    Janet, The more you drive, the more confident you will be. I’m 64 and I’m driving solo with my dog. This was not my initial choice. After we bought our LTV, my husband got cancer and subsequently passed away. If I can do it, you can, believe me! It’s easy, even on hair pin turns. As with parking, you’ll learn by practice. I tell people this, not for sympathy but to encourage them to be independent in case of life changes.

    I feel that with couples, each should be able to do what the other person does. Switch jobs on purpose, take a little longer to set up, walk each other through the process and do it several times. I'm not solo but my husband's health means everything is up to me, including driving, set up outside and in, fueling up, etc. If I hadn't learned to drive, to set up, to back up, etc. while he was in good health I'm not sure we would be camping today.

    I'm buying a small Class C that's relatively cheap. I was able to get a warranty, so I know I don't have to worry a lot of repairs needed for a few years. That will give me a couple of years to wait for the wait list. I'm actually going to plan to live in my first RV for at least 6 months before I place my order for my leisure van. I want to make sure I actually enjoy living on the road full-time before I invest the same amount of money as a house. Because I've never driven anything that large, I'm planning to take a driving course specifically for rvs. I want to make sure I feel confident in the amount of space I take up. That might be something that Janet might the benefited with as well. It's something that either one of us could probably figure out on our own, but I think the tips and tricks that the professionals will give us would make more safe choices on the road.

    Brandon, happy that both of you are enjoying your Unity. We love our ‘18 UMB-it’s our 3rd motorhome in 22 years and my wife has yet to drive any of them or do external hookups or slide deployment, hookup to towed, etc, so Janet is not alone in that regard(and she has 20 more years to try!).
    I have to admit that I miss driving our 39’ pusher, it was really comfortable. If you haven’t driven one, you should try one out sometime. But I certainly don’t miss trying to back into tight RV parks. I prefer County and State Parks, which are often limited to 25-27’, so the Unity is perfect, and like you called out, the front wheel cut is impressive.
    Our Unity has been trouble free, happily. Really, the biggest ongoing problem is not using our LTV often enough!

    I’ve heard quality is really sucky in the rv industry, but I don’t know if that’s just for travel trailers, fifth wheels, etc that get towed behind a vehicle, or motorhomes, or campervans, just some or all have quality drop? I don’t know. How often have you had anything break, need to be replaced? How much did the repairs, servicing cost? How difficult was it to find someone to fix it, to find the replacement, how expensive was the piece?

    • @Pagosa
      @Pagosa  3 месяца назад +1

      The Leisure is one of the better, less stress RVs. All will have problems eventually. Our LTV never had an issue, outside of the safe digital combo failing. Everything is generally easy to fix and you can learn to do your own, or hire an RV Tech. Keep in mind, the less you pay (especially in towables) the more issues.

    What we did for the noise in our Unity
    I like you hate the noises that reach my ears coming from the back we bought a noise and light reducing curtain from Amazon that I hung right behind the driver’s and passenger seat and it has reduced probably 80-90% of the noise
    The other Benafits are the air conditioning and heat in the cab work much better .

      @Pagosa  2 года назад

      Interesting. What do you like about the Wayfarer over the Unity?

    • @petewenk
      @petewenk 2 года назад +1

      First, we owned a Tiffin Phaeton, so we have a comfort level with the brand. Next, we sold the LTV because someone made the right offer. Then, the size of the slide and placement of the Murphy bed, which IMHO provides a superior living arrangement. The theater seating is far more comfortable, and the level of quality, while not quotient as good, is very acceptable. Then there’s the dealer network and the wonderful team of techs at Winfield. Overall, we feel it’s a more livable coach. The one downside is the OCCC, which creates some limitations, but if we need to carry a bunch of stuff we tow a ‘21 Crosstrek with about 1000 pounds of capacity. Hope that’s helpful.

    • @cp1699
      @cp1699 6 месяцев назад

      Congratulations! We also purchased a Wayfarer and love the awesome space with the RW floor plan, largest bathroom, headspace and vital space above cab. Love the aircraft style entry door and slide covers almost the full length of coach. I am claustrophobic no issues-in the RW. Love the full size bay doors same as Class A, access so easy. Finally the Murphy Bed, 3 Tv’s and 2 electric recliners separate from bed make entertainment options fantastic. We don’t see any need to tow a vehicle since my wife and I can get the slide, awning and jacks in about ten minutes (don’t hook up water or sewer until we leave for home to dump sewer or refill water) We just disconnect electrical and drive the RV to explore. Cheers!

