On this day in 1988 {April 29th} Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark performed "Dreaming" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Dreaming" was at position #26 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, three weeks later it would peak at #16 {for 2 weeks} and it spent seventeen weeks on the Top 100... "Dreaming" reached #50 in the band's native England... Between 1980 and 1996 the Meols, Wirral, Merseyside, England band had twenty nine records on the United Kingdom's Singles chart, seven* made the Top 10 with their two biggest hits both peaking at #3, "Souvenir" in 1981 and "Sailing On The Seven Seas" in 1991... Besides "Souvenir" and "Sailing On The Seven Seas", their other five Top 10 records were "Enola Gay" (#8 in 1980}, "Joan of Arc" {#5 in 1981}, "Maid of New Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc)" {#4 in 1982}, "Locomotion" {#5 in 1984}, and "Pandora's Box" {#7 in 1991}... * The band just missing having two more Top 10 records when both "Talking Loud and Clear" {1984} and "(Forever) Live and Die" {1986} peaked at #11 on the UK Singles chart...

Cuando ellos iniciaron a fines de los años 70s no había la tecnología, al menos tan perfecionada, para modular la voz de los cantantes y menos el sonido de los instrumentos.
Me preguntó, por que Omd en sus conciertos de hoy en dia tocan pocas canciones de "Sugar tax", y "Liberator" , extraño canciones como "Speed of light", "Call my name", "Stand above me" and "Drem of me"
