Is there a body of water near by...???? Yes they hop on land because they literally can't walk. Their body anatomy isn't made to walk, they're not land animals. They can't take off either when on land , and hopping like that is both tiring and unnatural for them so I really hope there's a pond just off camera.. because they could die easily especially the babies...
They can't walk on land, due to their legs being located far back on their pelvis; but, they can "walk" on water with assistance of their small, pointed wings. Because of this, loons can't travel too far inland, and because they have small, narrow wings, they need a lot of water to live in due to their small wings causing a shallow take off. On top of all of this, loons have solid bones, which increases their weight making flight near impossible.
Nope. Just out of it's element. If I had to guess I'd say it was scared out of its territory by something and is using this cottage to cross onto another body of water, probably so that it can get back to mama.
the little babies hopping like their pops and doing their little screeches are so cuuutte
Actually only male loons can make that screeching noise
they only do that sound to scare away predators or other male loons
Awww i wonder where the babies' mom is :(
Actually, It's both female & male.
@@littlemissennui1244Both parents take care of the chicks, not just the mother, so no need to worry about that.
Loons do a siren wail🚨 screech

Poor things..why are they here ? Hope no one scared them or the water somehow unacceptable..global warming ? Polluted. Contaminated?!
Loons are built for the water and that’s why their legs are at the back, kinda like a little propeller like a boat
Get it to the water or it could die. They can’t take off from land
Was searching for footage of ‘walking’ loons! Amazing

Poor thing...
Me going to school with my sister.
Were is this ?! Call the Wild Life folks to HELP !!
Its in distress
correct!
the call is called a tremolo and they use this call to alert other loons of danger
@@metheguy4466 the loon in this video is doing a yodel call, not a tremolo. The yodel is a territorial call used by male loons.
Clearly, it wouldn't put it's babies in this situation if it weren't distressed
OMG! Did you help the loon? It needed to get to water with those chicks. Hello!! Anything for a click huh? No, I am subscribing to you.
Author said they made is safely back to a pond.
