- I'd just like to say a big thanks to Matt for meeting up with us on this one and giving us a tour! Check out his channel for awesome videos I'm sure you guys will enjoy: / seakayakingthemovie
Me, my mum and dog set of on a weekend mini Urbex trip to England. We were pushed for time a bit as I had to get back for work on Monday, so only managed to get 3 places done.
This is the first location, an Abandoned Hospital. So much equipment has been left, it is an absolute waste and shamefull. The metal thieves have already been in stripping out the copper wires by the looks of it, so it won't be long before this awesome place is destroyed. Just as we were about to enter the mortuary, 2 men were already hanging about outside, who luckily were quite friendly chaps. We also bumped into 2 other explorers as we were leaving who again were quite friendly.
Once I upload the short individual videos of each place of the trip, I'll upload a longer episode to this channel, with the full road trip, with no music and add in the chat we had with the other people we met. It's hard to edit this and keep it short, as there is so much footage to go through!.
Next location: Abandoned Theme Park
My second channel for non music versions: / trespassergirl

I remember working there in 1989. A modern vibrant hospital. No need to close it. In 30 years of NHS service I know one common factor, money is burned uselessly by senior managers and the cuts are faced by the actual nurses.
This was a trip down memory lane for me. I did my nurse training at the DRI between 1985-1988.
Thank you for the walk through, I work as a Biomedical technician and saw lots of familiar medical devices lying in ruin, Colposcopes, Electrocardiographs, medical imaging equipment, Oscilloscopes and plaster saws. A small fortune in technology going to waste! I would loved to have an opportunity to explore such a place, thanks again for the upload and greetings from Australia!
***** Gday from another Aussie Biomed there mate. :)
RickFortune Gday to you! I thought that was an interesting video, especialy all the abandoned devices. Seems a pity for it all to get destroyed by vandals.
+rustymotor it's not even vandals that are the problem, it's the folk that go in and rip the building apart for copper piping etc as they can sell it on for a pretty penny. Therefore nature reclaims the buildings way quicker than it should! So sad
And folks that rip out copper wire are not vandels??? LMAO
Vandals as in people graffiting 👊
What a sin for that poor dog, walking on them floors, diseases and glass , shame on you
If there was any diseases there she wouldn't go
I totally agree!
People that need a hospital had better not go there, and find one that is not abandoned. Now like I said, poor dog!
And I wasn't meaning diseases. I meant the garbage, cause I have never seen a dog cut there foot or fall thought a floor.
You are sick, go away, ezzz9
Amazing! Thinking about the things before it was abondoned! Like people walking through the hallways, doctors using the equipment that are now just staying there unused. Fascinating!
Nice video and love the music. I have to echo the sentiment of others here about the waste of equipment. I can't believe much of it couldn't be cleaned and shipped to those countries in dire need or even to universities for training. It makes you weep.
I like the fact that the dog always has his little coat on!
This video deserves more views. In fact, all of your videos deserve more views. :) Thank you for doing this. I love watching these sorts of videos. :D
Like that a lot Tina. The mortuary was pretty big, shame the fridge doors were gone. It looked massive in there, England has some awesome sites. Cheers for the link, will check out the dude's vids. Look forward to seeing the rest of your trip :-)
It was quite a big mortuary! Biggest I've been in. Will be down to England again soon hopefully :-)
Thanks Tenz ,for the walk along.Hard to believe they left all that way spendy imaging gear go to waste. awesome as always!
disgusting and shameful of the nhs, so many hospitals crying out for equipement and they leave this to what,,, rot, they ought to rot themselves, shame on you, and guys really enjoyed the video, keep up the good work
Oh get a grip!!
You know, it's bad enough watching you drive on the left in regular speed but to see it sped up it is quite un-nerving. :) Great vid as always! Thanks!!!
Haha :P Sorry if it made you dizzy :) Thanks for watching!
again, Tina, always amazing, thanks my friend for the video.cheers.-Dave
Thanks Dave! Hope you enjoy the next video too :)
At my local hospital twenty years ago, the locals had to raise the money to pay for a CT Scanner, as the funding was refused. The locals raised the money and it was installed. Immediately Edwina Curry, then Health Minister was due to do the opening ceremony. Who arranged that, who knows? Not one staff member would pose with her, as the locals had done it all themselves. With no Government nor NHS funding.
