her command just like the Horror Hound in Volume 8.

In another universe, maybe. But canon Salem doesn't want to rule the world (that's Cinder's goal), she only wants to die.

He's definitely the Veteran of the group.
I agree that Raith is the big Brother of the group.
You know, there's a rather dark topic here I haven't seen in the comments, either no one has mentioned it, or I missed it, but the fact that Ash hasn't succumbed to shock, and even gives a thumbs up, within minutes of suffering an injury that mostly likely shattered her legs and completely crushed the internals, suggests that she's suffered many injuries to the same degree, if not worse. Just a little tidbit I saw, whether or not it was meant to be like that.
The spider-like Grimm feels like it would fit in a setting like Warhammer 40K. Just absolutely horrifying, loved it.
Pretty much all the Grimm in this clip look like they could be Tyranid bioforms from Warhammer 40K, and that is terrifying. Awesome work.
the ambience and sound design reminded me a lot of the "Astartes" animation.
Raith feels like that one high level player in an RPG game that decided to farm for the final boss armor and then help some lower level players
Not one word was spoken yet there was so much personality in each of the characters.
Monty style!
That’s why his fight scenes were so awesome
What are there personalities exactly?
@@cheffrozone6596 from what I saw so far I'd say the yellow fox/wolf chick has a lack of awareness (as evidenced by her almost walking off into the pit of spikes before her teammate saved her)

@@cheffrozone6596
Black has an edgy surface, but is actually the big brother of the group, always having everyone's back.
Yellow seems to be a rookie with a lot of heart. She almost walks off a cliff and gets distracted when she sees her teammate in trouble.
Red seems to be the guy who's definitely afraid, but will defend his team with everything he's got no matter how afraid he is.
Not sure about Orange though, but she does seem pretty close with Yellow.
Body language and fight choreography can say much more than words can.
You know, nothing has ever made be say “Oh HELLL NAW” as hard before when I saw that spider giant grim thing. Props for that

This is what RWBY is all about, this sort of fight sequence. Thank you so much for bringing it full circle! (interesting choice to go no music- definitely adds a creepy vibe, which I guess is what you were going for!)

@@lesnarahamilton5674 I would have enjoyed some dialogue and more sound design. However, the muffled silence does make the atmosphere feel that much more unsettling.

Given that unlike RWBY. There seems to be no story in this series.
It's just this team fighting Grimm who look more like Lovecraftian Monsters (Kinda looks like RWBY meets Silent Hill).
There's no explanation as to why this team are here fighting Grimm or where they're going.
Not helped by the fact there's no voice acting and the characters don't have any back story aside from the girl who looks like Cinder to some extent.

Raith is truly the star of these animations. Every time he appears the camera follows him. Also I didn’t think your Grimm design could improve anymore, I was certainly put wrong tonight.
The fact that there is no music and it's only sound effects makes this even more terrifying and suspenseful. Great work
Wow. That aesthetic is so horrifically good. The design of everything is so distinct, it may as well not be a fan animation for RWBY. Very much your own thing at this point. Comparing this to your first vid, a lot better. Physics is handled better, everything flows well and movement is a lot smoother. Definitely one of the best 3D animations I've seen from freelancers in awhile.
I absolutely agree with all of that
There are some neat ideas here.
First off, I like the Grimm design. They are mishapen, nightmarish creatures, as you'd expect them to be given how the show keep describing them.
I like how they are actually presented as being dangerous and requiring some care to fight them, as opposed to someone like, say, Yang, just Leeroying her way through everything. CRWBY did up their game with the new talking Grimm, but it didn't really do anything except knock the main characters around. Here a character nearly got eaten.
In terms of semblances we have a couple of neat concepts. Raith absorbs Dust to improve himself, though it seems to have some negative drawbacks. Dust absorption was mentioned in the show but we don't really see it all that often, so its nice seeing it here.
Dawn appears to be a telepath, transmitting orders to her teammates. Its also a clever way of having the characters communicate without having to include voice acting.
Ash creates short lived doppelgangers of herself to help her with acrobatics, similar to Sun's semblance.
Krimson is a tank. Pretty simple.
Overall I do like the atmosphere and animation, though I think the sound could use a little work.
Your Grimm designs are superb! Best part of your work in my opinion.
I've got some good things to say about this. I've been a RWBY fan for some time and have seen many fan made animations.
