  • Watch us discover possibly our most favourite BBQ place so far! The food was incredible and we wanted to go back the moment we left.
    We had the sausage, the brisket and the beef rib!! This was honestly so so good and we can't wait to go back.
    Everyone kept talking about the beef rib and I had no idea how good it would be until we tried it first hand. It definitely did not disappoint!!
    We are loving our journey to try new BBQ every single week and so far we just love BBQ more and more!
    Thank you all again so much for following and supporting us and this channel, we can't wait to see you on the next one.

      Except Black's in Lockhard... or Kreuz's in Lockhart... or Lockhard's City Market... Snows... Franklin's... Cooper's... Schulenburg's... on and on. The good thing - there are 100 great joints and a person making 'best' judgments should visit them all, and find the rest in a 100 mile radius of Austin. After that, there's chicken fried steak wars to join. Then tacos...

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 3 месяца назад

      There are other places who do brisket or beef ribs just as well as Black's, but in my BBQ journey I've found that Black's is the only one that has exceptional brisket, beef ribs, sausage and smoked turkey. Their sides (less important to me) are also done well. A lot of BBQ joints do one thing well and everything else either average or below average, Black's does the most difficult thing...and that is consistency with everything they do. Of course I've only been to Black's and Terry Black's in Lockhart...and never tried everything on both menus at once, but I've made the pilgramage 4 times in my life and never been dissapointed.

    • @bitfenix90

      @@bitfenix90 I've seen bigger, but also much smaller. That wasnt the original Terry Black's they visited...quality always seems to take a dip (even if slightly) when the original branches out to different locations. They may try to do things as they were taught, (including buying their meat) but it's never exactly the same.

    • @bitfenix90
      @bitfenix90 3 месяца назад

      @@jbm0866 The adventage/disadv of 'branches' is that Terry spent 30 years learning who produces the best quality beef. Jim Franklin only needed 10 but, those were prime years for beef ribs and everyone else had to chase his lead. But they did, and how best quality meats are known. So are their prices, which is why many shops don't carry beef ribs, or good ones. "We can't expect patrons to pay $30-40-50 per rib!"

    Welcome to Texas. This video makes about a dozen times I’ve seen Brits trying Texas BBQ and eating tor meats with silverware and cutlery. This is not a fine dining environment. Here’s a tip to assimilate into the culture: When it comes to BBQ, silverware and cutlery is for sides. You’re going to have to lose some of that stuffy formality and relax, lol. Pick up that meat with your hands and enjoy it. And carving off the fat? Fat is flavor, and for BBQ in the elite quality of Terry Blacks, the fat should be perfectly rendered and melt in your mouth.

    Oh, one more comment before I go, but this is very very important. Now that you guys are accustomed to driving vast distances without leaving the state of Texas, you must visit Lockhart Texas, the unofficial BBQ capitol of the state. Not only does it contain the original Black's, but also Terry Black's first place, and also Kreuz market and Smitty's. I can't remember what each place specializes in at the moment, but instead of limiting yourself to one place you'll want to try the specialty of each. If you don't have the time (or stomach) for doing it all in one go, multiple visits are in order. It's a small town so not much to do other than eat, but it's a pretty drive in spring or late fall.

    While Terry Black's has become more of a tourist trap over the years thanks to RUclipsrs etc. it's still an incredible BBQ joint. Franklin's might be a tad better overall for some people, but Terry Black's is amazing and always a great choice for good BBQ. Plus, what makes a BBQ joint are the sides and TB has some awesome sides. The beans with the brisket in there, top tier stuff. I haven't been to TB is like 20 years and I miss having that kind of BBQ so much.

    Welcome to Texas. This style of higher end bbq is a relatively new thing. This is not what most Texans grew up eating. I would recommend trying a place like Rudy’s (if you haven’t yet) for a more authentic (and less expensive) experience.
    I haven’t been to Terry Black’s, but I’ve noticed a lot of these high end places are hit or miss on the sides. And the sides are so important because the meat is so, so heavy.
    The brisket most of us grew up eating was far leaner and needed bbq sauce.
    In the Houston area, try places like Killen’s, Corkscrew, etc. for the higher end stuff.