When the hospital closed a few years ago, the hospital equipment was sold as a job lot to India - including the scanner. So therefore, to add insult to injury, the local Health Authority profited off the scanner the locals had to buy in the first place, as they refused to fund it.
Seems amazing there is so much equipment still there, tons of it and some of it looks pretty important/ valuable stuff.
It's crazy that they left all of that expensive equipment there, those microscopes alone are worth a pretty penny!
Yea there are expensive are the microscopes even second hand I study science
Brilliant video Tina, Can't wait for the abandoned theme park video
Thanks Nathan! I'm still editing the theme park, I've got so much footage! Will have it uploaded in a few days :-)
When I see all this equipment abandoned when it could be given or sold to poor hospitals in other countries ... imagine ... sell these devices for half price. ... Would help a sub-developped countries provide care to the poor and then it would reduce the cost of new materials in our hospitals ... we would do with one stone ... two shots.
As an example ... all the medical equipment that there could be such as electronics and other microscope, analytical equipment, stretchers and so on.
IS THAT THE GOVERNMENT STOP WASTE ESPECIALLY ONE THAT WE COST A FORTUNE WHEN THE TIME TO COME TO SEEK CARE ... SHARE AND SAVINGS.
Worked there for 8 years trying to keep the long corridors clean....Breaks my heart to see it like this...
Ulanbator Mongolia why did it close?
Great to see you venturing down South Teenzie, but don't stay too long we need you back in Scotland LoL,cracking vid,Hope you enjoy your trip.
Haha No worries, I'll be causing havoc back in Scotland again :P Had a good trip down though and hopefully do more soon :)
Full of HOPELESSLY OUTDATED equipment. This would not have been left if it could have been re purposed.
Great video. Love your posts. Agree it works best with music.
I work for the nhs and have for 20 odd years. In the last five i've seen six local hospitals close, three of which were bulldozed. One partially and two still stood empty. One went from a decent explore to a total hazardous wreck in under 6 months.
Thanks, glad you think so with the music :-) We're living in an over populated world, yet they keep closing places down, so it can only end in disaster. It seems places go downhill alot quicker when the pikeys get in and strip it out, letting all the dampness in! This place hasn't even had a chance to decay naturally yet!
One of the best UrbEx videos on RUclips
I always love your videos they're so awesome! :) But all that stuff just left behind and the place still clean...It boggles the mind
Thank you :-) I guess it wasn't up to todays standards so they just left it to rot! But they could have donated it to poor countries.
TeEnZiE part of the hospital is in use still. .so it isnt abandoned and u were trespassing. .
The main music in this is called Divergence, by TheBlackParrot
Great video, guys 👍
awesome video!
great again. good to see that you and mat finally got to meet....
*****
good..
It only took me 2 years lol Got there in the end :D
That's crazy !!!!! That's literally millions of $$$ in equipment !!!!! It's like they had 10 min. to get out.... And it makes think what else has been left behind that has already been picked through
Thats really a shame, the oxygen machines alone are worth 500 each new! Shame on them for abandoning such expensive equipment.
Awesome as always! There is a small fortune in that place. I repaired some of those machines as a young man. You would not believe what they cost.
Excellent vid- thanks once again! I hope the cellphone antennas on the roof at 7.24 were turned off, or you just copped a big dose of radio frequencies!
Thank you :) Hope they were turned off! Too late now... :P
worked as a Junior Doctor at the DRI over 20 years ago. 6 months - many memories, good and bad.
This is the old Derby Hospital. I've been there a number of times over the years. It's disgusting the amount of equipment that has been left behind to rot or be stolen or vandalized. All paid for by the NHS. All operations have now been moved to the new Derby Hospital apart from one out patient unit which is still in use.
Find it funny that we are almost neighbours here in Scotland and you travelled down to my birthplace for this video, viva the coincidence
Awesome vid m8y especially the end from the top of the tower, it was locked when we went. I got lost for a few minutes on me own aswell in the dark somewhere near the canteen, it was a bit scary lol. Cant wait to see where else you've been while ur down here....
Thanks! It was an awesome view up there! If I had a long enough rope, I would have abseiled off it lol! Will have the new video up in a few days :)
As a computer techie, I imagine some of that equipment was old, and therefore abandoned for that reason. The cost of recovering some it would be costly, and cheaper to buy brand new equipment. The advances in technology has a bad habit of making nice expensive equipment obsolete in a short period of time.
Amazing the things you find. Thanks for posting.
