Time indeed flies and it’s amazing how old an iPhone X looks, but it’d be too early to drop an iPhone X as this device was the biggest big thing just recently!
Apple might drop support for the iPhone X and XR because of the older Apple chip sets

If iOS 17 is a stability update like iOS 12 was, I think all iOS 16 supported devices will get iOS 17. If iOS 17 is a feature packed update, then I think iPhone X and 8 series will get cut. But you never know with Apple lol.

Considering that they cut the iPhone 7 off early last year and how powerful the A11 chip still is it’s a pretty safe bet the iPhone X and 8 series will get iOS 17 maybe even iOS 18.

No i dont think that iPhone 8 will get any update.
I think they will last to iOS 18. The iPhone 6s lasted 7 years so it’s only fair newer devices last as long or even longer than that.
However, the a11 and has the checkm8 hardware exploit which means that there will always be a jailbreak, which I’m pretty sure apple wouldn’t be too hesitant to drop support for it

I’m hopeful that the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X will get iOS 17.. the 6s had a seven year run which is literally unheard of and I’m so proud of Apple for continuing long support and longevity for their products it really gives them that timeless feeling design… however, I am not so sure that iOS 18 will be given to those 2017 iphones.. it’s probably safe to assume that iOS 17 may be the last version for the A11 Bionic powered devices..
I hope they get ios 18 cause thats still a great phone!
I think iPhone 8 will get the IOS 17, they are just eliminated 2 phones, and both of them was capped with 4K@30 video recording, but iPhone 8 is capable to record in 60fps, there was a significant performance jump between 7 and 8.

@@Pea-G only the 4k resolution depends on the camera hardware, the amount of frames what it is can calculate (fps) is depends on the CPU/GPU performance, and based on that the current models are in a higher tier like the last abandoned phones.
I think the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 Series will both get iOS 17 because iOS 17 is rumored to be more of a stable release like iOS 12 so it might not have as much features but it gets supported on more devices.

I was still stuck with an iPhone 3GS when iOS 7 dropped! When I told my Mom I needed a new iPhone, she told me I didn’t, seeing as she doesn’t understand tech as well as I do! It took a bit of negotiation and although I couldn’t afford a 5S or even a 5C, I was VERY lucky to get an iPhone 5 on clearance! My iPhone XS broke last year and all I could do in getting a temp phone was borrow an iPhone 7 Plus from a friend, which didn’t get iOS 16! Then again, maybe I should count my blessings, I hear iOS 16 was buggy at launch and by the time I got my iPhone 14 Pro in October, some fixes had arrived!

I think so too, I like the new features they included on iOS 16. However, the update is a mess, it is laggy and has lots of bugs...hopefully iOS 17 will fix that

I am still running an old IOS as haven’t really had money to upgrade my phone yet. I am still on IOS 15 and using the Iphone 7 Plus. I been enjoying phone still in 2023 and it’s good!
I believe you are correct! I do agree with your predictions for iOS 17. I sure would like to see a video about iPadOS support. Should my parents upgrade to the iPhone 14 or wait until the iPhone 15? Both of them have iPhone eight models.
Honestly, they should just get the 13 series because, they are still Solid phones and, they will most likely get to iOS 20 before Apple drops them out of support.

If iOS 17 going to be anything Iike iOS 12 in terms of slight changes and just performance improvement, then iPhones with A11 Bionic and newer should be supported.
I think iOS 17 is gonna be more like a feature update not a big one since what I consider Big Updates are iOS 7, iOS 10, iOS 11, iOS 13 and iOS 16. What I consider feature updates are iOS 12, iOS 8 and the loved and famous iOS 6
Around the iOS 16.5 release the final supported devices list for iOS 17 obviously the eight any iPad made around the age of the eight.
iPads with the A9 chip same as iPhone 6s got 16. In the very least they could’ve supported the 7 series. Anything that got iOS 16 will get iOS 17
Considering that IOS 17 will most likely be a polishing update for the mess apple created with IOS 16 I’d all IOS 16 supported devices will definitely get iOS 17 as apple just simply cannot leave any device on IOS 16 with how bad of a mess it is. All of these devices are perfectly capable it’s just apple isn’t doing as good as they could with keeping IOS optimized and it’s most likely due to them prioritizing “RealityOS” over other software. Which I hope will change this year.

The iPhone 8 and up will likely get iOS 16. The iPhone 8 and up have a neural engine, so they should be more than powerful to handle iOS 17.

All the iOS 15 devices will continue to be supported, as apple also allows people to stay on iOS 15 if they like the older iOS experience, or iOS 16 as the “new radical change”. That’s why when iOS 16 final first came out, 15.7 came out at the same time.

iPhone X and iPhone 8 had same A11 bionic.. So will drop them same time just like dropped iPhone SE (1st Gen) that launched on 2016 mid but had same A9 as 6S 2015 late was dropped for iOS 16.
You don’t need to upgrade this year. A 13 pro max to this day is fine and it will get iOS 17

They will give iOS 17 to the XR, but I don't think they will keep supporting the XR after iOS 18

@@nishuboi2009 maybe 2 or 3, but I don’t think it will be more than that, most apps require iOS 13, which was released 3.5 years ago. iPhones that got stuck with iOS 12 or lower are almost obsolete now

My XR is dying at IOS16 it now run out of battery after 1 hour. I changed the battery last year.
My XR is fine on iOS 16, I’ve had it for 2 years and the battery lasts a while considering the fact that it’s battery is the original

Unfortunately not; I’ve tried unsuccessfully to update an old SE first gen to iOS 16 but betas do not work.
8 and 10 could be dropped considering what happened to iphone 7 on ios 16 and 6s was just a very special case
