- Hey guys, please do me a favor and hit subscribe! I went to the Battenkill River in upstate NY to do some trout fly fishing. I caught one stocked brown trout and almost caught a ticket as well! The river runs through the border between New York and Vermont and I wasn't paying attention and crossed it. The cop seemed like a really nice guy and and was an outdoors man himself. He let me off with a warning, so it turned out to be a good day!
Nice Game warden. That kid got lucky.
Officer Turner is a good dude.
Of course its hard to realize that you cross into VT, the welcome signs are so small its hard to notice.
The way it’s supposed to play out. Both parties very professional.
Better accidentally crossing the Vermont/NY border than the Canadian border!
haha true, hopefully its well marked up there!
I was thinking da same

Nice to hear
Why ?
Just saying that if this happened the other way around and you had an active Vermont license and crossed into New York, NYSDEC would have given you a verbal warning and helped you buy a new license online so you could keep fishing New York waters. If cell service wasn’t there, they would have given you there phone number and would have asked you to update them via text when you bought the NYS fishing license. Otherwise they would probably cut you the ticket. I love NY, and the NYSDEC. They are all underrated and good people. Nice fish but that was definitely not a stocky.
Totally agree with NY DEC. Amazing organization who steward resources responsibly and manage an awesome state forest system, especially in CNY.
it's always turner he comes out of nowhere
Dude would’ve DEFINITELY gave me a ticket 😂
He wasn't harsh but not entirely okay either. He has a lot of discretion in his duties and didn't have to give you a written warning. He could of just informed you of unknowingly crossing over and head back the way you came.
Bummer that you wound up over the border in error.
That was actually a fish. It has the adipose fin intact. DEC removes the adipose from all trout stocked in the Special Regs stretch.
Oh cool! I usually think the lighter colored browns are stocked but that might not have anything to do with it lol. Its good to see wild fish in that section.
@@zachcanaperi Actually the lighter colored ones tend to be the wild ones - just look at the stream bottom … those browns fit right in with their surroundings. FWIW next year DEC will no longer be stocking the Special Regulations stretch starting next year - which will help allow the wild fish thrive.
Jim Lyons ah, that makes sense. Looks like I really have to work on my casting now. Good luck out there!
Hi
Did he give you a Ben & Jerries coupon with you warning?
Hi
No, he bought me stewarts though! Still hit the spot after a long day on the water.
Happy birthday man!

Nice so good to hear
Where in Vermont were ya fishing????
So tell me why this was a problem? Being from Vermont I’d like to know.
He started fishing on the New York side of river and had a New York license. He wound up wading up stream into Vermont where you can’t fish without the Vermont license, so he isn’t allowed to fish there. Had he not had any license he would’ve definitely gotten a fine, but mistakes happen and the warden let him go
@@dmar96 he got a warning because he wasn't a dick, and he had a license in NY, clearly made a mistake that had no repercussions. The warning documented it, so if it happens again he it shows he was informed. Win, win for everyone.
Authoritarianism is rampant in liberal ran states. He was a good obedient subject wearing his mask
What a sick
I deal with that game warden all the time fishing the batten kill
Really
He seems to cover a lot of ground up there
Which county was this in
Hi
Likely Washington,NY/ Bennington, VT
washington county!
Aren't borders wonderful...
The big mistake was actually talking to the ‘law’ enforcement. You are giving him information which he WILL USE AGAINST YOU. You don’t have to tell them anything, we do have rights. Being respectful is always a good idea, but where is his respect for a man who is on the river minding his own business?
Plus, why the hell is he wearing a mask? What if I wore a mask and started approaching people, like that in the woods with a mask on? Poor bastard
@@muddymike it’s mandatory in most places if your not vaccinated. Specially as a worker. But I agree🤣🤣😂
@@Misterboolio mandatory to wear a mask into the woods? I mean, you don’t conceal your identity with a mask and come up on people in the woods. Looking like a bandit of some sort... some people might not take kindly to that sort of approach
Chill out. 99.9% of rangers and encon officers are pretty cool. They won't dick you over if you are respectful and obviously a criminal. The only thing that would have happened if he played the I'm not going to incriminate myself card is he would have gotten a ticket instead of a warning. He was not on the border but a mile into Vermont. He was breaking the law. He did the right thing.
@@MountainVisions what if what you are calling ‘law’ was actually a corporate or commercial code, arbitrarily and illegitimately enforced upon a living man with all his rights in tact?