1.) This was very fluid and not very choppy. Lot's of fan animations usually stutter alot and don't flow well. I expected yours to be the same, but was pleasantly surprised that when the fighting started, the quality didn't decrease.
2.) The monsters. RWBY could learn a thing or two about creating terrifying grimm from you. Your creations here were terrifying and unique. They also moved and flowed well.
3.) Voice acting. I was just a little disappointed when I didn't hear anyone talk, but that also might be a good thing. It's better to have no voice acting than bad voice acting. But this is in no way a negative.
4.) Character designs. I do, for the most part, like the design of the characters. I did laugh when I first saw the guy wearing all black because I immediately thought "Ah yes, stereotypical badass edgelord over here." But that's not to say he has a bad design. I did like when he was powered up by the dust crystal, that his cloak changed. And the guy in red, he looked kinda basic, but that's just a personal opinion.
Overall, this was amazing and earned a sub from me. I'm excited to see where this goes. Keep it up my friend!
9:56 Raith back hurt from carrying the whole team!!!
truuuuuue
I really like how killing the two grimm wasn't some massive thing for them, they're trained hunters and this was their mission, only the Nightmare was ever even a challenge for them. Im trying to think of a name for this species of grimm, maybe the bloodlusts or regens, but they look amazing and i can't get enough of them. Beowolfs looked like puppies but now they look like newborn rabbits.
Oh bloodlust that's cool name for them.
@@princeofqrow3181 thanks i thought of it myself lol
I love the lack somber music it really gives the chilling sense of dread where you mostly just hear the sounds of the Grimm and the sounds of clashing with them from their weapons I rarely get spooked from an action-packed animation so veeeeeery good work
This was so unnerving to watch. The design of these "grimm" are so unholy and horrifying. The fact that there was no dialogue to really describe the chemistry between these characters made it feel like any of them can bite the dust at any moment. It is so rare for me to feel like any of the characters I'm looking at could have died. I was legitimately scared for them and just freaked out in general. Great work! I know I'm 2 days late. Had no idea people were still making these.
I know a bunch of people have been complimenting your Grimm designs ever since you uploaded your first video but I love the Grimm designs, especially the one with the stomach in its mouth. It really looks like an eldritch horror.
Some of the sequences were super dope! Good job.
Amazing work with this animation.
Your version of Remnant is even more nightmarish and impressive than in canon. Seriously, I wouldn't want to be born in this world of bloody evolution.
On another note, the choreography of the characters was fairly well executed.
And their Semblances and weapons are amazing, especially when they work together in synergy!
By the way, that shot of the shattered part of the moon facing the camera on this blood-red sky was beautiful.
All in all, great job!
It feels more like the after effects of a Bad ending where in Salem won honestly.
@@mikedanielespeja6128 Now that you mention it yeah it kinda does.
Brrr... Scary thought.
If that's how Salem winning would look like I'd GTFO of Remnant. The moon looks like a good place to settle down, what with its pieces floating around it could make for a nice resort. Beats living amongst such monsters... 😅
@@Fyr365 If Salem won, Remnant wouldn't exist, cause the twin gods would destroy it. Clearly canon endings beat fanon endings. =)
You wouldn’t want to be in this version of RWBY?
But let’s be honest, this world actually makes Huntsmen and Huntresses look badass, Grimm are terrifying, weapons have better designs, semblances are cooler and more.
Original Rwby has............uh................ yeah, not all of that I said above
This is grim territory, So, It has a lot of that dark stuff in it. The video description says it clearly.
This was legitimately skillfully made. The tone of the whole thing was nailed from the start, from the visuals to the sound to the character's expressions. The grimm designs are the best I've seen, and actually had me worried a few times like, were they going to manage to actually pick a teamate off? Also, none of the movements are awkward and distracting. Each character and monster move naturally and at many points in an interesting way. The fights are smooth and dynamic as well. This feels just like early RWBY.
My only criticism that I can think of is a common thing with fight scenes, including live action stuff. And it's that there are just as many or more finishing blows than setup strikes or whiffed/missed/blocked attacks. One way to make the finishing blows on an enemy more satisfying is to make the character earn it by landing a few setup strikes, throwing the enemy off balance and vulnerable to the more flashy finishing strike. Or maybe have many of the character's attacks be blocked or missed, forcing them to adjust within seconds in order to get a good hit in. This would probably shrink the number of grimm in the fight, but I think it would allow you to get more creative in the way each one dies by the hand of the heroes. Making for some more drawn out, flashy choreography with a totally BA finish for each enemy.
