They were shit cars. Take this from someone from Eastern Europe. I had a lot of experience with those cars. They're all shit. The newer model Ladas are basically 1980s technology in 1990s body sold in 2019. So idk what you're on about. The only people who believe you are Americans who have no idea about actual russian cars. They were always garbage compared to for example German or Japanese cars. They might start after 6 months underwater while a fuel injected engine wouldn't, but that doesn't mean it's a good car, it only means primitive technology.... This Lada for example was still produced with a carburator while every other car used fuel injection which is a much more efficient system... That's what people don't get about russian cars, they were never good or reliable, they were just so behind in technology there was fewer things to go wrong in them compared to other cars of the time... Tell me one genuine aspect where a Russian car was OBJECTIVELY better than a German or Japanese car EVER... You can't

Hey now! I have a 1995 Ford f-150 that hit an elk at 65 mph or roughly 104 kph spun on the ice rolled 5 1/2 times until it splashed into the frozen lake, pulled it out a month into that following spring. Took it home drained the water replaced the plugs, oil, airfilter, and battery. That 351w fired up ran at a steady idle for 10 minutes until we shut it off due to overheating cause the wreck took out the radiator. Built Ford tough Haha. But still this was an awesome video and brought back some strangely good memories
My buddy's parents bought a Lada back around 1980 and it had some pretty cool options and it was tough but at idle the oil light would come on. They had it in and out of the dealer a few times but finally just sold it. Interesting video!

we had a Lada Samara for about a year, it was the 1600 version. it flew along and never missed a beat, we even overtook BMW & Mercedes & Audi cars on a motorway for fun.. we bought it as it had its fresh years MOT test certificate so, we sold it for scrap after a year, but really was a solid fun car.
*Those old Lada's/VAZ like the Samara, 2101 until 2107 and the Niva are the best cars ever made!* They are bulletproof and cheap! It's a shame that AvtoVAZ nowadays doesn't pass the EU safety and emission regulations that well. You can only buy the Urban (previously called the Niva) and Vesta in Germany and Austria. All the other western European countries charger heavy taxes because of the emissions. In Germany, you can buy an 2019 4x4 Lada (niva) Urban for €15.799! The same car in the Netherlands costs around €50.000 because of taxes!
@@OlujaDoTokija The Dutch government knows everything about how to earn money on cars and really charges big bucks for cars that put out to much Co2. If you import a car for the EU. You still have to pay "BPM". BPM is based on the age of the car, emissions and (new) value. It's going to be cheaper than buying one here but still way to expensive for a Lada Niva. Buying a old one (around 9 years old or older) would be a cheaper option. In Germany they cost around €4000 and the Bpm after the age of 9 years is very low. But that way you don't have a new car...
Holy hell! Lada stopped importing in France in the last 3 years due to dirt low sales, but the last Niva (simply Lada 4*4 here after the renaming) wad sold for 11 000€. I think it was due to Lada being the only car seller in France to offer LPG-equipped cars available immediately (you can get other brand with LPG, but never out of the seller, you always have to wait several weeks to get your car equipped).
If you wanted to pull the intake, you could remove those lifters and soak them in Marvel Mystery Oil, ATF, etc. and probably rejuvenate them. Back in the day, my friend Buster had a `54 Rocket 88 that would run consistent low 14s with a tune-up, good leaded fuel, and an AFB 4-barrel carb....that car surprised a lot of people
I like Lada Niva 4x4, i did drive one of them for a day in the terrain, they are great :) A friends friend did tune up ordinary old square Lada's from i guess mid or late 70's perhaps and put Fiat Abbarth motors in them if im not remembering wrong, they did fly. I dont know if they did modifications to do that. A friend had a old purple ordinary Lada station wagon with one inch larger wheels in the rear. I think they got alot of rust and got bad reputation becourse of that, perhaps they didnt get as good rust prevention as other cars, i dont know, but mechanically and engine wise i think they was good.
Yes except the Ovlov would probably survive being crushed by the ice too due to it's rock-solid body shell. (Source - I own a 1982 244, and the steel is easily twice the thickness of any other car. It's as though the damn thing was hewn from a solid boulder of Volvonium by Thor himself).
Currently working on a 109 IIa Land Rover that stood up to it's roof in the north sea for a long day. New battery and fluids and it still works hard today. Old school tech lasts... also, Lada is not that bad of a brand in my books.
No. No. No. It can be either the car or the plumber who fixes you. Remember to ask whether it is in the morning or afternoon you can go pick up your Lada in 10 years, because the plumber comes on the same day.
I purchased a new Lada Samara in 1996, a few days after collection I had an Rac inspection carried out , all 4 tyres , were faulty , it had rust in six places on the bodywork, and an oil leak. it spent 4 days in the dealers body shop and 3 days in the work shop for repairs , apparently because Lada did not sell many Samaras it had been stored in an open field for months , which explained the rubbish condition. great shame , heater in winter was brilliant

You can't
egykilenckilenchet it was better as it was a Russian and you don't fuck with the Russian and their hot steaming chicks or putin. Same with any Eastern European. Pussiehole Northerners and their chaved up Citroen Saxo and rusty ford KAs bruv

I have just discovered this channel. It’s great. The narrator is great.
In America, you underwater the car.
In Soviet Russia, the car underwater you.
No power to run compressor to fill tank back up i bet...he would have used all the air filling the boat up.

what Soviet Russia? You would have written then that the Communist Russia.
Enjoyed that. Keep up the great work. Thanks, from the UK
I had an American made car took it to a car wash and now it needs a new engine.
thats bullshit but none te less u tried
i had a japanese car once..it rained one day ...now the car is junk

