Chino is literally his own genre. Anything he touches is so fresh and new. I've been listening to this dude for over 20 years and it's still like the first time hearing him. There is just nobody like him.

"Chino is literally his own genre." Ehh Orgy referred to their industrial pop rock sound as "death pop" in the late 90s. I think Crosses fits that genre name and influence set.
@@anwyll Ehh I think Chino was doing his thing long before there ever was an Orgy. So to correct you ya Orgy and everyone else in that circle took a little bit of what Chino was doing.
I think you'll find several members of Orgy were well established in the CA scene in the 80s and 90s before Deftones even got to a studio for Adrenaline (which does not feature much music that could fit in this category). Let alone Crosses or Team Sleep.
People definitely were paying attention to Chino back then but he was not doing this style of music at that time. Maybe he wished he was, I am sure he always could have but Deftones took a few albums to approach this sound. And he did not start Crosses or Team Sleep until well after Orgy had released Candyass.

I just discovered Crosses. This EP is precious and l loved how it reminds me Depeche Mode, nu metal and darkwave, but in a particular way. It's not plagiarism. It's fresh. Chino Moreno is amazing

Don't forget Shaun Lopez. He writes and creates the instrumentals. Chuck Doom also had a hand on the creative process on their first album.

@@nobetter7747 yeah, they had some great stuff as well. I've got all their demos compiled to a playlist i created. a couple of those tracks are the best material Chino has ever collaborated on, ever.
When I say Chino Moreno is my all time favorite musician, this is what I mean. Everything he does is flawless. I had the opportunity to meet him and could only say ‘thank you’. I couldn’t explain how much of an impact his music has had on me over the decades. ❤

Deftones/crosses is my favorite band, I swear this band scratches the itch every single time year after year for almost 30 years now.
This song is amazing. It makes me impossibly please and unbearably sad thinking of a situation I went through at the end of a 20 year relationship. "I saw you wet" to me was seeing my former wife appearing to have been crying an not knowing why. The drowning in silence, you can't understand it....until it is far too late. Crushing, beautiful, poignant, perfect.