    We are considering ordering a 2023 Unity MBL and are considering ordering it without a generator. Our hopes are to make it a Lithionics Battery power house. In your opinion, in the space that the generator would have been in, is there enough room for 3 or 4 Lithionic batteries?
    Another concern is after watching LTV’s video again I realized by not ordering the solar package the microwave would not be hooked up to the inverter. Do you think this is difficult to have this done?

    • @Pagosa
      @Pagosa  2 года назад +1

      If you can order without a gen, and they actually put a storage bin in it's place, you could certainly add more battery. I'm not sure how they outfit the gen area without a generator. Moving the microwave breaker over to the inverted side to run off battery is super simple, so no worries there.

    To all the ladies who 'wonder if they could drive an RV?...' This Leisure Travel van is just like driving a big car - you'll get used to driving it in about 15 minutes. Seriously. Before I got my Class A license to drive a tractor-trailer, the biggest thing I had ever driven on the highway was my Dad's pickup truck to go get horse feed and hay. Trust yourself that you can drive ANYTHING. It just takes some practice and a good set of mirrors (and an instructor who isn't a jerk). Don't let anyone intimidate you about this! You'll get some guy giving you advice or being mean about 'women driving!' like they drove a big rig out of their Momma's womb, but believe me, they were beginners once, too. lol Secure men don't care if you're just as good as they are at something - in fact, they will help you to become as good as they are. In the trucking industry, women are generally considered to be some of the best drivers because we tend to be much more careful than (some of) the men. I've never seen a woman driver trying to be 'SUPER TRUCKER'... that seems to be the exclusive province of a certain type of guy. (Forgive me, fellas, but it is the truth.) Take your time and GET OUT AND LOOK at what's behind you. Being in a rush and letting your ego get the better of you is what causes backing accidents. You've got this, ladies!

    Hi Just wondering what your motivation is to also buy a towable. Our LTV UTB has just arrived at our dealer and will be picking up in the next few weeks…. We first rented a Navion RV for a couple of weeks 2020 ( during Covid). Was a great intro to the RV life despite being total rookies, and I ( as the wife lol) drove it and found it quite easy to drive. The next year we rented a towable for 4 days. Definitely noticed how more challenging it was ( pulling in to gas stations). Stopping to get groceries ad trying to find parking etc. Plus I did not drive as towing a trailer is not in my comfort zone. Enjoy all your videos and adventures. And like others have mentioned definitely need to get Janet to drive occasionally as a just in case….

      @@donnerparty1815 Basement, I have travel around the world for over 40 years. I didn't waste my money on an asset like a RV that commonly depreciates a $1000 a month and spend $50 to $75 per night sleeping in an RV park. Instead, much cheaper to travel abroad, see the world and a lof more intriguing.

    wife” automatically turning her her head instead of using modern mirror technology. suggestion that helps me.. so like dancing, think kinesthetic (physical response) like dancers, ER responders.. I like to CONTROL MY VEHICLE. ... old school stick shift, turn your head… helpful to aarent a car - ford - that has technology. drive and do your errands. park. it is more manageable. Modtech I DO NOT LIKE is auto drive safety stuff when you are droving down route 5 California (major mojo highway trucks.. 70+ per hour), and a car or truck cross the line to much, so you look into your mirror and accommodate for safety. and your vehicle tries to put you back in your lane, or starts talking or beeping at you. better forward back safety, than sideway freeway control. scary when you feel like you are fighting for control over your vehicle in a dangerous situation that requires astute reflexes.

      @Pagosa go to a fairground or factory and not many around so she has plenty of room to practice with the cameras and mirrors to feel comfortable. I am so glad my daughter's didn't have to learn to drive in a big city.

    How much of a discount can you get off from MSRP on one of these Vans? Is 20 to 30 percent possible?

    • @Pagosa
      @Pagosa  8 месяцев назад +1

      Since the pandemic, there are no discounts, and many times dealers charge a premium over MSRP when they get a cancelled order. Wait times are 1-2 years currently.