You're really good at this. :)
This is legitimately some of the best fanmade RWBY content I've ever seen for two big reasons aside from the solid animation:
1. Grimm are a threat that actually caused injury to people on camera! 2. Actual teamwork from the characters and Grimm!

I just. Wow.
There’s literally no words. The Grimm were absolutely TERRIFYING, it gave me goosebumps. All of your characters look so amazing, and they’re fighting styles are all so unique and just *chef’s kiss.*
The atmosphere was something that completely threw me off guard. RWBY is all sunshine and rainbows, and I LIKE IT this way. It shows how horrifying the Grimm really are, and it doesn’t make them look like something you would go into without taking it seriously. Just every single move had meaning and absolute mastery.
Now, when the girl in red, (sorry, this is my first video, I think her name is Dawn) got grabbed, I just kind of pulled my legs into my body and hoped that she would be okay. It gave me genuine CONCERN. That was so good. I have never seen this character, and when her aura broke, I was just trying to stay calm.
Absolutely wonderful job. You will get absolutely no complaints.
The fact that theirs not a lot of sound and no music and no characters talking really sets the tone for the atmosphere your trying to convey.
It’s all very well done!
This is incredible! Making a 10-minute sequence engaging without any dialogue is really challenging, but you nailed it! There was some great visual storytelling going on, great job!
The only flaw I can see here is that there are a lot of slow moments in the fight. Like, moments in between moves where characters are just looking, or hovering, about to throw a weapon, about to dodge, etc. They hold poses _just_ longer than they should, which slows down the pacing. The fight at 5:07 is the best one (in my opinion) because the character is always in motion, and every action leads directly into the next.
Modern RWBY has this problem too at times. It was especially prominent in V4-5 fight scenes, but also shows up in ORNJ vs Neo and the fight in V8C3.
But yeah, that's the only thing that struck me, otherwise this is amazing!
Another cool thing about that shot is that it doesn't cut, which is awesome
I love the Nightmare Grimm. After seeing the Dragon in V3, I was in awe of the ideas for what could be done with colossal monsters in RWBY, especially seeing as the Dragon wasn't beaten by conventional weapons (as conventional as "everything is a gun" can be); while the Leviathan felt like a Godzilla knock-off, the Diet Dragon in V4 that Blake and Sun fight felt lackluster, and Monstra just...kinda floated there, this one hits different. Especially with actually maiming a main character. I watched the grab (she'll be fine), legs taut (okay, unnerving, where's the save?) And then the snap (oh! Oh no!) It's rare to see heroes dropped like that, with the rare exceptions of the finale to V3, and the fact that this happened in the first chapter of this team sets a great tone, sets great stakes, and sends a message that these aren't fake-out fights. Grimm are scary. Grimm are monsters. The heroes are fighting to survive, not just walk through Mountain Glen. Bravo!
Landing sequence was a great touch. Raith's Iron Man landing and and Ash's Semblance assisted flip-kick are awesome to see, I'm "beholding" their entrance. And Krimson's very simple "thump" is a nice little button on the moment.
I noticed that 3/4 of the team have animal elements in their gear: Raith has his spooky cloak, Ash has a spidery motif but the skirt of her dress has a feathery quality, and Dawn has a shawl that evokes animal fur, along with her tail and "ears". Maybe putting something like a wolf cloak/pelt on Krimson, one shoulder or both, could help the grey pop him out a bit, and give him some personality. He feels like the tank of the team; dress him up with some bear fur, make him feel big. I really love the new touches to Ash and Dawn, just honing those those looks to razor's edge, great stuff, and the geometry on Raith is dope. I also like how his Dust interaction leaves a mark, that effect on his face and armor is great.
Only thing that kinda bugs me is that some of the Grimm designs tend to deviate from the "classic" look. The spiny boys are exclusively red and black, and I can't see them. The boney protrusions on Grimm is iconic, and would really help the designs stand out, both so they don't get lost in the background mid fight, and so we could appreciate how genuinely good and scary they are, because they're great. If it were somehow a story element that these Grimm are boneless, that could work, but even then, unless they're gonna be stealthing, it feels like an over-reliance on the palette is obscuring your PHENOMENAL monster design. Seriously, these designs genuine monster movie/bedtime story levels of "I'm afraid of turning the lights off until exactly before I leave the room" levels of monster. Absolutely great.
