So nearly 2 years later visiting this channel.. coz we too found a myna bird and it was thanks to this video we were able to provide it care .. it's a tough S.O.B now lol talks a lot and plays a lot and even bites me a lot .. but play bites.. loves showering and roams the house like it's own.. and sings star wars imperial March!! thank you man ! Couldn't have done it without you.
It is heart wrenching to see this story. I can tell you that I understand what you feel. About 4 weeks ago, we found a little myna trapped in the net in our balcony on the 3rd floor. We have never been close to a bird as such and didn't have any specific liking for birds in general. It would have fallen from the floors above out of it's nest. It looked like a few days old (something similar to your bird). I was very reluctant to touch it so mostly used newspaper and cloth to handle the bird. I saw some mynas fighting out in a distance as if they were wanting to claim the bird or fighting on whose fault it was that the birds fell off the nest. I kept the bird in the open in the balcony hoping that the parents would come and claim it, but they didn't. Instead I found some crows waiting out for it, and thats when I realized that I need to take it in. I didn't even know what to feed the bird and started with some grains (which I later realized wasn't the right food). I found an empty amazon cardboard box and placed her into it and in our living room. The name on the box was "Presto" (Amazon brand) and we named her Presto :) She's been with us for almost a month now and a part of the family. She gets all the love, attention and gets her moment when we spoil her. She started showing curiosity to fly in the last few days. She would take shorter flights from the floor to the edge of the balcony (and that's when our hearts would pound faster), but today morning I let her be there and was feeding her when she flew away from the balcony over to a tree far away. I knew that she had to fly some day, but wasn't quite sure if she was ready yet as she hasn't yet learned to eat on her own. A part of us prayed for her safety and let her go while our eyes kept on looking for her, but another part wanted to search for her for we knew that she's still a baby (parent's instinct). We went out to search for her and managed to find her perching on a tall tree. She was up there, but didn't know how to come down( it was her first real flight, and she'd been a little too courageous it seems). Someone helped us get on the top of the tall tree and she moved to another and we did the same thing and she finally came down to us. After we got her back, we haven't been able to think what is the right thing to do. A part of us knows that she is meant to be out there, sky is her playground and another part of us wants her to be with us as we love her dearly. The distance from the head to the heart is the longest as they say and we need to cover that to make a decision on what's best for her. After watching your video, I felt emotional and felt like sharing this with you. I hope some day she'd come back to you and you'd have a proper closure with her. You're a good person. God bless you.
I know how you feel. I stay in a flat too. So even if the bird wanted to come back, it would have never found its way back. A few months after release I found a mynah observing me whenever I went jogging. It would get to the lowest tree branch and talk but wouldn't let me get too close. I respected it's space. I saw it for a month or two. And never again . I like to believe it's living it's life to the fullest, and exploring this wonderful planet :-)
Consider taking Presto out in the open frequently. If you have a garden it might help. If you have whistle trained her it will help. Always whistle before feeding her. So the next time you whistle when outdoors, she will fly right back to you. All the best you guys.

What do you feed the chick?? Coz today I found a mynah chick in my backyard attacked by crows... Am just searching for what kind feed we can give to the chick now.. chick just started to grow few feathers and eyes are still closed
Praveen G people feed the baby chick soggy dog or cat food. You can also eventually feed them veggies if it’s an Indian mynah you can give them some egg yolk and pretty much they need high protein diets. If you can then maybe you should get some mealworms since it’s a chick and mealworms are very fatty and high in protein. My noisy miner is on wombarroo honeyeater mix. Teresa Mendoza they’re fairly easy to care for as long as you’ve done your research like getting rid of dangerous things such as teflon (highly toxic to birds) and not having fans on so they don’t get hurt etc. The poop is insane but if you dedicate a space for them it will be easy to clean. I also cover things with newspaper and plastic (to wipe clean) while my bird is flying around. I know you can train birds to poop on their perches but I struggle with the timing of that. I hope she comes back. Maybe she had a reason, but it wasn’t your fault. Sometimes these things happen and there really seems to be no reason why. You did a wonderful job caring for and loving her. I wish you happiness in life.

