I definitely understand how you feel. With that being said, I’m a dealer and have been one since 2015. I sell most of my vehicles as is. We have buyers guides that we have to put on every vehicle. These show what to look for and inspect on used vehicles. It also states you can have the vehicle inspected. I always tell my buyers if it doesn’t feel right don’t buy it. I use this as well when I buy my inventory. The biggest thing on buying vehicles is doing your due diligence.

You didn’t get scammed, you failed to do your due diligence. You bought a used car as is from a used car dealer and you didn’t get a PPI or even bring your scan tool and scan it before you bought it. I’ve never heard of an “in house” warranty from a used car dealer not sure where you’ve come across that before even new car dealers don’t do that on a used car.
This is 100% all your fault.

Hey, I get your opinion. It's yours. But doing the right thing, if you're an upstanding business, should be at the forefront. Otherwise, everyone would be dishonest, and nobody would want to buy anything from anyone. You can't claim to be a respectable dealer, then sell crap. First things first!
I think Craig is a terrible car dealer and based on the crap he buys and posts on RUclips, I don't know how anyone would buy that shit in the first place!
    Now
A scam is buying a car and then finding out the dealer rolled back the odometer!
A scam is finding out the dealer knew it had salvage history and washed the title and sold it with a clean title!
    That's a scam!
You have $5200 for a used car.
It's not $15K or $10K, but it's still enough money to buy something decent.
You are a bike builder guy, I guess based on what I barely saw, so you have some idea about transportation.
You also said you did research on these cars and know they are junk!
Heck, they sell them with 10 year warranties for a reason!
You never mentioned the miles because that probably would make you look more of a fool!
As for test driving the car, I never let a customer go by themselves because I know what people like to do with other people's property and its a used car, not a new car.
I though would have asked to go for a longer test drive and on the highway.
I respect a 10 year old car and drive it accordingly so it will last. Unfortunately people don't think the same way.
Cars are like people, as they get older, things break. We don't know when they will break but eventually they do.
My neighbor was a health nut and told me that I wasn't taking care of myself as he went for a morning jog.
The next day he went for his morning jog and never came home!
Died of a heart attack on the run!
Shit happens, sometimes we have bad timing and it happens suddenly!
Deal with it but don't blame someone because they didn't give you something that they weren't obligated to give you!
    Caveat Emptor
Learn that and make sure you understand it when you go before a Judge in court!
Also learn what defamation of character is!

  • @buxtonautosales
    @buxtonautosales 3 дня назад +1

Man. That's too bad. But I wouldn't say you were scammed. You did, I assume, sign the Federal Buyer's Guide that said the vehicle is as is. That form also suggests you take the car to a shop to be checked out BEFORE you purchase or bring a mechanic. I don't believe you were scammed. I believe you bought a Hyundai and it had a bad engine. It was as is when the dealer bought it. And it was AS-IS when you bought it and it sounds like you didn't get it checked out before you bought it. I'm sorry it happened. It seems like Hyundai told you the car was good to go the first time so even taking it to a shop may not have detected a problem. If the dealer couldn't detect the problem after the purchase do you think they could have detected it before the sale? I'm sorry, AS IS means AS IS. It is unfortunate the car needs an engine and you aren't entitled to anything from the dealer. Scam isn't accurate. You got a car that had a problem.

I was a dealer for 20 years. As is or not. You sell a car and the motor goes within a few days.
    You have a choice.
Put a motor in it. Buy it back for the $5200. Or trade you out for a different car.. that is how I always did it. And it happened to me a few times !
    I sold a blazer once. $6000
Motor went bad 3 weeks later.
    I ended up paying $3500

The car was AS-IS and that's is what was signed. I would've taken the Hyundai before purchasing to have a local mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection. If the used car dealer wouldn't allow you to do than I would look elsewhere. Since you already purchased the Hyundai I would find a local mechanic that you trust and get a 2nd opinion. The dealership is always going to be the most expensive to get the car repaired. You mentioned in your video that Kia's and Hyundai's engines over time are not reliable then why did you even look at one in the first place? Probably could've found a higher mileage Toyota, Honda, and/or Nissan for $5,000 and may have been better off. Or just cut your losses clear the code and sell it to one of those large car buying places. They'll send it to the auction.

But in the companies defence, you already knew about the Velosters in general having engine issues but still went ahead and purchased one. You then try and go back to the dealer to rectify the issue after not taking out a warranty which in fact wouldn't have been red flagged and the ounis would have been on the dealer not you if a claim was made.

