It originally opened 1 hour away from me as Superman at Six Flags Ohio. Then when Cedar Fair bought the park this ride was renamed Steel Venom which the ride shut down in i believe 2006 shortly before with the park closing as Geauga Lake in 2007.
This ride is THE BOMB! so I've been on this ride before but I was scared to go on it again. Waiting in line, I regreted going on it. But, I got on it, it finished, I WANTED TO GO ON IT AGAIN! Then I ended up going on it like 3750752373520753- times.
I remember seeing this coaster when it was Superman: Ultimate Escape at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. Then it was Steel Venom when they changed it back to Geauga Lake. I'd love to travel to Dorney Park to ride this again.
This ride first opened at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure as Superman: Ultimate Escape. When the lease for the park was sold to Cedar Fair, it was renamed Geauga Lake and the ride was renamed Steel Venom. When the the dry park of Geauga Lake closed, it was relocated to Dorney Park where it was named VooDoo. However, two identical rides were also built. One at one of Dorneys sister parks, ValleyFair, which is known as Steel Venom, and one at Six Flags Great America named Vertical Velocity. Two similar but not identical rides were also built. Wicked Twister at Cedar Point and the other Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Out of the 5, Wicked Twister is often considered the best, and Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to me is the most unique. Steel Venom (ValleyFair), Vertical Velocity (Six Flags Great America), and Possessed (Dorney Park) are all identical, but Steel Venom is the only model that still operates the holding break.
Only one model of this ride still operates the holding brake and that's Steel Venom at ValleyFair. Both V2 models and Possessed don't operate them anymore
This last operated at Geauga Lake originally as Superman Ultimate escape then when Cedar Fair purchased the park they renamed it Steel Venom like the one at Valley Fair.
Everyone complaining how dorney is like cedar point cedar point is the same company as dorney they own about 9 or more amusement parks same rides just different I love it here at dorney thinking about cedar next summer
I went to Dorney Park last month with my mom and my sister. This was the second time we went on this ride. My sister was screaming but I wasn’t. It was fun because it literally launches you up.
CoasterForce do you know the best day to go to a theme park? We may to six flags St Louis for memories of when we were little but that is quite far away. We have been thinking of this park or Sf St Louis so any ideas for either?
In my own opinion, this ride should have been called Stinger instead of that ride next to it because the twisted end, especially on a POV, looks kind of like the stinging tail of a scorpion.
Patrick Keown There is only one on the West Coast. It's called V2 Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. However, due to height restrictions the spiral isn't vertical (ironic, right?). We posted off-ride and on-ride POV videos of it on our channel: ruclips.net/video/QZTWVzcq9Io/видео.html ruclips.net/video/tMRUvshgq7c/видео.html
+Justin it's supposed to bend. Believe you want it to bend. Just like in a earthquake the worst place to be is in a concrete structure. The bending is used as a shock absorber. It didn't bend our sway then it would tear itself apart
lol i know the feel i was suppose to get on this ride yesturday but chicken out at the get..however i did get on steel force and that was it for the me it change my lufe forever i was terrified as heck
no it was a ride at gueaga lake in pennsylvania that closed down. that is where night hawk was that is now in kings island and dominator which is at kings dominion.
+Ryan Andricsak You know that Six Flags Worlds of Adventure is the same park as Geauga Lake? Six Flags sold the lease back to Cedar Fair before it closed
Incorrect. Dorney is way, way, way smaller, with 5 major thrill coasters, plus a few flat rides. Just because they have one similar ride doesn't mean the parks are similar...
Except this one has a holding brake on the second time you go backwards. And if you're talking about the one in Discovery Kingdom, the spiral tower on this one isn't slanted.
Jared Andell Six Flags Great America is my local park. V2 has the holding brake, but it broke and they never bothered to fix it. I always wondered what the ride would be like if the brake actually worked. I might be moving to PA soon, so I guess I'll find out what it's like.
This one is the most original installment. Opened as the Superman Ultimate Escape 1 year before both V2s and Screaming Condor, then Wicked Twister 2 years later, and finally Steel Venom 3 years later.
You do realize that there aren't that many roller coaster companies and designs get recycled and reused, right? There are duplicate coasters all over the country.
They took off the brake on the second time they go straight down
Matthew Fishman yes because last year or so (I forget exactly when) it broke down when it did that brake. That’s probably why they got rid of it
@@baudilior.1513 Wrong, fried by a lightning strike a year or two ago. Since then too costly to repair/replace it so they went without it.
Maine Eastern 764 oh, probably mixed with another, thnx 👌
This is by far my favorite ride I have ever been on!
It originally opened 1 hour away from me as Superman at Six Flags Ohio. Then when Cedar Fair bought the park this ride was renamed Steel Venom which the ride shut down in i believe 2006 shortly before with the park closing as Geauga Lake in 2007.