You guys are crazy. Keep up the good work.
I had a Niva here in Canada. Best 4x4 I had. I miss it. Tough Lil Lada !
Owned and sold a couple of Ladas, though basic is the word! The 4wds actually used to sell ok. But only if they were very cheap.
My buddy's parents bought a Lada back around 1980 and it had some pretty cool options and it was tough but at idle the oil light would come on. They had it in and out of the dealer a few times but finally just sold it. Interesting video!
It would be a different story if it was left on the shore of the ocean. Salt water spray from waves is corrosive like acid.
Nice job guys. From Indiana.
That looked like a LADA work.
a LADA damage
You guys are AMAZING!!! Great experiment...thanks for sharing this!!! Love it!!!
That's not fair! It's lada- of course it will start!
It's not American made or it would never start again.;
Actually any engine would have started after pumping water out and putting oil in. I mean it's just an air pump
@@susieq9801 besides everyone knows that anything built in Russia is inferior to its American counterpart.. I mean just look at Russian airliners. What a fucking joke

Just found your channel and love the videos so far I have seen. You guys seem like you would be so much fun to hang out with.
No one noticed he changed the oil right next to the lake without a pan 💀😂😂 only in Russia
to be fair water was already in there with the oil, which means that oil got out already too :P
They drained the oil before putting it in the lake.
he did not change the oil, he removed the water and added oil.
Is it russien ther is english translation ower it so i cen hear what is he tolkeng
And if you think thet is crazy go tu balkans trust me
You guys are fantastic. I love it. Unbelievable, Bravo!
Lada never dies.
I had a Lada 4x4 back in the 80s. Primitive and rough but could handle ANYTHING. I miss it 😊
Next challenge: Start a lada after 6 months in capitalist country ..........!!!
It won't work
What car?
Good luck finding it.
I works in my country xD
aterack833 Lada is a car
The best oil change i´ve ever seen !
Greetings from Austria
"it starts and runs"
no, it starts and stalls
Next time could you get something running well enough, to drive it around! Love Ladas. It'd be cool to see it spend time under ground water something. And drive at afterwords
That’s incredible that the ice smashed the roof down.
You ever drop a chunk of ice on you toe? Ice has a lot of gravity.
I LOVE THESE GUY'S !!! If you need a good mechanic I think you just found them. :)
You've got a giant air compressor and you use the foot pump to inflate the boat?

It is a Lada ... it will start for sure.
In all of your videos I can see Ladas are pretty good cars! You have sent us some export crap here on Balkan 😂😂
So I will have to get to Russia to get an RDM one!
Did you Put some vodka on that lada? that explains everything 🤣
Awesome much love for the Lada good job Garage54
Try to start the RENAULT car sunk with the Titanic :-)))
No problem. When do want it done?
That sounds like fun
we had a Lada Samara for about a year, it was the 1600 version. it flew along and never missed a beat, we even overtook BMW & Mercedes & Audi cars on a motorway for fun.. we bought it as it had its fresh years MOT test certificate so, we sold it for scrap after a year, but really was a solid fun car.
Only a Toyota Corolla could do the same.
Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, the only cars that you can throw everything at them and still run 😂
Old Volvos too btw
scotty kilmer approved
Only if its the older ones with the simpler electronics.

As long as they keep making videos like this I don't care who they make our president.

Love the experiments these guys do👍🏻👍🏻
*Those old Lada's/VAZ like the Samara, 2101 until 2107 and the Niva are the best cars ever made!* They are bulletproof and cheap!
Can you import it from Germany for cheap, or do you still have to pay the extra in Netherlads because of the regulations?
New Lada Niva in Serbia is 10 000 euros
If you wanted to pull the intake, you could remove those lifters and soak them in Marvel Mystery Oil, ATF, etc. and probably rejuvenate them. Back in the day, my friend Buster had a `54 Rocket 88 that would run consistent low 14s with a tune-up, good leaded fuel, and an AFB 4-barrel carb....that car surprised a lot of people
Time to stick it up on ebay and see how many roubles we can get!
I like Lada Niva 4x4, i did drive one of them for a day in the terrain, they are great :)
A friends friend did tune up ordinary old square Lada's from i guess mid or late 70's perhaps and put Fiat Abbarth motors in them if im not remembering wrong, they did fly.
I quess you could do this to a Volvo 240 as well. Volvo's B230A engines are bulletproof
Just because crappy volvos start after 6 years of sitting dosent mean they are bulletproof
@@nedkogenov5530 oh yes, they are...
@@lassediscovers1813 And what is so bullet proof? Just because it dosent rust easily dosent mean its a tank.
@@nedkogenov5530 just joking with you... Relax.
Currently working on a 109 IIa Land Rover that stood up to it's roof in the north sea for a long day. New battery and fluids and it still works hard today. Old school tech lasts... also, Lada is not that bad of a brand in my books.
In Mother Russia, Cars fix you.
No. No. No. It can be either the car or the plumber who fixes you. Remember to ask whether it is in the morning or afternoon you can go pick up your Lada in 10 years, because the plumber comes on the same day.

Lada Wins Fatality!
Awesome. Runs as good as a NEW Lada now ;)
Was probably less harsh on the car compared to being outside during winter.
" who says ladas are rubbish" IDK anyone who has ever owned or driven one?
Always end up with the roof caved in. Perhaps a good idea to support the roof with some steel tubing in the next experiment :D
LOL
I would like to see this one reviewd in deeper water and use seafoam bevore drowning the car.
Love your work!!

My wife phoned me just before the show, and she said,
"I've got water in the carburetor." I said, "where's the car?" She said, "in the river.".

Gotta love carburetors. I used to fix my morning cold starts by shoving a bic pen down my carb. Good times.
