Rougarou off-ride HD Cedar Point

- It originally opened in 1996 as Mantis, the tallest, longest and fastest B&M (Bolliger & Mabillard) stand-up coaster in the world, but for the 2015 season it was converted into a floorless coaster and given a new name as well as a new paint scheme. Did you know that Rougarou is a werewolf-like creature in French folklore?
Cedar Point, also known as "America's Roller Coast", is located in Sandusky, Ohio.

The roar of Rougarou and Raptor is RIDICULOUS!
Ride so underrated..transitions are so natural and fluent...hvnt been on since new trains...I never did understand why anyone would want to stand up on a rollercoaster
You can literally hear Raptor's and Rougarou's roar. Outside of the park.
alan vang love the sound of Raptor! 1 of my favorite roller coasters of all time.
Ross Best They dampened Raptor sadly. B&Ms are much better when they roar. I don't know why Cedar Point decided to dampen it.
@@RodknockRhett Yeah the roar is what b&m’s known for
Got to ride this 5 times in a row!
I feel bad for you
+CrazyCham Why?
The roar from this ride is amazing and it never gets old
"Floorless Coaster 1 looks too intense for me."
Floorless Coaster 1 is a really good value!"
GTAUploadr y'all should have actually named your rides!
@@Scorpion_23 HAHAHAHAHA i just got done playing this game
@@Scorpion_23 this use to be the mantis which was a standing coaster
Looks awesome! Probably one of the most underrated coasters at CP
@Nitronic to much head banging
Rode this twice the other day and had an absolute blast!! So glad Cedar Point made the floorless conversion. 90's B&M's are the best and this is how you keep them alive
Love this ride so much, glad they did this conversion!
I don't know how you like this, it just plain hurts
Only a matter Of time Cedar Fair will Scrap This Even B&M’s eventually Fall In disrepair
Great off ride! The roar was pretty loud!!!
Smart choice for Cedar Point :) Still kinda shaky, but it is more tolerable now, and more smoother, and is now a great ride :)
Not What I hear I seen Someone call it rougarough LOL Glad i skipped it i see i didn’t miss anything
i absolutely reccomend this one, it was my first big coaster andthe firstdrop is breath tsking and the rest is so nice!
Rougarou and Kumba have the best B&M roar in my opinion
+Joe Coaster I would add The Hulk to the last too!
+Joe Coaster
They're two of the bst B&M coasters in general, too!
Especially going into the loop on this.
Nemesis at Alton Towers has an amazing roar!
I would also add Raptor and Afterburn to that list
That is the loudest coaster ever. Even louder than Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa and Jokers Jinx at Six Flags America. I could've sworn it was quieter when it was Mantis.
they should make it stand up again and build a floorless coaster bc cedar point needs atleast one of everything right
Heck no. Stand up coasters hurt your body.
Only if you try to sit on them. STAND. UP. The bicycle seat isn't there to support your weight.
Allison Vandenberg rougarou lol
Stand up coasters are pretty much dead......no one likes riding them anymore so there is no point in building more. Stands up we’re unique at the time....but they simply are just outdated. But Georgia Scorcher and Riddlers Revenge are a few good stand up coasters.
Allison Vandenberg a roller coaster where your feet aren’t touching anything and are dangling over the track. rougarou is a floorless coaster look at the riders feet
This was my first upside down ride. My big brother made me go on it, its my favorite ride
Have you ridden it when it used to be a stand up coaster Mantis?
It's kinda sucks and it headbanging and when I got off it, my head was hurting for like 20 min 🤕🤕🤕
The roar is awesome
I'm glad that most newer coasters have moved away from the mid track brake runs. _(excluding dive coasters)_
Funny Story: About 4-5 years ago, there was this Standup Ride called "Mantis" before it was Rougarou, and when I was at the queuing line with my friend, I expect it to be a B&M Floorless coaster, and Im fine with those, then as soon as I got on the train, I was like "why are the seats so tiny" and I kept on trying to sit down on it, then my friend revealed it was a standup coaster, which made me very oblivious, because I love to sit down on rides, and Im never used to those crazy coasters like that one back then. When I got to the top, I was so frightened that I had to stand on that ride, and after the ride, I thought standups were okay, my legs were achy due to my short height, nowadays, its a B&M Floorless Coaster known to be Rougarou, and I thought Mantis wasn't a Standup for all along, which I thought it was Floorless, but now what has it turned into? XD
all Those Myths about It Crushing your Nuts Is false If seats are adjusted Right Shouldn’t Never happen,,,and also if worried about Headbanging Standing Up Easily Neutralized standing up Use Floor to advantage Hold harness Down up Top
Yeah Floorless coasters are disappearing. So they should of redone Mantis a bit cause like I said this coaster compared to Mantis. Is SHIT!