Your fight choreography is magnificent. Great balance of flow and weight, setup of teamwork feels natural and fluid, and the camera movement! Hooo! It's like butter. And don't think I don't see those little face animations, and how you do that speaking with Dawn's tail. Great work with the body language, letting your animation do the talking.
Great work, and as the Senate would say, we will watch your career with great interest
Fantastic work! The choregraphy is absolutely awesome. The use of semblances and weapons to create unique movement was wonderfully done, especially regarding Ash. Overall, your motion is very fluid and natural-feeling. Some of the movements had a tendency to feel a little floaty, but it never really took me out of the scene and kinda gave it a unique animation style which is really cool. The details on the clothing makes them really feel ingrained in and part of the world, matching the detailed Grimm. The use of sound effects helped make impacts more impactful (no pun intended) and your more rigid and dense sound effects were really well used (like the rock sounds and the breaking and crackling noises). Your facial expressions were quite lovely as well. They felt natural and real. Your non-combative movements also felt more natural, with more unique character fidgets that help distinguish that character's style of moving around.
As far as criticisms go, Raith's head/hood feels a little squashed down. Hoods are a bit bulkier than one first notices as they sit atop the character's neck, head, and hair and must cover all that. Stylizing and sizing them can be difficult so I give many kudos for your current progress. Also, I felt that Krimson's outfit and Raith's hood lacked detailing as noticeable as the others'. The hood gets detail in Raith's power mode, but at some angles his head area lacks dimension when in non power mode. Working with a dominantly black design can make it a bit more difficult to resolve that given outlines for detailing are usually black, so I completely understand why it's like this. Krimson's details seem hard to notice possibly due to color allocation or the details' sizing. For these to be the only issues I noticed, I give absolutely massive applause as it serves as a testament to your impressive skill and even more impressive rate of growth.
The only other things I would think to work on are adding more minor effects (like a brief slash trail during a quick sword swipe or some sort of effect showing recoil from a powerful throw) and furthering the use of varying movement speed to convey force (like making the wind up to a punch slower with more frames and the actual punch quicker with fewer frames and then ending the movement with an additional frame of the final pose to emphasize the weight of the punch as if the force is still moving through them, just like in real life). Try to gauge how potent a strike is and add frames to the "wind up" and final pose to communicate it.
You make absolutely amazing progress in fascinating time, so many congratulations! Please remember to take care of yourself and not push yourself too hard. Your work is phenomenal and you're doing great. I wish you best of luck on all your endeavors. :]
I am seriously falling in love with your characters! I want to write a fanfiction about them so bad! Please continue with your work!
Y'know, Raith might tear through Grimm with brutal efficiency, but something tells me he's a surprisingly nice person despite the menacing appearance.
Very interesting sequence of events. A homunculus grimm and nightmarish grimm working together. Some subtle redesign/add features really nice touch. But the fight had me on the edge of my seat, the nightmare grimm releasing a fog that dampens sound and low visibility makes it a monster. All in all great work!
The guy in black is that one person in every DnD game who rolls a self-insert edgelord OC in a party of average joes and cheerful animal people. I can just imagine him brooding in the most conveniently dark corner of every tavern they enter.

Amazing work you’ve done, mate. Each animation you put out shows improvement over the last and this one is no exception.
Everything about this is really well done, from the fluidity of the character’s motion to the horrifying Grimm designs. If I might make one criticism, it is only that the blows do not seem to convey quite the sense of weight I would expect, but overall it is only a minor fault.
Simply awesome, and I honestly can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
I like the concept of the glaive breaking at the end. I don't think a weapon has ever failed like that in the actual show and it would be very interesting to see some of the characters react to the weapon they've trained their whole life with being shattered in battle.
Nice animations overall and great grim concepts. Some of the characters may have a bit "busy" outfits to mix with typical rwby characters, but nothing wrong with that when it's your creation :)
You should try to make this into a short series or how ever long you want because it would be cool to see that. Btw keep up the good work, this is absolutely beautiful and creepy and i thought you were an expert animator thats how good it is, if there is a way to support you, i want to.