I bet that the little dog gets all excited everytime you put his coat on, thinking to himself "goody we're off out!" He'll jump in the car with his little tale going and watch out the window in eager anticipation as you drive along. Then, when the car stops and you open the hatch he'll jump out, take one look around and think to himself, "shit, another bloody old ruin!!"
No wonder the NHS is going to pot, all that equipment sitting going to waste that they could have sold to private hospitals to make them some money!
It depends when the hospital was abandoned. If it was quite recent then yes, the equipment could have been sold but medical equipment gets nasty stuff on and inside it quickly and its costs quite a bit to repair them. Also this equipment is probably outdated by quite a while, looks like its from the 80's from the size of the computers!
There was alot of medical records left in here aswell, but someone's moved them so didn't get to film them. NHS is a shambles!
Eoin Cuddy
Not all of it is outdated. But it gives the impression that nobody even made any attempt to see what could be used elsewhere. If nothing else, some of it could be recycled. I guess eventually it will all be scooped up and put in landfill. Shame on the NHS.
Eoin Cuddy
the computerd aren't from the 80. most of the crt monitors looks like from around 2000 or later.
Sadly, although it was a brilliant urbex at this site, it has now been flattened, all that remains are the two main towers at the front of the hospital site. 😨😳
The equipment should be donated to charity like belarus or similar.
That would be a good thing to do! :)
Not surprising that UK health system is going down the tubes. Talk about wasteful. All that equipment could have been sold.
It's so sad people smash them up there worth a lot off money people don't no there value or know how to use them I study biomedical sciences ect I did electronics engineering and programming studying medicine ect there old but worth lots off money
Must be strange going into a clean place for a change, eh? Ha ha. As soon as somewhere up here is shut, the young teams run amok with it. Good video Tina, keep it up doll?
This was a brilliant urbex. i went about 10 times and spent the whole day there and still didn't see it all. we always bumped into loads of other people doing the same thing so you never felt nervous. a cracking view from the tower and loads of stuff was still there. i live in Derby so it was convenient but it has been completely demolished now other than the two entrance buildings with the lead roofs. its being sold off for housing.
nice video, really feel sorry for such waste, there are people in world desperately need help and here lot of expensive stuff is rusting
I live in Ripley, a place about 30 minutes away from Derby and I have yet to explore this place
Can't wait to go there, just worried about seeing police, and as I'm young if they saw me they'd think I'd be up no good.
shows you how much govts really care about environments...and people
Yes the hospital is owned by the people and payed for by the people , us , you and me .
Brilliant video! Hope you do more - Aodhan
There is so much equipment just lying around and turning into waste... That's just sad.
Yes that is shameful. The unit at 05:00 is a Gould oscilloscope which I would have helped to make! Really interesting video.
I would be afraid to enter an abandoned hospital, for fear of why it was abandoned. We had a hospital here in Utah that was torn down because of the high rate of MRSA, but they took some of the equipment with them, so the new hospital did not solve the problem.
Our NHS hospitals here have MRSA even when there open, the amount of people who go in for a simple operation and come out with it is unreal! Mainly older people. Hospitals aren't what they used to be in that sense.
TeEnZie - I know what you mean. A hospital gave my Mother MRSA and it is a horrible way to die. :'(
Gail Fitches I may sound dumb for asking and I should probably google it, but what is MRSA? Sorry if it's a dumb question. I just thought it'd be better to ask someone, because google sometimes spazzes out on me and it gives me really random and irrelevant results. xD
HardcoreHamster33 MRSA is a staph infection. Methicillin Resistant Staphylcoccus Aureus. It's a antibiotic resistant bug. Get that in your hospital and it's a right pain in the butt to get rid of.
Sounds bloody horrible. Antibiotic resistant? That's terrible! I never imagined a bug that would be resistant to antibiotics. >.< Thanks for telling me, sorry for the dumb question. :)
its creeps me out in a weird way also upsets me as this equipment could be used in other countries
Bloody disgusting! Left for vandals and theft. Donate the equipment and reusable materials. Or auction it off would have been nicer.
This is England. Only the rich apply.
Typical :-(
A lot of the equipment will have been on hire, I have worked for a medical supply co. and stuff is always going missing. A contract will be signed by a department manager and then over years there are restructures and department changes staff changes and equipment gets moved, stored and then borrowed by other units. after a few years no one knows what equipment belongs to whom or who is responsible for maintainance. Ask any medical supplier the NHS is a black hole :-(
Shock and horrorfide at the condition that the d r I hospital has been left in it was a very good hospital and should never have been closed all that medical equipment should not have been left as the derby people paid for that and should be used for the benefit. Of the derby people in the town. Its a disgrace when the NHS who are suffering without adequate care its a slap in the face of all who died at the d r I and the good staff who worked there.