This is such a great ride! I loved riding it!
It was called Steel Venom at Geuga Lake Park, I believe...
This ride is THE BOMB! so I've been on this ride before but I was scared to go on it again. Waiting in line, I regreted going on it. But, I got on it, it finished, I WANTED TO GO ON IT AGAIN! Then I ended up going on it like 3750752373520753- times.
I got on this ride thinking it wasn't going to be that bad
It was worse than what I imagined
Sharkbait Same my stepmom made me ride it with her and the drops and the launch 😖
It wasn’t that bad-,
I remember seeing this coaster when it was Superman: Ultimate Escape at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. Then it was Steel Venom when they changed it back to Geauga Lake. I'd love to travel to Dorney Park to ride this again.
I went on this ride yesterday and it's my favorite ride so far
This ride first opened at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure as Superman: Ultimate Escape. Does it hurt when the ride stops on the second time going up (holding brake) cause V2 at Discovery Kingdom doesn't do that anymore
Scott Coleman no not at all its very subtle and not paintful at all, the least painful part of the ride
Thanks
Only one model of this ride still operates the holding brake and that's Steel Venom at ValleyFair. Both V2 models and Possessed don't operate them anymore
Just 1-2 years ago when I went it still had the brake. I'm assuming its a very recent change?
It's 2017 and it doesn't brake anymore
Considering how I went on plenty of amusement park rides during my kid years, this one went pretty quick. Still had fun though.
Love how it stops up the top
This last operated at Geauga Lake originally as Superman Ultimate escape then when Cedar Fair purchased the park they renamed it Steel Venom like the one at Valley Fair.
Everyone complaining how dorney is like cedar point cedar point is the same company as dorney they own about 9 or more amusement parks same rides just different I love it here at dorney thinking about cedar next summer
Chelsea H that is not true
Got on this ride today. The takeoff made my adrenaline go crazy lol. But, in the end I enjoyed it. 🙂
I went to Dorney Park last month with my mom and my sister. This was the second time we went on this ride. My sister was screaming but I wasn’t. It was fun because it literally launches you up.
Tht was very very scary at first but I overcome my fears tho😱😨🎢
Remeber
I rode this 14 times in one day! Love this ride and Dorney! My next time up to New a York I will be visiting.
It's similar to Wicked Twister at Cedar Point, except this one only spirals at one end, not two. Looks like a fun ride though.
Quick question ... this is +guyshalowery but anyway can I bring a phone on the ride .. if I had a book bag where would i put it
Looks GREAT,
I've been on Dorney Park every day I have the season passes
I work at dorney park)
CoasterForce do you know the best day to go to a theme park? We may to six flags St Louis for memories of when we were little but that is quite far away. We have been thinking of this park or Sf St Louis so any ideas for either?
Why doesn’t it brake anymore? I miss that
it came from Geauga Lake were it was called Superman Ultimate Escape and later after cedar fair boughrt park it name was changed to Steel Venom
We have the exact same ride in Minnesota at valley fair
I went on that ride and it was so good!
It looks like a modern day sea dragon.. lol. I’m going to try it next month.
Philadelphia Chan Brothers
My favorite part is being on the straight hill for a little hold at the end. But it hurts my chest.
i love this ride :)
So that means you guys went in April of 2012 Correct?
@Coasterforce What month, day and year did you guys go to Dorney Park when you filmed this?
We're pretty sure EastCoasterGeneral filmed it the same day as he filmed the Stinger videos he posted on this channel.
never been on a rollercoaster before probably cause i get Nauseous when i hang upside down and get very dizzy too.
In my own opinion, this ride should have been called Stinger instead of that ride next to it because the twisted end, especially on a POV, looks kind of like the stinging tail of a scorpion.
Is there another copy of this coaster anywhere else? Like on the west coast anywhere?
Patrick Keown There is only one on the West Coast. It's called V2 Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. However, due to height restrictions the spiral isn't vertical (ironic, right?). We posted off-ride and on-ride POV videos of it on our channel: ruclips.net/video/QZTWVzcq9Io/видео.html

V2 (SFGAm) and Steel Venom (ValleyFair) are identical to this ride. ValleyFair is in Shokapee MN and SFGAm is near Chicago
don't forget wicked twister at cedar point!
Steel Venom valleyfair
yea there is but possed is a version of Superman return of......at six flags great adventure
There is one identical to this called Wicked Twister- Cedar Point , Sandusky OH
Its not identical. Wicked twister has two spirals this one has only one
Looks like Wicked Twister from CP
This Ride Is So Awesome ! But Idk What All The Hype Was About This Ride. It Gives You That Feeling A Little In Your Stomach And You Just Feel Wind.