I've been following you since the beginning, and you get better with each animation! I love how clear you made each members movements and attacks. Your grim design are very gross, I mean that in good way, like your improving. Your cinematography is really great as well. The only critiques I have so far is that stuff can happen a little too fast, like I had to go back a bit to figure out Ash's hair got cut. The sounds of impact could be turned down a little. I'm curious behind the lore of your character. Does Dawn activate her semblance when her eyes change color or it that something else? Since her weapon broke, are you gonna design new weapons then? Does Raith have a face lol? He's my favorite btw. Great job!
Naw, the sound of the impacts and gunshots is awesome! You can feel the power behind them
I felt like the pace was a little too slow.
I think Raith has silver eyes
This is the very first time I stumble into this series and I already like it quite a bit. I like even the lesser grimm's design and how they now feel grotesque. Also the characterization in their fall, I could roughly tell the role each character has in this, but I specially like how everyone is so flashy with their semblances and agility but my man in red tanks a lethal fall just because he's built different. Fascinating.
No matter what the species of Grimm there’s always an alpha for everything
Monty Oum would be proud!!! The action and the darkness are on another level and, even though we didn't ear them say anything, team DARK showed more personality and character than RWBY in the entire volumes, not to mention skill and teamwork!!!!!
Thanks for the upload. There’s been a lot of improvement in your work. Keep going
I dig the animation, and the wordless story-telling. You explained the abilities without any spoken words, which is something the actual show rarely does. The good ol' "show don't tell", no need for the a lecture by an expert or a robot to analyze the semblance. Nah, just glowing eyes and nods of agreement.
And watching the first trailer you put out and then comparing it to this... It's like night and day. You want from what looked like a Unity terrain with slow animations to properly conveying the force of attacks with the sound and camera angles. During the first few trailers the strikes had little to no sound, and the animation was so slow it seemed like they were weak. But not from gripping the weapons/dust making sound to the strikes and the slashes, it's such a leap in skill.
And I must say, you truly have some horrifying Grimm designs. They're properly scary. It was the best quality of your first few trailers and despite your growth, it has stayed one of the better parts of it. You've shown tremendous improvements since you first put your work out here. If you're keeping this up you'll surpass RWBY's current animation quality in a year or two.
I was wondering why there wasn't any music at first but honestly - it's better without. The sheer creepiness and terror inspired by this is fantastic with just the sounds of the fight. It's all the characters would hear, after all.
It's impressive how weighty yet dynamic the characters feel and the tension was conveyed very well.
Applause for the greatest improvement in your animation. The fight choreography was amazing and so was the dynamic camera shots. I actually want to see more of them.
The spider Grimm (or Nightmare, if that is what its name was) was the standout of the episode. Beautifully horrifying and something straight out of a cosmic horror author's nightmares (heh). Raith appealed to me on a personal level, as his aesthetic is exactly my kind of edgelord, in that he seems to be one of those rare breeds of edgelord that actually cares about people, which is entirely my jam.
Keep up the fantastic work.
I like how Krimson's semblance is basically Armor Lock from Halo Reach.
You did an amazing job with this. I did like Krimson's design from his trailer more than this one. The armor with the shield/gun with the axe/mace was a really incredible idea and design. His new one isn't bad mind you, I just think it was interesting to have a heavy tank like that.
ABANDON ALL HOPE FOR ALL YE WHOM ENTER HERE
THUS BEYOND THIS POINT THERE IS NO RETURN..
ONLY FORWARDS WILL YOU GO
ONLY DREAD AWAITS YOU..
doom8589 fitting, very fitting.
This... is how RWBY fighting the Grimm should be. Well done, my friend.
You’re really improving on your animation skills. Great job.
This is actually so well done
I don't know if the lack of voices was a stylistic choice or a lack of voice actors, but it honestly doesn't matter because the amount of show-don't-telling in this more than makes up for it. This is the first video of yours I've seen but I already feel like I have a good grasp of who these characters are, how they work together, and what their abilities are. All that without anyone needing to monologue to the camera.
Kudos to you man, and I hope for many more after this.
Alright, so I need at least 5 more seasons please because this was honestly really intriguing
Oh shit this is great man I really love the art style and tone. I feel that it flushes out the world as well as grim in a way that the main show doesn’t. I personally can’t wait for a part two
I love it. The atmosphere and monster designs are chilling, the visual story telling is excellent, and you have a surprising amount of communication between characters that are all unvoiced.