I literally live down the road from the DRI. (Derby royal infernary) it's a shame because they have knocked it down like a couple of weeks ago and I really wanted to see it. Thx for the vid :)
Millions using food banks, people living on the streets, the money could have been put to use if only the equipment had been sold off or used at another place this is shameful
Huge Hsp and still in Good Shape. Cool find ............
great vid. However makes me fume that NHS can just abandon this expensive equipment then bitch that they are underfunded!!
It may well have been stupid health and safety laws that prevented reuse of equipment for a whole variety of stupid reasons, wouldn't surprise me in the least so more a case of shame on health and safety police I reckon.
Great vid ☺ love exploring abandoned buildings !
too true , shame on them who then go on to tell us there must be cuts and we must save Great video
I bet your the sort that would also moan if they used broken equipment on you to evaluate your care 🤦♀️🙄
geat vid tina, are you sure its abandoned though. it looks just like my local nhs hospital,,best wishes
Lol, yeah it's abandoned! Hard to tell right enough :P
TeEnZiE, if you ever come to the US, you'd be in for a big surprise. There are dozens of abandoned hospitals in this country and it shows how wasteful the cities are. They leave everything behind. I mean everything. Patient records are left, millions of Pounds worth of computers, hospital beds, monitors, printers, etc. It goes on and on. And sometimes, they leave the lights on! And there is no security at all. The doors are left unlocked and even the grounds aren't surrounded by a chainlink fence. And people in the US wonder why their city has no money even after the "sheriff of Nottingham" is taxing everyone to death. This doesn't surprise me one bit. Just about the only thing they do is remove the bodies from the morgue. But then, sometimes they forget to do that too. And yes, it makes me really angry: so many other cities around the US need the equipment but they refuse to donate it and whine about the "cost" of shipping it. Then why do they keep opening up new hospitals instead of using these closed up hospitals that are in perfect shape. Government waste at its finest! Keep shooting more videos. I'm enjoying every one of them!!
largol33t1 PS: at least this hospital video shows that they tried to take some stuff with them. There was one video posted where the hospital I described had almost NOTHING removed. The vending machines were still running. Every waiting room had a coffee maker with two pots and there were even boxes and boxes of IV drip bags with the bags still inside! Even the radiology lab for cancer treatment had vials of medicine and radiology equipment left in the room! Unbelievable. The hospital was in Illinois but the person who took the video won't tell what city.
Thanks for video, greetings from Spain!!
I work at southend hospital, and we re crying out for equipment, and to see all this useable stuff just left, is disgracefull. Someone could have had it. The NHS needs all the help it can get right now, and being this wastefull does not help. It takes us so long to raise money to buy decent equipment. How many more hospitals like this are there ?
There is one on the south coast, closed approx 5 years ago and everything is still inside, even the beds are made up!
Haslar in Gosport just outside Portsmouth
I remember loads about this hospital lol I especially remember that long corridor at 3:47 because me and my brother use to run up and down it when we went to visit our Nana and Granny(Mum's mum and Dad's mum)
I'm surprised that most of the stuff has not been stolen yet, I went to a few abandoned places in my country and they even pulled the cables out of the walls...
It's probably quite remote.
***** Thanks for the info! Interesting. I went to a derelict asylum in Huddersfield that was very out of the way, but being guarded.
I seems a shame... I'm sure there are other things that could be done with the building!
merci pour la visite.. :-)
Nice exploration !! +1 sub ! :P
Very nice!
How long has this place been out of action? Wouldn't of thought a hospital was the kind of building to ever become obsolete
A lot of the equipment left is very outdated (even by 2014 standards) so would have no use in a modern clinical setting, even in a developing country some of it would be useless. For the equipment that still could be used, whist it would be lovely to donate it to a charity or a hospital elsewhere in the world, it's not unfortunately that easy. My department recently moved from reusable surgical instruments that are sterilised between uses, to single use, which are used once per patient then destroyed. We wanted to donate the instruments but the processes we had to go through just to do this for a handful of instruments was ridiculous! It was easier to either throw them away or sell them to a private healthcare provider :(
Amazing!
