Damn, these highlights are a testament to how good Rafa was on grass... for which he doesn't get enough credit! Even apart from that brilliant trilogy of finals against prime Federer, culminating in his first title at Wimbledon in 2008, and also the title run in 2010, these highlights belong to a player who, on this surface alone, deserves legendary status! All the way till the last match he played against Fritz in 2022 with an injury, he brought the fight and won like a true gladiator! ♥
13:43 the sequence of shots in that 2011 qf with Fish is just absurd improvisation and hand skills. For all the cliche warrior never say die mentality and clay accolades that have followed him as the MO associated with him the guy was so ridiculously talented. Flashes of utter genius.

Since I first saw him in 2004, I thought this guy would go on to be something special. But even I didn't realise quite how special he'd be. A truly iconic and legendary sportsman.
Favourite player. Sad to see him go and my motivation for watching is gonna take a hit. I have been hoping for him to retire this season though as it's clear his body just can't do it anymore and it's been horrible watching him struggle/lose against players he would have mauled in his prime.
Several of the most spectacular points happened in the Wimbledon 2008 final vs. Federer. Nadal was incredible and unbeatable that day!! 🏆🤩🏆 It’s no wonder why a lot of people remember that tennis match as one of the best that ever happened!

Rafa's legacy on clay is unrivalled for the ages, but his records on hard court and grass are never shy of amazing. Roger and Novak clearly have more untouchable hard court and grass records, but Rafa's gradual mastery of Wimbledon grass throughout his early career is scary. Not many people remember or know that Rafa reached 5 consecutive finals from 2006 to 2011 (did not compete in 2009).
@@Luiz-nb3uz That is 2012 AO I would say. His performances vs Berdych, a great version of Fed and prime Novak were all incredible and he came so close to winning one of the best matches ever.
