- Turn back the clock for one of the pioneers of the survival-horror genre. Translated and released outside of Japan for the first time, Clock Tower: Rewind is a revival of the terror-inducing 16-bit classic that dares you to explore the haunting confines of the Barrows family manor. As teenage orphan Jennifer, you must search every disturbing corner to find items, reveal secrets, and discover ways to evade Scissorman, a murderous, unstoppable, shears-wielding psychopath.
Play Original mode to experience Clock Tower as it was when initially released in 1995, or play Rewind mode with extra content and improvements. Additional features include a new animated intro, opening and ending vocal theme songs, motion comics, creator interview, art gallery, border artwork, save states, and a music player. The clock is ticking...can you survive?

Man I remember playing the old version many years ago, there was not an official release outside of Japan, you could only play it with an emulator or unofficial translated ones. Its nice to see they are finally making an official one

For those who are wondering this isn't a straight port of the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) rather is based on the port of the PSX (Playstation 1) Clock Tower: The First Fear, via (Japanese Exclusive) which added new locations for Scissorman to show up, to some new jumpscares, a animated opening, a scene explaining the events for Clock Tower 2 (Our Clock Tower 1) and lastly CD Audio (Same Original Soundtrack). But in all fairness, seeing this come officially in the West is pretty darn awesome! I know that not only myself but countless others want to see Clock Tower 1-3 to come out with the "Rewind" or "Remastered/Remake" treatment!
This, "Clock Tower," canonically was the first in the series. As the West only received Clock Tower and Clock Tower 2 on PSX (Playstation 1) and Clock Tower 3 on PS2 (Playstation 2). But to clarify any confusion this Clock Tower was originally released in Japan as Clock Tower on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) then later as Clock Tower: The First Fear on the PSX (Playstation 1) which this one is based off of but to make things more confusing. Our Clock Tower 1 is actually Clock Tower 2 in Japan, and our Clock Tower 2 in Japan is Clock Tower: Ghost Head. And lastly Clock Tower 3 was the same in both in the West and Japan but the strange part is our Clock Tower 2 and 3 have nothing to do with this story or the events of Clock Tower 1 in the West... So you could see this game as a prequel story for the first game we got. But it really should have been called Clock Tower: First Fear Rewind, so there's no confusion by anyone in the West!
In addition to my previous comment, this is what I learned so far of this, re-release official localization.
So basically, this re-release is based on the updated version that added features from the PSX (Playstation) port, The First Fear, and some cut content that appeared in that version of that port. Also, those cut features were added back from a rom hack for Super Famicom (SNES) that existed for a little while. Sure, you could argue that dubed motion comic panels are neat, but that came included with the PSX port in normal paper format. Sure, it isn't animated or even in English, but still there.
Also, making essential two different versions, one resembles the original Clock Tower on SFC, but the second "Rewind" version is essentially The First Fear port on the PSX with the extra "Cut Content" placed back into the SFC game? I'm sorry, but adding a new Rewind function is neat for a new players to experience this overlooked cult classic game and finally has an officially localization in different languages after for so long but relying on it kinda defeats the purpose of a game to be the Godfather of Survival Horror which I know Sweet Home on the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System) actually predates this game in horror.
At least you have some interesting new stuff like behind the scenes, interviews, a music player, box scans of the original game and etc. Hopefully that the Bandai WonderSwan, the Windows 95, and PSX ports have the boxart and manual scans like the original SFC one featured in a new video. It would be definitely awesome to see the WonderSwan port added in this as that would definitely be an awesome bonus or even a very cool secret unlockable.
End of the day I'm not hating on this Offical Localization of the gane as I reserved my physical copy through Limited Run Games and I will be happy to play this again and see what all is new but please don't hate me I'm just stating on what I see and it won't change my mind as this game is still a cult classic and I truly hope we see ports of Clock Tower (Clock Tower 2 in JP) and Clock Tower 2 (Clock Tower: Ghost Head in JP) come out too! Kinda wish this re-release had the name of Clock Tower: First Fear Rewind to make it less confusing to everyone remembering the original Clock Tower on the PSX that we received in the West!!

@Dizerfullpower Nice sarcasm, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was an edited emulated port either. But meh, I know Clock Tower: Ghost Head (Clock Tower 2) in the West never got a physical or later digital release in PAL territories on the PSX (Physical) or later re-released on PS3/PSP (Digital). So maybe it would be interesting to see a global worldwide re-release on modern platforms for those who never had the chance to try it for themselves.

For anyone who doesn’t know, there was a Clock Tower manga that came out at least roughly the same time as this game. The comic panels we see in this trailer are from that manga!

For me it was Nitro Rad.

I found it randomly in 2003, when my brother brought a nodded Xbox home, with snes games on it. Me being a huge fan of the PS1, I was quite overjoyed to find that I was actually playing part 2 this whole time on my Playstation.
Just before i graduated high school and you didn't need to worry about the FBI and Nintendo trying to kick down doors for playing SNES games on the computer, I loved this game so much that I set up a whole Windows XP theme around it, where the log in sound was the Clock Towers main theme. Got all the endings and constantly ran around in the game trying to find all the lore I could. It was a fun time lol.

I'm actually glad they're keeping the old graphics. The realistic graphics they've been using lately don't do any service for the horror games.

I guess, and this is just a guess, its because of how short of a story it is. I guess they could add more to the story if the original creators agree and also add part 2. But still its really too short and there are some info that even fans can't figure how much sense it makes in the story. But, all in all, I would very much like an anime of this!

shortness aside, I don't think it'll stop 30-60 min OVAs from being possible. maybe 90s early-00s Japan was still having so much resource for something like that to happen, unlike today, random costs and political hurdles just add up so much.
There’s a lot more story in the sequel, and honestly that game could DEFINITELY use a remake.

I played this and added some scenes in the comic two years ago, finally someone continued to develop this game by adding some animations and some music to add a new atmosphere. really can't wait to play it again

Sound effect-wise, I choose the one from the rare PS1 release as most preferable, especially by the sound of door opening and closing as well as the sound of giant scissors making that clashing sound when cutting
Sound effects are so important to a game ambience I agree entirely.
When/If they adapt the sequel, I hope they use more elements from the novel. The novels helped make this series one of my favorite horror series ever.
I never heard of this game, but I know there were some of the best(and most disturbing) games in the 90s. I clicked on this because I literally look just like this remake version of Jennifer Simpson, it is super uncanny to see, especially when my features are a result of being mixed with European and Mohawk. I really want to play it because it looks very cool, but games lately give me horrific VR-esque nightmares.
When in dreams, remember you always have a weapon to fight back. Screaming "I am the eternal champion" at monsters works too.
