  • Steamed poha is a variation of the popular Indian breakfast dish made with flattened rice. Here’s a simple recipe for steamed poha:
    Ingredients:
    - 2 cups poha (flattened rice)
    - 1 tablespoon oil
    - 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
    - 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    - 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
    - 1 medium onion, finely chopped
    - 1 small carrot, finely chopped
    - 1 small capsicum, finely chopped
    - 4-5 beans, finely chopped
    - 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    - Salt to taste
    - 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    - 2-3 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
    - 4-5 curry leaves, chopped
    - 2-3 tablespoons grated coconut (optional)
    - 1/4 cup roasted peanuts (optional)
    Instructions:
    1. Prepare the Poha:
    - Rinse the poha in a colander under running water for a few seconds until it softens. Be careful not to over-rinse as it can become mushy.
    - Let the poha sit for about 5 minutes to allow it to soak in any excess water.
    2. Cook the Base:
    - Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
    - Add cumin seeds, green chilies, and onions. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.Add vegetables,saute it until the vegetables are soft.
    3. Add Spices and Poha:
    - Add turmeric powder and salt. Stir well.
    - Add the rinsed poha to the pan and mix gently to combine all the ingredients. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
    4. Steam the Poha:
    - Transfer the poha to a steaming plate or an idli steamer. Steam for about 5-7 minutes.