WTF DID YOU JUST SAY?
This coaster is Mantis....the layout is still the exact same, the coaster is now repainted, and it was transformed into a floorless coaster. So Mantis is still in the park.
When I went on it there was this Chinese lady and she was like "HAVE FUN ON ROGUROOOOOOO" and "HOW WAS YOUR RIDE?"
02:48 Grandpa ride rougarou lol
im so glad i got to ride this as mantis only once though D: and the only standup rollercoaster ive ridden
In the original promo for Rougarou, you could here the sound of a wolf howling as they were showing the name of the ride. It would've been cool if they had the wolf noise go off as you go over the top of the life hill, much like how Banshee at Kings Island makes that screaming banshee noise at the top of it's life hill.
my first upside down coaster. rode this a month ago and someone ended up loosing their phone on the drop I felt so bad for them. this is a great coaster lol rough on your head but still fun
I have a lot of trouble deciding between this and Raptor. On one hand, Raptor has much less head-banging and is a bit smoother overall, plus I have a big soft spot for it as it was my first ever Cedar Point coaster I’ve been on. However, I prefer the overall layout of Rougarou, and I personally don’t find the head-banging to be an issue if I just keep my head back, and I actually find that the inversions for this are smoother, meanwhile Raptor can have some pretty sudden and jerky inversions from my experience. Plus, I’ve never gotten stuck on Rougarou for 10 minutes, which I sadly can’t say for the Raptor lol.
This ride was very smooth for me up until that last corkscrew. My ears hurt for a good 10 minutes after! Fun ride though. It has a great sound.
This rides really rough for shorter riders :( I remember my head ping-ponging between either side of the head rest
Nah I’m decently tall and it still hurt
OK, I am willing to ride this but is it scary at all because I never tried it.
Jayy B you have probably already rode it but no it’s not scary at all
I've not been on this ride since it was stand-up coaster but it looks hella dope as a floorless. I am wondering why they didn't just keep the name 'Mantis'????
Sure, This ride was half smooth and half rough, No big deal, The loop was massive.
the experience in your feet in this ride is just like the experience in raptor but it almosts touches the track
I rode this twice, it wasn’t scary at all and was so fun. Although I banged my head several times which made the headache I had even worse☹️
At least you didn’t ride it when it was Mantis...a stand up coaster
I'm still hesitant to ride it, to many bad memories of Mantis.
About the description, we say "Loup-garou" in french, not Rougarou haha ("loup" meaning wolf)
My very first roller coaster. 7/31/19
I heard this coaster is rough. Is that true?
roanmang Kind of. Just put your head back in the seat and it's fine
nah its ok just push your head back
So what's really the difference in this and mantis?
Ross Best Mantis has Stand-Up trains, here you sit down
godly roar
Rougarou was alright, but I miss Mantis. Cedar Point needs to make another standup roller coaster! I feel like there are barely any left #CP
Stand up coasters are not manufactured anymore. No company wants them because they suck, and because they didn’t have a lot of ridership. They were also extremely uncomfortable and not tolerable as they provide extreme head banging and crotch pain. No company will ever buy a stand up coaster again. Also stand ups were so 1995...
More like Rougarough
Omnisis Keep your head forward. If you know how to ride it, it’s smooth and intense
Kärnan Fanboy thanks for the advice. Ill remember that next time I go
Omnisis Ya welcome. I only rode it once more to the back row
The roar is messing with the camera sound
i passed out like 3 times on this ride :/ was fun tho LMAO
I’m someone who gets nervous while riding coasters has any rode it and thoughts?
it´s nothing special but it´s smooth and fun
I rode this way back in the day (1998) when it was still Mantis and loved it then! I rode it last year (2019) as Rougarou and it didn't leave a lasting impression. I've typically very nervous about riding any rides, but I wouldn't be nervous to ride this one again. Now Valraven is another story. It left a lasting impression and makes me nervous sweat just thinking about it.
Melissa Lee Okay that makes me feel better thank you for writing back:)
Everything after the break run is a copy paste of Iron Wolf (the banking was refined on this coaster)
Lol well this used to be a stand up coaster.
It's kinda a head banger but it's still fun
I'm tall enough for every ride at Cedar point except for the raptor and the rougarou
I grayed out on this roller coaster
This was my least favorite ride aside from the corkscrew. You wanna talk about a rough ride..my head was banging from side to side the entire time! Ouch!!
Krystal Dearman If you don’t know how to ride it, it can be a little bumpy. My ride was perfectly smooth
Is anyone aloud to film off ride videos or do you need permission?
