In regards to the case, you’re right that they don’t hold a lot of value , however, the fact that the 2 removable “Accessories “ boxes are included and are in good condition increases the case value, as those boxes tend to be missing! . Those boxes themselves can command a nice price on the secondary market. Great find overall! Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your channel!
Thank you for showing all the finds. I love the trunk and that ponytail doll looks great. Would love to see how the fashion queen girl cleans up if you have success with that. Good luck! 😊
It took me 18 years to get what you have concerning vintage barbies & kens. it looks like you've only been collecting for a couple of years. You're certainly lucky! PS I like "Jimmy" the best!🐶
I just love your videos and eventhough I have been collecting for a long time I still learn something I didn't know from your videos. Oh I am sure you know to always check behind the accessory drawers in vintage cases as treasures can get trapped there, ( I know someone that found the rare mini compact that only came with Roman Holiday ensemble stuck back there ) You have to remove it from the adhesive backing Anyway keep up the good work !
Cool find didn't know mercari had vintage need to check it out. One thing sometimes the seller will have a head but no body or a body no head then they'll come across a body or a head and thus a Frankenstein is born.
Her face does look like a #6 to me, but they typically had softer makeup and coral lips. If it is a #5, that would match the Barbie only body. It is also possible that someone could have switched the head at sometime. Nice haul in any case.
Great purchase! I think you have a #5 ponytail, who needs her hair restyled. It seems loose, making her face seem chubby. So I’d say a late #5(after the problematic greasy plastic).
Thanks for the tip! I think you are spot on that she’s a 5. I cleaned her up last night and gave her ponytail a hard curl -she turned out great. Definitely a stunner! I think the red swimsuit threw me off and made me think she was a 6, but the more I look at her all cleaned up now, she looks like a classic number 5.
Before using BF for the green ear clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. It should come off of the neck & neck knobs right away. I'm 100% sure the blonde Barbie PT is a #5. That red swimsuit is most likely from another doll. And luckily her face is matte! After collecting, researching & restoring old barbies & Kens for the past 18 years - I should know something! And Mattel made a black telephone for 60s barbies. It came with a 1962 PAK set.
That ponytail doll looks like a 1962 issue to me. I never go by body markings, because these dolls' heads are easily swapped onto other bodies, and it was encouraged by Mattel back in the days when heads with wigs were sold separately. I don't go in for the numbering system beyond 4/5, I always take my cues from the face screening and vinyl characteristics of 1961 and later ponytails. I would compare this doll to Bubblecuts, which are much easier to date based on how the hair fiber, colors and style changes from year to year. That screening looks more 1962 to me, and we are still using the Barbie only body that year, so it might be her original body. Plus, if this were a 1963 doll, she would be much less likely to have this hair and lip color combination in my opinion. Great doll though, I have one that looks a lot like it. 🥂 Those wire stands are both for Barbie. If they were Ken stands, they wouldn't fit Barbie, and they wouldn't be so tight on Ken.
I think you are spot on! I think seeing the red Helenca Swimnsuit threw me off a bit. After I got her cleaned up and hair restyled, she looks like a 5 to me as well. Her head was a bit squishy from storage which made her cheeks looks fuller to me, but she has that classic facial screeing of a 5 for sure. And yes, great point about the heads being switched up, espically with the release of those Fashion Queen heads. - Thanks for watching!
@@TheNostalgicToyArchive ,you have to remember that the red bathing suit was sold as a Pak item also. I had one with my Barbie clothes, and my first barbie was a 1967 TNT.
Think you did well with this purchase. Is the hair color of that ponytail Barbie the original color, or did it oxidize over the years? I'm not really a fan of that shade of blond, it's a little too vibrant for me! However, I'm sure you will make that doll look beautiful after you clean her up a bit. Good luck also, with removing that green ear from the Fashion Queen doll. If anyone can do it, you can! 👍
Thanks! I think her hair may have oxidized slightly, or it could naturally be more of a lemon-blonde shade. When I compare her to my 3s and 4s, their hair looks much less brassy overall. It might just be that the later ponytails were made with more vibrant hair colors.
She looks lika a #5. I don't think her face is so chubby and her lips are fuller than #6 would have. Anyway, I thought that both #5 and #6 are on a Barbie R body - with a difference considering face chubbiness (and swimsuit), and that #7 is on Midge T.M./1962 Barbie R body?
Thank you! Do you happen to know if Number 5 Barbies were only ever sold wearing the zebra-print swimsuits, or were some of the later ones also dressed in the red Helenca swimsuits?
I’d say maybe transitional but this is a difficult one. Body is definitely a 5, but face is throwing me off. I want to say a 5 but she’s not very narrow in the cheeks so maybe 6 head?
Right!? To me, she just doesn’t have the typical narrow facial structure of a 5. That’s why I was really leaning toward a No. 6. Sometimes, it’s just hard to tell!
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Great deal, Ian! I wait for the restoration videos. 😘
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Another great score❣️ The case appears to be in excellent condition. 😻 The Ponytail is a No. 6. The No. 7 Ponytails had the Midge/Barbie body.
Loving the vintage Barbies! (and Jimmy is so cute!). Thank you for sharing your new Barbie with us.
Thank you 🤗 Jimmy is camera shy lol
You r so lucky to collect so much nice cloth
Great find!! Also you are so handsome
Oh thank you! 😊
I loved seeing you open and discover the treasures in this trunk. Your new No.6 looks really nice. Congrats!❤
Thank you so much!
❤❤❤
Another great video! I always come away with a lot of useful information.
Glad to help! I have so much fun making them, thank you!
Love the Fashion Queen! Hoping we get a video of the restoration process! 😃 Ken as well.

You bring up a great point! Thanks for watching my channel :)
That's the exact same case that i have!
It's the only doll case that i actually utilize. It's really nice to handle and to look at.

Thank you so much! Yes, I usually get lucky and find a few shoes tucked away inside, haha!
I think the trophy is a cracker jack or similar item. I remember them from my childhood.
Wow, that's cool! Thank you for sharing that info.
She is a number 5

I’ve had good luck with removing green ears, with Re-movezit
I prefer the flocked hair to the sculpted hair to me it looks more realistic
Me too!

Shi is a no 5. Big lips. No 6 has smaller lips.