Firstly, Your videos are awesome! Secondly, how could they let all that equipment just fall apart like that?! I can't get over the enormous amount of unforgivable waste....
knew you were scottish right away, im scottish aswell and can never find a scottish youtuber... YES!! :)
Lel am scottish to :3
am scottish too!!!!
hahaha thats funny.
Omg I am scottish aswell lol
OMG, I'm NOT scottish! WHAT THE FUCK!!! pmsl...
Really nice !
Some nice microscopes there, no doubt microtomes too, probably x Ray tubes, enough to start up your own research lab! I'm surprised all those goodies have not gone.
Microtones are used for histology histopathology I've studied this. There expensive to buy I do have my own lab people just smash them up as there not understand what the equipment is used for
Love the video. To the people saying its a waste of medical equipment, look at the age of it, for one its massively out dated and the price of servicing it, converting it to run on different voltages and transporting it would probably cost as much buying better, or more useful equipment. Just a thought….
Thought healthcare was screwed up here. Does seem like a waste. So glad to listen to music than all that annoying audio like footsteps etc. nice video again
It is a total waste! Glad you liked it with the music! Ssome people complain and want to hear the real sound, I'll have to upload different videos to please everyone lol
I'm catching up with you. I just hit 7K. Let' race to 8K. LOL! I am just kidding. I don't really care about that stuff. Nice Video. I'd love to see England, Scotland, and Wales. Oh, and Ireland too. Tom
Congratulations! Well if you're in Scotland, let me know! :)
Let's all race to 8k! lol (we clearly like a challenge) LOL. Great video! You look like you had a great time down there! And yes what a waste of stuff!! :O That place is going to get trashed :( Will be glad to have you back home TeEnZiE :) x
I really liked that one!!
I love the dog 😍😹🐩🐶
Hey, love the video can I just ask where is that you filmed? Do you know the name of the hospital and the area?
It looks like a cool place to check out...
Interesting to see the video. Didn't know it was totally abandoned. Wonder if it was being demolished for a replacement? Looking at Google, it seems to have changed it's name to London Road Community Hospital. I seem to remember most of the departments transferring to Royal Derby Hospital, which was once just a quiet little hospital in a quiet residential area. Last time I visited what was Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, it was over six years ago, when my dad passed away. Like I say, interesting to see what you found. But, take care of that little dog. Take it for a walk round Arboretum Park instead, if you're nearby again. If that's not become derelict! Best wishes
That dog tho😍
Mesmo abandonado, está mil vezes melhor que hospital da rede pública aqui no Brasil!!!
Shame on the government not the NHS.
@@paulbell2622I agree with you in all aspects!
Would be a great place to film a movie
Wow! Cool vid- either myself or my dad were born there (one of us was born in DRI n other in Derby General- can't remember which way round now) lol
Typical of ANY UK Government funded organisations abandoned offices/hospitals - surprised you didn't find boxes of patents files as these usually get lost when they move! Nice video - sad about the waste and loss of another hospital
i realy regret not having a look round wile i had chance..
Awesome vid Tenzie!!
Just by glancing, some of the equipment is obsolete. It could have been donated to be 3rd countries. The 0-2 concentrators could have been donated to nursing homes.
I can't believe you take your dog with you. Inevitably these abandoned places are littered with broken glass, nails etc.
super vidéo !! bien merci ...
Im from southern europe, i used to live in england and i even had my baby in one of NHS hospitals. Why are they closing these hospitals? They' re very good.
I was born in that hospital! ...
Could use it as a film set, clean it up a little, use the equipment and there you go. Eastenders II
Even at the time that equipment was not usable. But. Terrible loss to the community in terms of the actual sir
I live only 20 minutes away :/ oh god, here come the nightmares.
Hey dude, don't suppose you have a postcode as to where this is? I'm just about to create a short film and in need of some cool abandoned places like this to film in, I'm from the UK! Awesome video by the way, if you like cinematography type videos, have a little look at mine and let know know what you think! - Matty
It's being demolished, might even be gone. It's Derbyshire royal infirmary anyway. :-)
if you want some where in the UK. duston in Northampton has St Crispins, few videos on RUclips and tons of photos on Google. I really want to go in. it to much of a whimp on my own lol
+Martin Richardson is it still abandoned
It's been demolished
Hey, try out in Castle Hedingham looking for "Tanners" Milk factory.
I could totally see that place being used for a UK version of Scrubs.
Nice veiw of derby from up there