I got on this and I SCREAMED MY LUNGS OUT!!😂😂
You were at Dorney today!?
Dorney Park opens May 2nd for the 2014 season.
***** Well I figured, but when did you film this?
Kenyan Festival
We're pretty sure EastCoasterGeneral filmed it the same day as he filmed the Stinger videos he posted on this channel.
So cool
I can’t remember how loud I screamed on this
This was the only major roller coaster I've even been on. I will never go on one again
DedKat why?
DedKat Missing out BIG TIME my guy. Sad life.
Been there ! Shit crazy
half of the train kinda gets jyped. it doesnt get to go as high on the twist
You could loose your head on that ride!
I much prefer The Bucket of 🩸 Blood?
🕯️🕯️🕯️
Dorney park possessed the last launch in June 9th Thursday 2033
It's still open
United States FIFA World Cup 2022
I’m Going To Dorney Park Because We Can Go With Sydney On Sep 5
Nice 💓💖
Wicked at cedar point
This ride looks just like steel venom at valley fair!
It is.
It literally is. They moved it to this park.
Did anyone else see the track bend the second time it came back or was it just me?
When you go back up the second time, it breaks and then releases, you can actually hear the magnets "scream" when they do it.
Konan yeah I know ive been on it. but you can see it bend lol
+Justin it's supposed to bend. Believe you want it to bend. Just like in a earthquake the worst place to be is in a concrete structure. The bending is used as a shock absorber. It didn't bend our sway then it would tear itself apart
BartK Coasters Why? Can you give an explanation?
I remember my first time riding this , fucked my life up that day lol
lol i know the feel i was suppose to get on this ride yesturday but chicken out at the get..however i did get on steel force and that was it for the me it change my lufe forever i was terrified as heck
Lawrence Coore the steel force had my mouth wide opened the whole time 😂😂 the possessed caught me off guard my first time on there
Erica Asjaee well all i can say its my first and my last lol

this ride was so boring XD
Holding brake isn’t functional anymore
It was fun lol
Holy shit I would crap my pants
my sister went on that ride like 5 times
This is the V2 and six flags great America.,,
I love this ride
Just looking at it makes me wanna throw up
Got on it 9 timea
It was some Superman Ride at SF: WOA
no it was a ride at gueaga lake in pennsylvania that closed down. that is where night hawk was that is now in kings island and dominator which is at kings dominion.
+Ryan Andricsak You know that Six Flags Worlds of Adventure is the same park as Geauga Lake? Six Flags sold the lease back to Cedar Fair before it closed
+GhostJerk 12 it was superman ultimate escape and then steel venom after cedar fair took over six flags worlds of adventure or geauga lake
It's wayyy faster than it looks..
Is this ride scary ????????
It terrified me when I got on it
they are gonna be sick after that
No they won't ride Kingda Ka
Dorney park is almost like cedar point in Ohio.
Incorrect. Dorney is way, way, way smaller, with 5 major thrill coasters, plus a few flat rides. Just because they have one similar ride doesn't mean the parks are similar...
Dorney is NOTHING like Cedar Point
TwinTailedGamer I agree 100%
Cedar Point is 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% better than Dorney Park. I went here and I got bored after an hour.
Jan Bryle Declaro they're owned by the same companies
Wow it's the v2 (copied)
Except this one has a holding brake on the second time you go backwards. And if you're talking about the one in Discovery Kingdom, the spiral tower on this one isn't slanted.
Jared Andell Six Flags Great America is my local park. V2 has the holding brake, but it broke and they never bothered to fix it. I always wondered what the ride would be like if the brake actually worked. I might be moving to PA soon, so I guess I'll find out what it's like.
HamperedKnave2 It's really fun with the holding brake.
This one is the most original installment. Opened as the Superman Ultimate Escape 1 year before both V2s and Screaming Condor, then Wicked Twister 2 years later, and finally Steel Venom 3 years later.
It's more better at Knott's bery farm
Tony Sanchez what is
Possibly true, but don't forget KBF is on the other side of the country in California. Dorney is in Pennsylvania... lol
Can't think of any ride more boring other than going back and forth.
+Dutchy this ride isn't scary at all. I've ridden kingda ka too and that's not scary either lol
Dutchy ok calm down lmao
Once you try it you will have a different opinion 😅
This is basically the v2 (Vertical Velocity) at Six Flags Great America..seriously!?
You do realize that there aren't that many roller coaster companies and designs get recycled and reused, right? There are duplicate coasters all over the country.
I'm convinced Hydra is the last good coaster Dorney is going to get. This thing is lame
NickStone68 talon?
First of all this coaster is actually scary af. It's very simple but don't let that fool you.