food with lots of protein helps them grow. Although for some reason ive seen that they are unable to digest eggs. insects are the best food for these little guys!!
Not all birds leave their 'Nest' when being given care by a human. I seen many cases, it's kinda like a choice. But it's also built in their genes. Oh well.
Some leave . Some stay. Mine actually would interact with mynah that would come near my balcony. I guess they somehow spoke to each other and convinced her to leave :-)
My family and I are taking care of a baby Mynah right now. It was injured and couldn’t fly or escaped from cats that’s why we took it in, although it’s parents were along side of it. We would take it outside to meet it’s parents and practice flying everyday, it’s mother would feed it and father would be there as well. It still cannot fly perfectly. I don’t want to let it go until I’m sure its flying is perfect to escape cats. I don’t know if what I’m doing is right or wrong but I’m afraid cats would eat it.
Hi there. Great job and iam glad he/she left healthy. We have a similar mynah who we rescued. It has been over 4 weeks with us and is very attached. However we want the bird to fly away freely. When is the right time to let the bird go and what would be the best way to leave it
It's a good idea to set them free when they can fly and perch safely. Also they will start showing instinctive behaviour like catching insects that come too close and also become more vocal and produce new sounds. That's usually when they will try to fly away. I would suggest taking it to a garden or park regularly so that it has the option of flying away when it wants to. In my case I would leave all my doors and windows open at all times.
mine is afraid of me right now. its a brahminy starling. approx 2-3 weeks old. i take her box inside at night. and keep outside in morning so her parents can feed her. i also feed her. i hope shes as friendly with me as yours
@@Smt_Glaive i kept the box outside so its parents can feed in day. it ran away. and probably killed by other birds. its parents come daily in hope that i have kept box outside. the bird itself fell down that too 2 times. so i had to take him in box; now its gone. thanks for your help.
They don't really leave you once they learn flying.i m sure some birds might have attack myna.normally they will come and go around your neighborhood but leave you later when they get familiar with other mynas and learn to search food themselves.
Hi I recently found a baby bird and I'm suspecting it to be a baby babbler (satbhai). I tried keeping it outside so it's parents could take it but no success. I am planning to raise it till it's healthy enough to fly. Now since it's difficult for me to find insects and I do not have pedigree either, could you please help me as to how and what should I feed it?
I raised another bird. Take some dal seeds of different kinds, take some dry soyabean chunks ( the ones that become spongy ) - basically take anything that has protein. PUT IT ALL IN A MIXER and make a fine powder out of it. Then use that powder to make a paste with water. You can feed them that paste. If you can get some cerelac that would be great too.
@@reenagohel5033 ive tried feeding chicken and fish.for some reason birds always vomit it out. onpy carnivorous birds may digest meat as it is a more complex protein compared to what is there in insects etc
I am hand raising a baby mynah rescued by a young girl. I am feeding it mashed boiled eggs, mashed fruit like banana, watermelon and also Protyn's Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae, bought from Amazon. Added a supplement multivite drops. He is doing well. Almost two months old now.
Tomorrow i lost my mynah and her name is peachy i love her so much and i don't know that where se goes because she always open the cage by her own and walk all over our house tomorrow also she done the same but this time she goes out and i search her for 4 hours but i don't find her i hope that she come soon i miss her so much she is just a small cutiepie😭😭😭😭😭😭 and we kept her in cage when she wants to sleep because fear of cat and now I'm all alone i miss my peachy 💛 its been one day without her i even don't know that she is alright or not because she was with us since childhood and she didn't know how to fly she know but lil bit i hope she is fine😭😭😭😭😭
its difficult to feed a bird that has already opened its eye, since its parents have already imprinted on it. the best bet is to hope that the parents will return to feed it.
Yes tried leaving the bird on terrace and hoping her parents return. But thn they didnt. Reason why i had to take her indoors. Got no idea what has to be done. Even her legs are hurt
@@sarikadevpunje9444 try getting a dropper and feeding it paste food like cerelac. everytime u feed make sure u whistle. build a bond with her. then start feeding her pedigree soaked in water. fruits and insects are good too. all the best.
Same thing happened to me yesterday.i rescued her.im giving liquid satto.but still dont know what to feed her.plz give me some suggestions sir.waiting for your reply.
we are feeding cerelac to our baby mynah we just found recently . he's about 3-4 days. guide me about the timing to feed him like how much food gap is best for him?
Hey try feeding it every 20 minutes. As it grows up you can change it to 30 minutes. They have to be fed from sunrise to sunset. Consider feeding it fruits and insects too.
Hey dude, I’m really happy after seeing this video and I too got one myna it was nearly 2old I think so, and hair also not yet grown. What should I feed it ?
Hey, I mainly fed mine of pedigree soaked in water since it has a lot of protein. They digest vegetarian puppy pedigree quickly. Also give em mashed fruits like bananas, papayas ... All the best.
Hi there, Found same chick in my balcony, trying to feed her royal canin dog food but she's not accepting. What should i do ,any alternative to dog food or should i try to feed pedigree instead?? She's eating fruits and Tomatoes but It will not help her to grow and will become weak.. Plzz reply urgently...
iam glad you realised that just feeding fruits wont be enough. baby mynah birds usually arent picky. but i have seen bulbul babies be picky. i fed mine on pedigree only ( both veg and nonveg ) soak it in water . make it spongy. squeeze excess water ... and feed it. dont just put it in its beak. put it in the throat to cause the swallow reflex to kick in. also avoid eggs and milk completely. hope it works somehow.
Let me know if cerelac and chana sattu is good for them, to fulfill protein requirements? I've tried giving dog food, sometimes she'll eat and sometimes she removes from inside its mouth.
Hey..you r a great person for saving a baby bird.today i also found a baby mynah bird which was totally wet n weak.i fed some crushed apple with powdered biscuit.i just want to know which food u gave.plz suggest
If you can get your hands on Pedigree ..soak it in water and feed it. Similarly you can feed them cerelac too. Insects are the best good however. Fruits lika bananas and berries are also good.
There is such bird in our gallery. It’s mother comes at times to feed. The bird keeps calling. The same happened bfor months. We didn’t touch the bird. It grew up but died there too. This time I feel that I should take the baby n keep in our house n feed her. N keep the door of gallery open so mother too can come. Sd I do so?? Or leave them ??
@@reenagohel5033 the best thing to do is to leave them alone. THe more u observe the more its parents will be hesitant to feed. only take it in if the parent hasnt fed it for the entire day. But if the bird has opened its eyes , then feeding it will be a challenging task. Also they have to be fed frequently and need a lot of care. So before taking them in you have to be ready to commit!!
This is incredible... I recently received 2 Indian Common myna birds one of them is lazy and its sleepy almost all the time Does this mean Its a female and its carries an egg? Or the bird is sick? Please help. Thanks!
Hi CN you please tell when do they start flying ? I mean how many weaks exactly And how can you tell if its a she or he ?im confused with mine but it looks like my mynah is trying to fly.
After hatching. They usually fly withing 2 weeks. It's difficult to tell the gender of birds based on organs. Their feather colors or size is one way to predict. Usually males are larger.
I used to feed it every 20 minutes. Around 2 -3 pieces of soaked pedigree. I started feeding early in the morning and would stop at sunset. Hope it helps.
If it's old enough and hops around then you can feed them grains. If they're younger than that , they usually have high protein needs. And grains and seeds won't cut it.
I fed her pedigree mostly. Try feeding it in a dark room by making bird sounds.birds initially are afraid of seeing a large animal trying to feed it. So use a dark room.
That was still a baby mynah and couldn't fly or properly find food for her self so she needed some caring for two or three weeks or else a cat would have eaten her that's why she couldn't come back don't rush things

