    This pedal - the Marshall Bluesbreaker reissue - has been about the worst kept secret since MJ's.....Forget it. Anyway, here's how it sounds in front of a Mesa Boogie Mark 3 - one for the John Mayer fans I reckon?

    For someone who isn't a purist, the Duke of Tone seems like the perfect alternative. Super small, toggle to switch between boost, OD, and distortion. Two of those together take up less real estate than a king of tone too.

    I bought a Blues Breaker and a Drivemaster when they were first issued and thought they were quite good. Gave the Blues Breaker away to a friend of mine when they started to become in demand and he was jonesing for one.I've now got a Wampler Pantheon and a Fredric Blue Monarch and I do think that they are more useful.

    Man…it does sound good! I kinda thought the concept was a bit stupid at first too, considering all the recent reissues, but the more I hear it the more I like it. I got a used Browne Protein a while ago, mostly to try to find an ODR-1 circuit without the low end issues. The blue BB side sounds great some nights, but the extra drive and high end/mid scoop in it (as well as the increased headroom of a lot of recent BB variants) can make it sound a bit too strident in a lot of settings. Keeping this a true reissue - warts and all - was probably the right move!

    If i remember the original promos for this pedal, the purpose was to put a Bluesbreaker sound into whatever amp you played. It was a cool idea, but i don't think these really caught on because of the marketing back in the 90's. this pedal was way ahead of its time. I had a programable Korg ToneWorks 105od, also way ahead of its time. Also didn't really catch on.

    Easy to tell how well you're vibing with this pedal. Fantastic playing and sounds very similar maybe more "real" then some of your helix lead presets?

    This pedal has always been quiet. That's why Josh Scott made the JHS Morning Glory wich has become the industry standard of BBreaker type of pedals -Zack from Mythos said that last thing, not me…

      I owned a Morning Glory and Snouse Black Box at the same time. I ended up selling the Snouse. The Morning Glory has some sort of secret sauce to it. Gorgeous sounding pedal.

    • @asplashofcitrus
      @asplashofcitrus Год назад

      @@DrProgNerd I started w/ a MG and then got the Snouse because the MG robbed a majority of the low end from my silver sky when engaged (I imagine it would be better suited to something like a Les Paul or similar, something with more lower miss). Then I tried the Browne Carbon sight unseen and sold the Snouse; sounded a touch squishier and was less fussier. Haven't tried this BB reissue yet though

  • @StormJH1
    @StormJH1 Год назад

    Thanks for the demo! It's cool that they reissued this (and the other Marshall pedals). But this circuit has been done better, cheaper, and smaller by several other builders by now. Heck, the $50 Mooer Blues Crab is a pretty faithful clone at about 1/5 of the price and 1/3 of the size. The enclosure is unique and iconic, but it's all about sentiment. That's a pretty impractical thing to fit on a pedal board for something that most people will use as an "always on" effect for just one or two types of sounds.

    • @dannyllerenatv8635
      @dannyllerenatv8635 Год назад

      There are improved versions of this pedal out there. Sometimes, people just wind up going back to the original, including tube screamers which there is a myriad of clones out there for. I own several BB-type pedals including this one, and I can definitely say it puts a smile on my face when I kick it on.

    Very intrigued definitely want to try one of these out but my real question at the moment is… Why so big? In a world where everything is getting smaller… I mean now we have the stomp. Five years ago it would’ve been a pedal twice that big to do with that thing does… And I’ve got a bunch of the small footprint petals that are just super awesome and they have just as many controls as this thing does dot dot dot does my pedal board real estate mean nothing

    Less than £180 for a built the UK original spec pedal is a bargain.
    It is excellent quality and is exactly the same as the original. Only the jack sockets are made by a different manufacturer but to the same spec. If it was made in China then it could have been cheaper.
    I am a gigging musician and use the bluesbreaker and Govner (originals) and have bought both re issues. I could have bought Chinese or USA made pedals but I like the fact that Marshall have produced these exactly the same way as they did in the early 90's.
    I also want to support my countries economy NOT China or USA!!