I was kind of disappointed you didn't keep Krimson's previous armor, weapons and hair though. His fighting style still matches up better with the axe/mace and shield/BFG than it does with the katana too. Honestly, I think you'd be doing him better if you thought of him as a cross of Yatsuhashi and Cardin. A fighting "style" that depends mostly on brute force until you bring their semblance into it and an implied brash promise that it's all he'll ever need, like Cardin, implies an extreme confidence that is only backed up by his "landing strategy" being no more complicated than "land". This could be extremely entertaining to see in a focus character if he was also then a genuinely kind and supportive person, like Yatsu. Instead of being a borderline neurotically stubborn idiot, he could be the stabilizing presence of the team. A rock with whom the others can orient their more acrobatic styles so team moves still land.
And opening up the back of Dawn's armor was very much a downgrade. On the other hand, leaning into the sensual design of Ashe's outfit is excellent character development and more understandable than the first outfit.
While Raith's design is of course excellent, and somebody has to be the strongest member of the team anyway, you need to ease up a bit on the throttle with the guy. He needs to leave some of the Epic for the others to take advantage of or it feels less like a Team and more of a Raith and Back-up Dancers situation.
Of course a lot of my complaints come off the back of watching The Judgemental Critter's reviews of your work as well, but I agree with basically all of her points. You still have a journey ahead of you to perfect your craft, but you also have the time to walk it and you are progressing faster than we could have ever imagined. I look forward eagerly to what you put out in the future.
RWBY taking Berserk influences is just an inherently good idea, and I always saw fanimations like these more in line to Monty Oum's vision of what he would've likely developed the series into, relative to what we ended up getting, post-death. I do really love all the small details, including how all of them (But Raith) simutaneously waking up with similar reactions of shock, implies that they all had the same dream, if not similar nightmares. RWBY was always at its best without dialogue.
You honest to god sold the idea you would kill ash on the first episode. I am in love!!!
And probably the happiest thing about it is that I have wanted to see a weapon that functions like Palutana's Bow from Kid Icarus (sorry if this goes over your head). And Dawn's weapon design and functionality between teammates is better than I could have ever dreamed of designing!!
I want to write a whole essay about just 10 minutes of details like the nightmare at the beginning (why isnt she moving? whats happening? oh my god?!?)
basically thanks!! :)
Let me try to put into words just how fucking good this is....
RWBY has an entire team dedicated to drawing and animating their works and yet you, by yourself, have managed to do what they did... but better. Yout weapon designs are amazing and really unique, I love the character designs and the diversity they have with there designs. I know that when you get the chance to have voice acting for these stories it will be nearly as, if not just as, good as RWBY.
And I know many before have stated it, but let me tell you, the designs for the grimm are absolutely fucking terrifying and wonderful. They are such cool looking designs and when I first saw them I was worried about getting nightmares. I am in love with how the team interactions seem so sincere even though we only see their interactions in short intervals. Raith is obviously the adult/leader of the group from the way he motions others to push forwards.
I also like how their trailers show other members of the team helping and that they aren't already these overpowered pros.
The only qualms I have are the lack of voices, the slightly stiff movements of the animation, and the way the battles happen so fast, but I know that's due to the lack of funds/time needed to put all that into these short side projects. I know that this is totally worth waiting a year for each video and can't wait to see more of this. I am truly impressed.
Keep up the wonderful work
Very well done on the animation!! I like the costume changes for Dawn and Ash, Raith looks cool, though I am curious about the white\wind dust and why it affects Raith in such a way as spidering on his body.
What happened to Krimson's usual amour colour palette? Where are the rest of Krimson's weapons? I thought Dawn's weapon would last longer, but nice breakage effect.
Well Krimson is considered to be a Jack Of All Trades type. So maybe he brought what he might have needed for this mission.
@@eliasochoa8880 Interesting, the last video I saw of him, he had a shield and a mace. If I remember correctly he had his shield collapsed on he left arm.
Though I kinda though he be carrying all weapons, don’t want get stuck in a pinch without a certain gear. But I can bring only what you need, don’t overburdened yourself.
Looking at all your stuff this looks awesome!
The horrifying atmosphere is as if this DARK Chapter take place after RWBY had a bad ending or something and the world's in chaos.