My heart reaches out to you.. I would missed it too 😢
Really wonderful, you did a great job.
Don't take it as a sad end, he might now have family and fly around your house :)
Yep. Last year I found him following me when I was jogging.
This story make me really heart broken
Looks like it failed the loyalty test.
But it's okay, you did mother nature a favor and mother earth is happy with it.
There isn’t a loyalty test. Thats how birds function, when they grow up they left the nest and go for their ways.
Not all birds leave their 'Nest' when being given care by a human. I seen many cases, it's kinda like a choice. But it's also built in their genes. Oh well.
Some leave . Some stay. Mine actually would interact with mynah that would come near my balcony. I guess they somehow spoke to each other and convinced her to leave
:-)
My bulbul stayed. Even when he had multiple opportunities to fly away.
So sad .. u will deserve a meet-up with her ☺️
omg my mynah flew just like this...T_T
My family and I are taking care of a baby Mynah right now. It was injured and couldn’t fly or escaped from cats that’s why we took it in, although it’s parents were along side of it. We would take it outside to meet it’s parents and practice flying everyday, it’s mother would feed it and father would be there as well. It still cannot fly perfectly. I don’t want to let it go until I’m sure its flying is perfect to escape cats. I don’t know if what I’m doing is right or wrong but I’m afraid cats would eat it.
You're doing a good thing by allowing parents to feed it. They will give it the best possible food. All the best
@@Smt_Glaive Thank you ♥️
Thank you!!!
They don't really leave you once they learn flying.i m sure some birds might have attack myna.normally they will come and go around your neighborhood but leave you later when they get familiar with other mynas and learn to search food themselves.
A touching story.
Can we feed ground chicken or fish ??
@@reenagohel5033 ive tried feeding chicken and fish.for some reason birds always vomit it out. onpy carnivorous birds may digest meat as it is a more complex protein compared to what is there in insects etc

What should I feed her , I found a baby mynah ?
I found a myna in my balcony. She isn't eating anything. Tried feeding her.
its difficult to feed a bird that has already opened its eye, since its parents have already imprinted on it.
the best bet is to hope that the parents will return to feed it.

CN you please tell when do they start flying ? I mean how many weaks exactly
And how can you tell if its a she or he ?im confused with mine but it looks like my mynah is trying to fly.
After hatching. They usually fly withing 2 weeks.
It's difficult to tell the gender of birds based on organs. Their feather colors or size is one way to predict. Usually males are larger.

can we feed Indian Myna some grains ? then & now ?
If it's old enough and hops around then you can feed them grains.
If they're younger than that , they usually have high protein needs. And grains and seeds won't cut it.