  • @CCMINC
    @CCMINC 7 дней назад +23

Here's a short but long explanation of how I take your video and it's just advice so take it for what it's worth. This was painful to watch, I feel sorry for you and I also feel sorry for the dealer. I'm a dealer in North Carolina and legally Flying Wheels can't repair the car if the laws are the same there as they are here. Any vehicle sold "as is" has to be in fact sold "as is", if they offered to fix the car and did so then that is an "implied warranty" which in NC means Flying Wheels would have to warranty the car for as long as you owned it, no way out of it. Now as far as trading you back out of it that is totally up to the dealer, I'm sure they could work something out with you if you said that's 100% what you want to do.
I'm just curious how much time passed before you let them know it had an issue? If you let them know as soon as you got home that the check engine light came on before it made it home from the dealer then I feel like things would have been different for you. I know from experience that a customer will lie to a dealer way more than a dealer lies to customers. Buyers are liars, It's a sad but true fact. I'm definitely not saying you're lying but you have to look at it from the perspective of the dealer as to getting a phone call days or weeks later stating the car had an issue that started on the drive home from the dealership and I'm just now contacting you, sounds a little unbelievable. Again I feel like you're telling the truth about the car and situation but anything could have happened in the amount of time you bought the car and when you finally contacted the dealer, that's why it would have been critical for you to let them know as soon as it happened. It's a no win situation for the dealer either way and you should have requested to drive the car further than a mile or so at 35mph, go on a second test drive with the detail guy and put it through it's paces. Another thing is they offered you an extended warranty which you had the opportunity to buy but declined to do so because you had a predetermined mindset that the warranty is no good. If a dealer is "throwing in a warranty" or "including a warranty" on any used vehicle it has to be listed on the bill of sale because if not that's going back to an "implied warranty" and they never expire once the dealer repairs the vehicle. Definitely do not trust a dealer that says they are giving you a warranty and it's not listed anywhere in the paperwork. I'm sorry this happened and I watch Flying Wheels too and I do feel like Craig is an honest, understanding person but his hands are tied when it comes to repairing the vehicle. I'd try asking really nicely how you could trade out of it and get into a different, more reliable vehicle for your son. Not to pour salt on your wound but 5 minutes worth of research on Google would have made you run from certain Hyundai's and Kia's, a lot of them are ticking time bombs. It's just a bad situation all around, I'm sorry.

@kalways_kustoms Thanks for your reply. If I might offer a few suggestions. One, rather than ask the dealer to make you an offer, be prepared with what you think is a fair price based on KBB as well as comparables in the market place (ie. Cargurus, FB Marketplace, etc.). Second, any dealer that is including a warranty isn't really doing it for free. They are just wrapping the cost of the warranty into the price of the car. Most likely, cars from dealers that include warranties will probably have the same model priced higher than dealers that don't include warranties. Third, decide what kind of car you want ahead of time by researching and watching RUclips videos. I think the Car Wizard does a great job with his "but this not that" episodes. I watch both review videos of the car as well as looking for videos of common problems with the car. Fourth, if the dealer offers a warranty for purchase, research that company and see if the reviews are good. Do it right there with the dealer and discuss any concerns you have with the dealer. If you buy a car that has excellent reliability like a Toyota or Honda, it will be FAR less likely you will ever need to utilize a warranty. That's all I've got for the moment. 😄

You buy a car at the auction that gets driven in and out at speeds less than 20. It is then driven at low speed to load it on a trailer, then parked on a lot and checked. Then you bought it. He will be contacting you as he is already getting message about being a scammer. I watch his channel regularly and he talks about all the bad customers in his videos and being he did not mention this when he always says transparency I feel guves creditably to you story. If you were just a bad customer there would have been a video on it

Definitely. I'm not that kind of guy, and it took something this extreme to make me make this video. It was made more to hopefully protect future customers, rather than retaliation. Thanks for watching!

@@kalways_kustoms As a car dealer myself I understand this happen out of nowhere with cars and you might have not know something was going to happen right after you sold it and I sell cars as is but if it breaks immediately you have to work with you customer. I had it happen once I offer to either take the car back or give them the profit I made off it towards fixing it they choose to take the couple dollars profit I made off it towards fixing it they were happy and I did not loose so it worked out for everyone. I you situation he could have gave you another car (swapped it out) with one he still made profit on, took the bad car ran it back thru auction he would have lost some money on it but the profit he would have made off the car he sold you should have evened him out. So he would not have made anything but not lost any (or minimum each way) and kept a customer and most like got a good review for taking care of the customer.