Dude in blacks design kinda reminds me of Spawn. Also the Grimm designs are fucking awesome!
This gave me a flavor of nervousness I've never had before. You don't really get a feeling for the menacing nature of the grimm in RWBY but that was strong in this animation. It felt like they got lucky this time more than any plot armor.
Dang. When he pulled out Those dust crystals. It made me realize how much Miss them. It's like discovering RWBY and watching the Trailers all over again. well done. 👏👏👏
How often is dust used besides weiss(unless she isn't either)and bullets in the new season because I haven't seen it and I feel like rt might forget about dust even though it's supposedly what turned the tide against grimm not aura
@@Bladerunner5146 have you seen the light dust and gravity dust?
No I guess not
Man these Grimm and background designs are spooky. Nice work.👍
you did an astounding job by the way Raxacory I said you have a talent for a dark story telling : )
albeit some dialogue may have helped a bit I did overall that ominous "Dead Space" feel something the original source material seems to be lacking frankly.. I think the Rooster team forgot the "Horror" aspect to their own show, which YOU nailed with spades.
I Gotta ask though what's up with Raith? Does IT have a face or a gender for that matter?
Also A Dust shard of that size would cost a fortune, is Raith absurdly rich or something, that one shard would bankrupt most people.. are those Dust shards re-useable? Honestly I was horrified I thought that daddy long legged Grimm broke Ash's neck.. I have to admit three things one I love the dark tone & background, two I love this Team their awesomeness. and 3 I love the creepy originality of your Grimm designs and that eerie shattered blood moon..
Now this is what i am looking for in this fandom, unique takes on Monty's concept, none of this shipping war crap. Unique characters, unique setting and enemies that look like they were rip straight out of a nightmare. WHY IS THE FANBASE SO HOOKED UP ON SHIPPING CHARACTERS AND NOT THIS AWESOME SHIT RIGHT HERE.
RWBY: dead space edition
CIAROSCURO
yo that spider like grim that had the claws in his eyes is THE best and most horrifying creature ive ever seen made involving the rwby universe i could legit see this as what the area around the grim pool should be like with grim just like those honestly amazing job this could be so canon in the rwby universe in my eyes
I LOVE THIS!!! Something about the lack of any talking makes this a lot more engaging and let’s you suck in the atmosphere and tension. Actions certainly speak louder than words.
You've come such a long way from your first trailer! Great job! I love your Grimm designs!
Wow absolutely stunning! This gave me chills all throughout and I love it! The fighting was very creative and fun. You should feel proud of yourselves, you did an excellent job. Also dawn is bae lol
Thats kind of teamwork i like to see in team. Helping each other out, lending wepon, brilliant.
Ok its only rare that I clicked so fast on a notification, is it worth it ? YES!!!
Also didnt expected to see another video from this channel
Also the part where the grimms ran away so fucking fast gave me goosebumps and a shiver down my spin like no joke
This is quite the interesting take on RWBY. It really is incredible to see how your animation has developed from the first trailer to now, and I hope you'll keep going and evolving from here! As many have said, I have to give props to the monster designs, for how aggressively nightmarish they are, especially the spiderlike one. Maybe a little bit overwrought, but I think it works. :P
The lack of music and voice acting was a choice that pays off well too, allowing for the eerie atmosphere to really seep in, and I also like that you didn't hold back on letting the protagonists struggle and be injured - though I have to wonder how they'll get out of this, being down a pair of legs and a weapon already. On a similar note, I do like how much character most of them had even without dialogue, though I do feel Krimson fell a bit short in that department. (I think Dawn would have to be my favorite of the bunch, with Ash and Raith also being pretty enjoyable)
As someone who actually likes normal RWBY, I'm not interested in comparing this to that or saying one is better than the other - rather, I want to say I really like how this has carved out it's own niche, as a more grimdark and horror-oriented take on the concept. I would definitely love to see more of this, and where it may go from here!
I'm just going to say this right now if Raxacory took their Grimm designs and teamed up with Mark Zhang and Tommylau for their ability to make fast pace fight and human choreography I'm pretty sure the combination of those three would topple Rooster teeth monopoly on Rwby
YES.
Through the first half of the video I was like "hmm, somethings missing... the animations great, no voicelines but that's not the problem..." Then it clicked, there wasn't the iconic rock music in the background when the awesome fights were happening. Who knew something so simple could have such a big effect.