We always get permission just to make sure the parks know what we're doing, but you can usually film as long as you remain in common areas.
+CoasterForce ok thanks
Look at how fast it goes through that brake run, wouldn't that cause injuries if it actually had to stop at it?
+AmericanThrillride I never said there shouldn't be a brake run there.
This ride is so incredibly painful. I hit my head on the restraints during a roll or a loop and I had a headache afterward. Feels bad man.
When it was the Mantis, it was damn painful to ride, especially for men.
+Luis Cat Have you ridden a bike? Imagine riding a bike seat while standing and having g forces in multiple directions. At some point those straddle seats are going to punch our balls.
+KrakatoaCoo. Exactly, punch your balls and make your legs feel like all the blood in your body is in each leg and each leg feels like it ways 150 pounds. Damn physics lol.
+darklion53 ever ride a togo stand up coaster named shockwave @ kings dominion ? combine the undesirable ride characteristics of the mean streak & mantis then multiply it by 3 i got the crap beat out of me when i rode it
I am a man and I feel the complete opposite because rougarou hurts and mantis was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better
people didn’t ride Them Right Bend your knees Slightly before seats Lock For your row when ur row locks stand The Rest Way Up
Am I the only one who liked it better as a standing?
yes
:'(
+ReviewEchUSA lol
No
I loved it standing
Sounds like a friggin jet engine 💀
Coaster force plz respond to this comment how do you record on rollercoasters do you sneak the camera on the ride or do you have a special permission? I just really want to know.
+Jeffery Jones We get permission to film on rides from the park.
+CoasterForce ok thx but sorry to bother you but how did you get the permission I'm going to Sixflags Magic Mountain I just want to also know how you get the permission
Jeffery Jones We contact the park management beforehand to get permission and arrange a time and date to film. However, parks do not allow guests to film on rides so you have to work for a media outlet to get permission.
Who else passed out going on that
Is this even scary at all ?
It looks so slow... Idk I'm from Florida so I'm used to Universal
It really isn't that slow, it goes 60mph. Only 5mph slower than the hulk.
+Coaster Expert Idk about hulk but for me Rip Ride Rockit feels slow, although I guess it's because it's really smooth (the hulk is the only one I haven't ridden because I chickened out like a week before it closed for refurbishment so I never got a chance to, but thankfully later I got over my fear after riding Rip Ride Rockit)
Although after a bit of research Rip Ride Rockit is the same speed as hulk so I guess that's fast for anyone outside of Florida (assuming you are, if you live in Florida I guess I'm just used to it then because that's the coaster I faced my fear with and that's now my favorite)
+TheJGamerGirl Well, a couple questions: Slow compared to what? The Hulk? Sure, it's 5 mph slower. Not a huge difference.
Slow compared to other coasters at Cedar Point? Yes, because Cedar Point has 5 coasters that reach speeds over 70 mph and will open a 6th starting in May.
Here's a reference for you: Hulk Coaster was 67 mph. Rougarou is 60 mph. Dragon Challenge is 55 mph.
Rougarou is ranked 82nd in North America in terms of speed out of over 800 coasters.
Another thing to keep in mind is that video always seems slower than the actual ride. I can tell you that when you're on Rougarou, you feel the speed and the quick turns. Besides, it's a much smoother ride than the original Hulk layout was.
+Alex Bisel I'm comparing it to Rip Ride Rockit because I never actually got to ride hulk before it went into refurbishment and the ones at Universal and Disney are the only ones I've ridden in general because they're by where I live. I've never been to cedar point but it looks really fun :3
The roar is earrape
Rougarou > Raptor
😤
I agree!
Christian Charpia thanks 👍👍
Anyone else miss standing up??? Still a fun ride, but I liked the old version. :(
is this ride as bad as the magnum xl 200
Mantis was so much better. Rougarou's just plain boring, and sometimes very painful.
You seem to hold a minority opinion. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just saying.
+KHCoasterKid I do and it's sad, stand up coasters are fun!
+ThisIsBarc99 I've never actually been on one.
+KHCoasterKid I have only been on one and it was Vortex at carowinds. I didn't find that one to be that bad to be honest.
OMG I KNOW RIGHT
Mantis was better
Thank goodness they got rid of those stupid stand up cars.
rougaroux is the best in my opinion
Earrape
This ride compared to Mantis... Is SHIT!
THIS RIDE IS NOT GREAT
Myles Gelóneck why?!
@@Yasin_2312 just not comfortable, I dont like the over shoulder restraint on it. Now gate keeper, that's great
Lol at least it’s better than when it was Mantis, a stand up coaster.
This is terrible, so much headbanging it almost gave me a concussion.
I love the roar on this and raptor