It was as is and you agreed. Both of you made an agreement you paid cash for a car. And his job. Was to give you a good car. Sadly he did not keep his part of the deal. Here is where ethics kicks in. Is it ok to take 5000 for a car thats no good just because he did not know its no good. No its not so at least meet halfway and return 2000 to him tohelp fix the junk car he sold him. That would be ethical .

They didn't scam you!!! You bought a notoriously bad car known for throwing engines especially used! Then you bought it, quickly after it did what's it's known for, you bought it knowing full well it had no warranty and then wanted them to fix it and buy you a new engine? How about doing some research on a good car next time! Sounds like you learned a $5200 lesson but it's honestly not the dealers fault it's yours!!!!

You purchased a nearly 10 year old automobile “as-is,” what more needs to be said? Nobody forced or tricked you into the car, nor did they force you to forego a PPI or scanning it yourself. You should also bear in mind the cost of the automobile and how no reasonable business would offer any warranty on any car of this vintage. Do you think you would have paid $5200 if it did have one? You also failed to mention the mileage in your video, please excuse me if you did and missed it. How many miles has this Hyundai accrued in its 9+ years? I won’t ask why not simply use $5200 as a down payment and make small monthly payments in exchange for the peace of mind in knowing that you’re covered because I do not know your financial situation. However, no reasonable person can expect any type of warranty under these circumstances and you were assured upfront that you are “on your own.” You agreed. In fact, even if the dealer did reimburse you for a brand new engine, it could open the door to future claims since they are agreeing to the warranty claim in the first place. What if they replaced the engine and next week your (fragile) dual clutch gearbox decides to fail? When would their liability end? When you say so! You gambled/lost, as you did when you decided to forego the temp tag/inspection and just “slap a plate on.” Interesting to note, you would’ve probably had more leverage when they went to inspect it and fail at their facility. They honored their word in selling you a product for a price that you agreed to when signing an “as-is” bill of sale. Call it a learning experience but this is how life is in the real world and you should not try to manipulate others to do as you wish by leveraging your hardships. None of this should be new information to you.

You signed the contract nobody owes you anything.
    This is what you signed
(No verbal agreements will be honored by dealer.)
This vehicle is being sold as/is with no warranties, retums or guarantees expressed or implied. The vehicle has been inspected by the buyer and is in running condition. It has been discounted from its retail value in consideration of any repairs it may need. Upon signature and payment, the buyer assumes sole
responsibility, and liabiltiy and no way will the seller, dealer, and/or current owner any longer be held liable.

Exactly, it's just an excuse to use "Flying wheels scammed me!! In a thumbnail to get his own channel some views. When your buying a car like that you may as well buy it on marketplace. Nobody on their would give him a refund on it either. Especially because his son probably drove it like he stole it.

Thank your government, as a used car dealer we have to sell them as is, and we have to have someone go on test drives, I've had father and son try to race a Corvette with a dually diesel, and insurance requires it, plus, as much as we as dealers, would want to help you, once we break the as is veil, now ,we have implied a warranty, and then we will get sued for everything ! forever, thank the attorneys, and no fan of another dealer, but last I knew, the dealer did not build the car, plus, all cars are crap these days, lease a car and give it back when your done, I'd like to see the video of the dealer forcing you to buy the car

No matter how cheap Hyundai. and Kia cars are I would never switch from Toyota to a lesser brand you should have just bought another engine for the corona. No matter how old the Corolla is. It's going to be 10 times better than owning a Kia or Hyundai.

You said that you were aware that Hyundai/Kia engines are problematic. This is your fault for buying the Veloster, not Flying Wheels for selling it to you. BTW, why when businesses are successful do you consider them scammers? Is it because you don't have as many followers or you're not as successful?

Sorry for your situation, but you really should have a car inspected before purchasing it. Especially when the terms are, as is. I don't know if the problems would have shown up or not, but as is and no inspection is just negligence.

To be honest you should have put a head gasket in the Toyota Corolla and been back in business for 100,000 more miles. It's more of a car than a Hyundai will ever be. And the Altima with its CVT would have also been a bad choice.
